- Trailblazer Outdoors Andy has owned a Paramo Enduro fleece for a while and here is his "on the hill" review. After a recent Scottish winter trip he decided he needed a more substantial mid layer for cold weather and decided upon the Enduro.
(Here is the video of the trip- • Winter attempt on Carn... )
It proved an excellent choice, but as a year-round piece! It was enough to keep of the chill in Autumn mountains and was comfortable around town.
It has three, hill pack placed pockets with low profile zips for layering up. The pockets are backed with the new light weight analogy pump liner, giving an added layer of weather protection at the fount.
A serviceable hood gives added thermal protection. It works well on its own or with an Analogy waterproof hood.
The new fleece material is perhaps the star of the show. Lightweight, with an excellent warmth to weight ratio and breathable to. While this is not unique in good fleece, what is outstanding is its durability. It still looks the same as when it was first worn. And while it has not been owned years, (yet), durability is a hallmark of most Paramo fabrics, and certainly is with this one.
Ethically produced as well. Paramo’s production standards are second to none. Which, if you enjoy the outdoors, should be high on your buying agenda! For more info on this, watch this-

I have the anorak style and I love it. Just like the reviewer, end up wearing it all the time! I cannot fault it although I wouldn’t mind a way of keeping the hood rolled away as it has nice long sleeves and is great for cycling.
I have the Tiagia fleece and it’s 22 years old and still great kit. Got the 3rd element jacket, Cascada Jacket & Trousers
Love the gear
That’s a grand vintage 😄 Paramo is second to none for their kit and the top of the tree for their ethics ☺️ the Taiga is great, shame they have finally discontinued it (due to the fabric been unavailable) Enjoy your outdoors time Andy 🏕☺️

I hope to.
Hope you do too

Merry Christmas & a HaPpY New Year
Yet again I really enjoyed the review!. You certainly get about!. Lol!. A week this Friday and I will be up in Bonnie Scotland!. I will pop in to the shop to get some bits before I go👍
Thanks Chris 👍🏻 I am heading to Wales soon, which will be a change 🏴 Scotland in February will be interesting, hope you have a good trip- Enjoy 🏔🌀
I have older version which looks like a smock and it has vents from elbow to (almost) hip. I have it for few years. I have used it for winter running and casual mountenering. Quality of the fabric is superb. It literally looks like new after all of my abuse.
Sounds like one of the first designs- it’s the same material, the standard weight analogy outer layer- it’s a great fabric which performs and is durable- we often get asked if it’s flimsy and it’s anything but! Enjoy your outdoors time, Andy
Hi... Regarding the older version... Can I ask if it is good on freezing winter conditions with a base layer and a paramo waterproof on top of the fleece.. Many thanks.... Stay safe
Great review and I totally agree, Ive had mine a while and would definitely recommend.
Another superb review!
Really like the fabrics they’re using now
My go to brand these days, thanks to your reviews.
Cheers Barry.
Thanks Barry! Yep, their one of the best and for water-proofs they are the best IMO. The thing I didn't mention in the vid was the ware factor, had it about a year now and it looks no different from the day I got it- which is great and very Paramo. Enjoy your outdoors time, Andy
Nice one mate, found this by accident looking for something else. 1000th sub. 😎
Thanks for the sub :) Enjoy your outdoors time, Andy
Having already bought the enduro windproof last year decided I might as well get the fleece, wore the combo up scafell pike two weeks ago in 70mph wind and it was great really comfortable to wear. Also had solid rain the day after and gave it a good test in the rain and it lasted quite a while but like you said does get damp, just wondering if it would get cold in high wind or not. Off up moel hebog end of October so sure it will get another good test after a thorough proofing. Cheers for the vid.
That’s some wind 🌬️⛰️ sounds like an interesting assent 😄 yeah, it’s a good system and I rate them both as stand alone pieces- they don’t replace an Analogy Waterproof but do a reasonable job in rain 🌧️ I ware my fleece all the time as I find it comfortable and it’s taken a lot of general ware without signs of ware (but that’s Paramo in general) ☺️ while it’s warm for its weight it’s not a heavy insulation system, but if your working hard it might be enough in October- as you mentioned, proofing is important (like in all outerwear) 🤔 have a good trip and enjoy 😊🏕️🌀
@@WildcraftBritain we camped at langdale campsite walked up scafell pike via rossett gill, got pretty precarious over il crag with the wind sheer but soldiered on, ended up being a 12hour round trip then 6hrs In the pub after 😂 but yh love paramo gear it's top notch
@@Jman21UK sounds like an epic 😄🏕️⛰️🌀
After wearing both together in rain for a while I've come to the conclusion you need to wear a light grid fleece underneath and that then works perfectly, without the grid fleece the arms get very damp and cold. On the whole though happy with the duology set up.
@@Jman21UK thanks for the input 👍🏻 they work alone or together well (I use both, but I use the Bentu Windproof as well- will review that at some point)- combined it’s not an Analogy waterproof but it works and fills a broad niche 🤔
Just bought this fleece and love it my only issue is the static it causes! Not sure if there’s a way to remove it
Yeah, it can do that 🤔 especially when paired with wool under-layers ☺️ I just touch a radiator before taking it off which helps 😋 enjoy your outdoors time, Andy 🏕⛰🌀
Very helpful. Thanks!
Thanks for your kind comment ☺️ I’m glad you found it useful 😊 I like the fleece so much I bought a second in a different colour 😋 the first has worn very well and is super useful 😉 Enjoy your outdoors time, Andy 🏕⛰🌀
Andy, great review as always. Would you say the Enduro fleece is suitable for wearing next to skin like a baselayer? I run very hot, even in winter, and the flexibility of the fleece/windproof system vs an Analogy Waterproof jacket is appealing to me.
Hi Anuron, glad you liked the vid ☺️ I see no reason why it couldn’t be used as a base layer 🤔 there’s a zip guard behind the zipper all the way down, so there should be no metal to skin contact points 👍🏻 the Velez jacket is worth a look to- full of vents and the lightweight liner is excellent 👌 Enjoy your outdoors time, Andy 🏕🏔🌀
Great videos! Have you had a chance to look at a Quito jacket or Bentu fleece? I am looking for a jacket for nordic skating in the winter and hill climbing and hiking in spring to autumn here in Scandinavia and I run quite hot. Right now I skate in a Lundhags Makke polycotton jacket that is quite thin and breaths wonderfully, the polycotton is pretty much identical to Fjällrävens thinner G-1000, beneath it I have just a Craft base layer and that works well as far as temperature goes from -5 c up to +5 c, but it isn't quite up to multiple hours of rain. Having a quito fleece underneath the Lundhags jacket seems like a workable idea to get a homebrew analogy system (that is also a bit resistant to flame since I often make fire) while I suspect the enduro fleece is likely to warm for me combined with Lundhags.
Alternatively perhaps the quito could do the trick by itself.
Unfortunately no store stocks Paramo in Swede afaik so it is impossible to try them on beforehand.
Hi, The best light weight waterproof is the Velez Jacket, (I own one and have reviewed it), its a brilliant jacket and my go-to for mountain walking- combined with a Enduro Windproof, (another I own and have reviewed), it makes a good winter jacket and the windproof on its own is great for summer/hotter/high energy activities and the Velez is there for backup. Hope this helps, ☺️ Enjoy your outdoors time, Andy
@@WildcraftBritain Hi Andy, thanks for the grand reviews! In what way is the velez better than quito, why did you choose it over the velez smocks? Thanks, Tom
Hello hope your well... Is the fleece good in UK winter conditions... With a merino base layer and a paramo alta jacket over the fleece... Many thanks.... Recently got hold of the paramo active cap from yourself... Fantastic cap in this sunshine and heat we have been lucky to have recently.... Stay safe
Hi Bob- I actually got the fleece for use in winter ❄️ however, I use it all the time in the shop as a comfortable out layer ☺️ I’ve not had a chance to use it in winter Mountineering as lockdown has prevented it- but the little I have used it in these conditions it did well 😉 enjoy your outdoors time, Andy ⛰🌀
@@WildcraftBritain thanks for the info much appreciated.. You can't really go wrong with paramo clothing.... I have quite a few paramo fleeces.... I like the look of this one... I'll save it for the winter.... Best regards and stay
@@WildcraftBritain Ps any news on when you'll do a review on the cascada 2 trousers.... Looking forward to that one....
If you had a choice of only one fleece would you have this or the paramo taiga???
Tough one Bob as they are very different fleeces tbh 🤔 The taiga is more an outlay/jacket 😉 I would probably go Taiga, but the Enduro is more flexible as it makes a great mid layer also. Enjoy your outdoors time, Andy 🏕⛰
@@WildcraftBritain good answer... I love the taiga... Looks pure class and very stylish on the hills or casual looks smart.... I wish paramo would do a similar fleece again... Cool looking and all those pockets... Plus mega functional.... Stay safe...
I've got hold of a paramo summit hoodie... Absolutely love it.....
How tight fitting is the fleece would you say? I had the ostro and it felt tight
I would class it as an “athletic” fit, (not that I’m an athlete 😋)- mines a large, I’ve fairly broad shoulders and a 32” waste and it fits me well- the arms are fairly long too, so it’s good to reach in 🤔 hope that helps- enjoy your outdoors time, Andy 🏕🏔🌀
@@WildcraftBritain this couldn't have been a more helpful response. Thank you so much, keep inspiring us all with your outdoor adventures too
Glad I could help- fit advice is always difficult as one persons idea of a fit can be very different from another’s 🤔 real glad you like the Adventure films- they have been thin on the ground for the last few years, (covid, converting a van to a camper and sorting the garden for food production have reduced my opportunities), but I should have more time going forward for further outdoors fun 🙏😄🏔🌀
@@WildcraftBritain Spot on, Ive ordered a large too- similar proportions (although 34 waist). It sounds like you've got your passions in the right order, I'm just grateful that you chose to share some of them on here ✌️❤️
