- London Underground Staff are kept on their toes as they have to put up with vandalism looking out for their own safety as well as that of the vandals. A far-right group also takes a trip on the underground calling for a police escort.
For the first time in its history, London Underground has opened its doors to record the day-to-day life of its 16,500 staff who work across a network of 275 stations and 507 trains running on over 300 miles of track. Every year more than one billion people use The Tube that's 3 million journeys a day; commuters, holiday-makers, day-trippers, businessmen and women, students, overseas visitors.
This series goes behind the scenes to tell the story of some of the dedicated and colourful characters who work for LU, doing a difficult job under often challenging and stressful circumstances.

People. TREAT. STAFF. WELL. It's not that difficult and it makes their lives easier. It may be one instance for you but for them its thousands of similar minded people. They are humans too.
no
Theirs also extremely impolite staff too...
Public transit workers really don't get paid enough for the crap they deal with. In Denver I saw multiple bus drivers get attacked, cursed at, and spit on many times. As soon as they kick off a drunk something almost always popped off.
Absolutely disgusting they deserve more people really need to act more mature
In my state of New York, assaulting ANY transit staff is a felony! Upto 7 years in state prison, a fine, or both
Omg he had to walk to Euston what next!! 😩
its less than a 5 minute walk. The guy was a complete d*ckhead.
I know. I think we should have a fundraiser for him. Such a hardship he's faced
He is right in saying that the underground needs to be improved.

6:55, Tokyo metro does that. No one argues or complains. It works and no problems happen if they don't complain.
I think it works there because people understand the bigger picture and consider others, while here people consider others less ad don’t get the big picture.
There's worse things in Tokyo that happen such as suicides on the tracks I think everyday
Japan has many big problems from their don't make a fuzz mentality such as high rate of untried cases, high suicide rate, wrongful conviction etc.
I really like this documentary but this is outdates for the release and tbh. Things are a lot different. For example, the works at brixton are done now.
Japan is nearly completely homogenized. They all share a common history and genetics. Their society also teaches them that dissent is wrong and punishable.
Not comparable to a country torn apart by illegal immigration and racial tension.

Yes when the BNP did well in elections.
Gorgeous old D-stock trains! Remember riding them everyday to school.
They were magnificent, a small part of me died when the last D Stocks were taken out of service, I was roughly 11, maybe 12 at the time...
However, LNWR have revived some of the old D Stocks for use on the Marston Vale branch line, and they are now British Rail class 230, so they still do exist, with good reason too, seen as they were the most reliable Underground train ever made!
17yrs working on the railway. Let me just say that things only improve, work only gets done and things change ONLY when it will cost more to ignor them!
Can you tell the arse hole drivers to stop striking for every little thing, rail workers get paid more than average pay and more than enough to sit in a small drivers cabin with air con on their arse all day with great benefits and pay...
It is such a shame that they sold off 55 Broadway. The crown jewels of TfL / LU. A disgrace. This company and those within it is amazing - they deserve respect. They do a lot that the public do not see. It's horrid to see those higher up politicise their working lives.
Clearly the intention is the same as the railways and head towards privatisation. It is seriously sad that this to will bring about the same results and the once iconic London transport will become another corporate profits before people monopoly that was once the envy of the world.
nothing better than seeing your station and getting excited, then remembering they're talking about people throwing rocks and bricks and being nuisances LMAOOOOO

Oh noo a ten minute walk from Kings Cross the Euston the pain oh the pain
I’m a Londoner born and bred and thankfully only use the underground a few times a week due to my workplace being within walking distance.
At least the tube is way safer than new york subway
@@davetherave3511 Depends. The NYC Subway did have a few incidents a few years ago, but is by and large equally safe. In terms of crowding both systems are comparable, and NYC’s crime rate has long since come down.

7:30 it’s not like your net time will be increased as it would take the same amount of time from gate closing to train but just reducing the bottle neck. This may even decrease time as it could mean with less people on the platform disembarking is quicker also I would explain it like in cartoons when someone stops before the trap then a second character goes into the back of them well something to that effect has happened and meant we have had to stop the line turn off power so we can help them off so do you want to wait at the gate and have minimal delay of would you like to add an other half an hour for a person rescue”
To be honest, St Panc looks much better after the renovation.

My experience on the tubes from my holiday in London last week is still a work in process. The rush hour is a killer. Never experienced that before.
SoCal Drifter have you experienced the rush hour in Japan?
@@himeyukimatsumoto994 Nope. Never been to Japan.
SoCal Drifter it’s worse than London
@@chrisaguilera1564 Try doing it every day.
@@himeyukimatsumoto994 - I have - admittedly it was on the Oedo line only, which apparently isn't as busy as some others (rented flat in Monzen-Nakacho to work in the Mori Tower in Roppongi)... It's busier than London (but less prone to delays - except when there's an earthquake). The trains are also taller, which helps, as you're not bent over like you are on the tube if you're stuck near the doors.
Of the cities I've lived in, I'd have to say Bangkok rush hour is worse than both London or Tokyo. (Mainly because Tokyo and London both have lots of trains and underground lines, and Bangkok has no commuter trains (unless you count the line going to the airport), and far fewer metro/skytrain lines - so the lines they do have can be extremely busy)

London Underground thought how can we get rid of stress? I know we'll make Oyster card standard so we can shut a lot of the ticket offices and make everyone redundant.
Oyster is easier than using paper tickets though. Also much less chance of armed robberies I'm guessing as less physical cash is used by communters. I even think it might just go contactless in the future as certain Crossrail stations and Outer Lodnon stations are being made contactless but not Oyster stations. Apparently partly to do with how Oyster zones are programmed or something like that.
Steven Whiting Well sometimes these big organisations know that the unions use stress like a weapon and dare I say it a lot of staff do too. The department at the university I work for tricked a load of my gullible work colleagues into airing views regarding stress and other Grievances and pushed through a restructure which will likely see a good proportion of staff failing in their attempts to reapply for their jobs
London was a cess pit back mid 2000s
The underground still has a lot of staff, the oyster makes everything so much easier.
You can't have stressed workers if you don't have workers!

Bez jména no there must be a large group
Unfortunately the world isn't fair. If you want to get shit for free, you just start shit. Individuals would have been trespassed and banned from the underground, but you can't very well ban whole groups.
If they didn't open the gates, they would have just started fights and things would've gone downhill. They decided it was best for the safety of staff and the public to get these skinhead thugs out of the underground system as soon as and as quietly as possible.
Exactly, now I know if I want to travel for free I would need a flag and some moronic chant.
