  • Here Mr.Bharat Chugh (Independent Counsel & Former Magistrate/Civil Judge) discusses various issues relating to White Collar Crimes (WCC). The conversation ranged from : What really is ‘White Collar Crime’? and the criminology behind it, to a brief overview of principles of corporate criminal liability and salient features of legislations such as Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA), Prevention of Corruption Act (POCA), Fugitive Economic Offenders Act (FEO), Benami Act, Insolvency and Bankruptcy Code (IBC), Companies Act, etc.
The conversation ended with a brief discussion on the things that young defence counsels defending such cases should keep in mind, and the way forward for WCC and a few suggestions for legal reform.

    Hello Bharat Sir,
Thanks for sharing your views with us.
I have a question in mind.
I am a CA Final Student and have just completed LL.B. from Delhi University. I have experience in auditing and have also worked with SFIO. I have interest in the field of WCC.
As, I am about to start my career this year after giving my CA Final Exams in January, I want to know how should I proceed further in the area of WCC?
In which department of Tier 1 Law firms should I apply where I can get good exposure of this field in terms of both research and litigation aspect?
Or Is there any other manner in which I should proceed?
    Please guide. Thanks in advance!
