for the ignorant who doesn't understand, let me educate you. He is basically saying that he thought that he's equal to all Guyanese, but he just realized that he's not. because he went to Buxton and Kingston and they only referred to him as a coolie boy. I don't go around saying nigga girl or nigga boy. so he accepted what Guyanese sees him as.
Oh wow thanks for the explanation. It's a cultural thing. I asked a coworker what "Coolie" meant and he whispered, "It's kind of like saying..." and I jumped in, "Ni**er?" He said yes. I said, "Oh! It's the equivalent of the N word." I totally get it now. It's meant to be derogative.
@@ChannelZero1031 @Channel Zero Coolies are low caste Indians from India. Historically the Indians that were transported to Guyana and the Caribbean were from low castes and coolies (Indians). They weren't missed hence why the English were able to easily get them to work on the sugar plantation as indentured labourers. Hope this helps.

@@sksjsjem6493 Just in case this is a serious question:- (1) Proper Definition -- Coolie is a term for luggage-carriers (also menial-workers??) in India. Dunno if it's still used today. (2) Colloquial Definition:- a mainly non-offensive term for East-Indian people in the Caribbean region. U can google for further or modernised info; just in case I'm not up to speed 🙃
@@marissasue319 yea thanks dude Tbh I thought its some internal term of that particular country so curious Like I'm Fiji Indian so didn't know about that 😁
@@sksjsjem6493 Ahh, nice. Well, 🤔 if you're from India but u don't know the term, then it's probably no longer used there. Or, maybe, just not in your part 🤷🏼
LOL 😁 Even if this song isn't meant literally, the concept could still be literal and make sense... like if someone were raised with a different influence or exposed to a different environment during their formative years (American, perhaps??), but one day they wake up and realise that they're Coolie -- Indian -- East-Indian -- or whatever, lol! GREAT, FUN, CUTE, CATCHY song, beat, dance, mv, though❣❣❣❣❣
The Word Coolie is actually Offensive to People of Indian Origin. Guyanese Governments and other Govrnments of the Caribbean should have addressed This Issue after these Countries got their Independence but did not seek to Ban this Word. Its Insulting and Embarrassing to describe people of Indian Origin as Coolie
Unlike other countries. It's a norm to be referred to and historically it may be bad and rude now it's a common thing where its not centered on disrespect because olden golden portrayed such negativity
the term Coolie is a disgusting word to use and should not officially be used - It's not in Mauritius, in fact if your caught saying that to anyone over there then you can be arrested and in India People really look down on this term and associate this with being lower than the Untouchables in India so think on,
I will not argue with you on this point, go over to India, claim to this Awful word and see how you'll be shunned. It's a word they don't use in Mauritius anyone but People from the Caribbean and their Governments are too thick to Understand how rude this word is.
