Pretty good selection of subjects there Peter and of course seagulls are so common it’s easy to overlook them as a subject of interest 😀.

Great shots of the wood ducks. I just love seeing them. They come to our ponds and during winter like to graze in our garden. Interesting to see the magpie taking a bath. Ours come to the dam to drink and like to hang around our birdbath every afternoon but they rarely take a bath even during a heat wave. Never could figure out why not. Nice session👍

Thanks a lot mate! Our magpies in the neighbourhood are the same, I only ever saw one of our resident magpies take a plunge in the birdbath in the backyard once but have seen a few “wild” ones bathing:) Have a great week!☺️

Lovely stuff Peter. That’s a good area for wildlife photography
Loved the variety of shots and the way you edited this. I’m loving the R7 and lens conbo. Just waiting for some decent light now
Loved that Dotterel - we have Little Ringed and Ringed Plover here which look very similar.
And great captures of the Magpie bathing. 👍👍
    Have a great weekend mate.

Peter, such a beautiful area and photos. The Coots you have there have awesome black feet. The ones we have here have green feet. Absolutely beautiful ❤

Olá, o You Tube me recomendou o seu video, pois, nos ultimos dias pesquisei sobre a lente Canon 100-400mm e a R7. Há vários pássaros aqui perto de casa, no Parque Estadual Lagoa do Açu(PELAG). Parabens pelos cliques.

Nice video Peter, i'm using the same camera and lens combination 😊 in the beginning of the video you're shooting in electronic shutter, and after that we can hear the machanical shutter, why did you switch ? 🤭

I have two custom presets. I prefer the MS to reduce rolling shutter issues & use the electronic for stationery subjects primarily:) Hope you’re having a great week!

Hi Peter, which version of the 100-400 are you using here? I own the R6 mark 1 with the RF100-400 but I miss extra reach for birds. Any idea how they compare? Greetz Ab

Hey there. I have been using the EF 100-400 IS II which is is still one of my favourites but haven’t tested the RF 100-400 so can’t really compare. The EF 100-400 II mostly compares in terms of build quality to the RF 100-500 but I chose not to shell out that much money for insignificant increase in image quality or slightly faster AF performance ( in my opinion ). Cheers

@@peterviragphoto thank you Peter, and I agree about spending the money 🙂

You’re very welcome! I wonder if an RF extender would work with your setup. Might be worth doing a bit of research. Have a good one!
