Darkseid is the kind of guy who doesn't need to bring a weapon to a fight. His "fighting style" is picking you up, and literally smacking you with the back of his hand if he doesn't decide to punch you with his eyes. My dude walks around wearing a tunic and a skirt BECAUSE HE CAN and there's nothing you can do about it.

It was so disappointing how Grail had so much potential to be one of the most OP villains we'd seen in a long time, only to have her be basically forgotten. She's the daughter of Darkseid and an Amazon, there was so much they could have done with her after Darkseid's death.
I wouldn't say Grail's been forgotten. She's more or less a rival to Wonder Woman at this point, even temporarily taking over Themiscyra. That said, I am surprised she hasn't been used outside the comics more. Hell, she could be a good villain for that Superhero Girls show...

I love that in around 40 years of comics, his origins and characterization are essentially the same across the board. Based on this you could argue that the version of him in Superman TAS/ JL/JLU, the animated films till Flashpoint, the DCAU, Smallville, the Arrowverse mention and the Snyder version of him are ALL the same. Which is FRIGGEN BONKERS when you really think about it
But not the really old cartoon one that just wanted to marry Wonder Woman.

The greatest display of Darkseid’s power is that he fights Superman with his hands behind his back.... and still continues to do so even when he’s getting beyond omega level punches to his grill

As someone who knew very little this sounded like soooo many retcons. Many of the stories sounded half finished/ half baked and just to be retconed, because they got themselves in situation they couldn't write there way out of

First time I ever saw Darkseid was in the Super Friends cartoon back in the mid 80's and he always had very great interest in Wonder Woman, even wanting to make her his bride.

IMO True Form Darkseid is the best iteration of the character. For someone as powerful as Darkseid, I like the idea of him being so massive that his true form casts a shadow over the multiverse.

That's why when people jokingly say "What's behind the Source Wall?" they answer The Marvel Universe.
Dr Doom was an Easter Egg thrown in because Of Course he'd try to tap the Wall's Power...

I’ve always felt there was a bit of a artistic kindred spirit between Scott and Zack, like in the way that they like to play with the characters.
It’s basically Endgame but ALOT darker and instead of a time machine, Flash fixes it

Final Crisis was the first real, full comic book I ever bought. And boy that took lots of research and backstory to understand. Now it's one of my favorite comic story lines ever.

Darkseid has a much deeper & better history than what is shown in the New 52
To be fair, Darkseid tricking the Old Gods into fighting each other in a war and then killing/power stealing the survivors is badass in it's own right.
I'd be more interested in learning how Darkseid acquired the Omega Effect. Without it, he's nothing. The Omega Effect is like the Entropy of the universe. How did he acquire this power and why does his father and daughter have it? It's not genetics is it? Yuga Khan was able to utilize the full power of the Omega Effect. Darkseid changed his entire appearance after he got that power. There is still no really good explanation in New 52 about Omega Effect.

@Bob Joe actually since many retcons it's been revealed that the Darksied that fought Doomsday in the "Death of Superman" was also a "Avatar" as why it explains the universe didnt die when Doomsday "killed' him.

Darkside is a guy who needs no weapon because he’s the weapon and plus he’s literally a god who rules his own planet and is really awesome and badass
He never felt threatening to me because each time he has a hero in weak position, he goes all "I'm cruel, I'm bad-ass blahblah" and then "but I won't kill you nor even hurt you because it amuses me muahahahah". Even after the hero insulted him or something, he let it go in front of everyone. It makes him look weak and pathetic.

I am an casual reader of comics and this video encapsulated why. I was constantly going from: "Wow, this is a great Idea/concept!" to "Wow, that is really really dumb" back an and forth.

No explanation needed, the character that Thanos is based on, the inspiration to Darth Vaders I am your father line.
For a second there, in my tiredness and rapid reading speed, I thought you said Darkseid was based off of Thanos and nearly had a heart attack.
Bruh this is such a disservice to the great character of Darkseid. Gotta focus on the Jack Kirby/Pre New 52 origin. Introduce people to the character as Kirby intended. His back story was deep, filled with family drama and betrayal. Dialogue that's borderline shakespearean. It plays like an epic. The new 52 makes it seem like the new "gods" are just super powerful aliens. The Kirby stuff treats these characters with the weight of true gods. Really ramps up their significance.
