You know at first I didn’t think much of the rapier, I just looked at it and though, Hugh cool sword.
But after finding out that it was originally invented or originated in Spain ( my country of origin), I felt a bit more connected and interested into swords in general, and just how much of a sophisticated weapons they actually are, and how there is a lot more to them in both their creating and wielding than people originally think.

Am I the only one that thinks the rapier is by far the most terrifying sword?
What do you think of gladiators who fought with large shields and dagger/short sword ? I wonder if they had a fighting chance against longswords or rapier swordsmanship.
I figure if the gladiator would be able to close the distance by blocking with his scutum, he stands a pretty good chance tbh.

After the last punch the first fight seems a bit more believable, maybe as a fight between two novices. The last fight reminds of when Don Diego de la Vega (aka Zorro) meets a drunk Alejandro Murrieta in The Mask of Zorro.

I've done HEMA and other martial arts myself, which is why I know that even with script it requires a good amount of control to pull it off.
Either way I really enjoye seeing you guys having fun like that!

Your strength is in the distance and posture so why would a person expose themselves by closing distance to attack with a shorter weapon in a different style while holding one that would be liability? Ideas like this 2 wield sounds crazy and yet i bet a lot people love it.

I have a question,
How hard or easy would it be for someone with a sword to defeat someone with a spear in one on one combat?
Incredibly hard.
The polearm is the superior infantry weapon.
But it doesn’t look as cool as a sword and fashion is everything.
Assuming both combatants are of roughly equal skill and the fight is taking place in a fairly open area (cramped spaces can make the spear less effective), the spearman will, in the vast majority of cases, win against the swordsman. This is for a couple reasons. First and most importantly, the spear has a significant reach advantage against just about any type of sword (maybe a greatsword versus a particularly short spear would make reach even, but I imagine you're thinking more of a more standard two-handed spear versus something like a longsword), this means that the swordsman would have to quickly close the gap to get past the point of the spear, but with a competent spearman, this is much easier said than done. Additionally, the size, and consequently weight, of the spear mean that a strike from it (even though spears are mainly for thrusting the can strike fairly effectively) would be incredibly hard to parry or block with the much lighter sword. It depends... in a forest where you've bushes and trees everywhere, yes, in a hallway or on a wall, hell fuckin NO! when your space is limited at the sides but not in front and back the spear have an enormous advantage cause you can't avoid the thrust that easy and are limited in the used of the sword cause you can't swing it without paying attention to the environment.
Not quite totally the truth. The pole arm is Superior in formation, and sometimes on the battlefield. But a sword versus a poem in general, there isn't necessarily an advantage or disadvantage. One has reach, but struggles in close quarters combat. The other is better when the distance is closed.
If you're talking about a formation, like a pipeline, then yes. Numbers will absolutely give the advantage to the spear.

Dagger, two edges.
Knife, one edge.
Simple as that.
There's also the thing about daggers being specifically designed for fighting (as you wouldn't really need two edges for a tool knife)
A tanto is just a japanese combat knife.
