Monday Mortgage with Mike 3 11 24 DFA Portal Update

Happy Monday!
The Freddie Mac National Average is currently 6.88%. This week we will receive the latest rounds of the Consumer Price Index (CPI) and Producer Price Index inflation reports. Expectations for the CPI report are that the headline number will stay the same, but we will see a decline in the core number from 3.9% to 3.7%. As usual, any move in either direction away from expectations could have an impact on mortgage rates.
CalHFA has officially announced that the portal for Dream For All applications will open on April 3rd and will close on April 29th. To register in the portal, a buyer will need a pre-approval from a CalHFA approved lender. *That’s me*. After April 29th, CalHFA will do their lottery to see who will be awarded a voucher for the program. Whether someone registers at the start or end of the portal period, it will not affect their likelihood of getting chosen for the program.
