  • Watercolor can be one of the simplest mediums to use, but it does seem to have a mind of its own at times, giving it the reputation of being fussy and unforgiving to work with.
In this 4 part workshop we get into the mind of watercolor and see what makes it tick. Success with watercolor depends greatly on discovering and anticipating how it reacts in real painting situations.
    LESSON 3 - BOTANICAL ROSE PART 1
    PAPER USED:
Strathmore 500 Series Gemini Watercolor: www.strathmore...
In lesson 3 of 4, Steve Mitchell begins painting a botanical rose. He shows you materials needed, how to set up, and how to get started.
Follow along with Steve, then check out video 4 of the series where he finishes the botanical rose: • Watercolor Rose Tutori...
If you missed Steve's first two lessons, check them out and see how he paints a beautiful landscape in watercolor:

Hi Steve. Thoroughly enjoyed this little watercolor. Beautifully done and very inspirational. Lucky me, I'm in Florida right now I've had pain issues with my left foot, so now I must learn how to paint with my right foot... not really, but yes, the pain is bringing me down. I'm hoping to do some classes while I'm here... fingers crossed. Take care and keep the beautiful works coming!

I watch your videos religiously as they are the best IMHO. And this rose video demonstrates so many of the basic skills for watercolor that I'd say, if you can only watch one WC video, this should be it. Thank you for all the help you have given me.

Love your how-to videos! I'm a beginner and love the colors so always put too much pigment down first...instant gratification! But must learn to slow down and build the layers. Anyway thanks so much for the techniques in your videos. Learning a lot from them.

Why don't you turn the sound off and slow down the video. Go to the setting wheel on the video and change the speed. That's what I do and it works. But turn off the sound otherwise Steve sounds inebriated!
