I watch your videos religiously as they are the best IMHO. And this rose video demonstrates so many of the basic skills for watercolor that I'd say, if you can only watch one WC video, this should be it. Thank you for all the help you have given me.
Hi Steve. Thoroughly enjoyed this little watercolor. Beautifully done and very inspirational. Lucky me, I'm in Florida right now I've had pain issues with my left foot, so now I must learn how to paint with my right foot... not really, but yes, the pain is bringing me down. I'm hoping to do some classes while I'm here... fingers crossed. Take care and keep the beautiful works coming!
You are the absolute BEST - Thank you for your generosity in teaching, and showing technique in such a helpful and patient manner. You are my new best friend:)
thank you so much for this tutorial! You don't even know how much you helped me! I have been trying with watercolors many times but I was always failing 😁 Watercolors always was the only technique I just couldn't do nicely... and when I saw this video I instantly sat down and started creating my own version and I'm doing it right now and I'm sooo happy with how it's turning out ❤ thank you for your amazing video it's really helpful and you're amazingly talented!
Love your how-to videos! I'm a beginner and love the colors so always put too much pigment down first...instant gratification! But must learn to slow down and build the layers. Anyway thanks so much for the techniques in your videos. Learning a lot from them.
Why don't you turn the sound off and slow down the video. Go to the setting wheel on the video and change the speed. That's what I do and it works. But turn off the sound otherwise Steve sounds inebriated!
Hi Steve, I really appreciate how to explain as you paint! I haven't seen that many other that do the scientific botanicals but you mentioned there was a resurgence. Do you have a couple of other names I can look up or do you give more classes? Thank you!
Hi steve just found this site, good more work I can watch and learn from. Thought you would have your hands full with the other site? not that I'm complianing lol.
I'm searching for your source, which you mentioned in the first video is available in workshop. So far after an hour, I'm unable to locate it. Is it possible I can get a link? I'm a patreon. Thanks Steve!
Hi all, Does anyone know where to get the reference photo of the rose please? I heard him say that it is on his project page, but I have not been unable to find it. There is no link in the description box. Thanks
The ref. photo is on his blog page just google Steve Mitchell. At the blog site there is a spot labeled Strathmore Artist workshop, there you will find the photo.

Hey do you ever use terra paper? It seems to work beautifully with color - I was just wondering.
What is a substitute for Azo Green?
would you ever draw a botanical in watercolor pencil of the same color so that it disappears in painting?
Hi all,
Does anyone know where to get the reference photo of the rose please? I heard him say that it is on his project page, but I have not been unable to find it. There is no link in the description box. Thanks
