They are models! Sprites are 2d images. These are so much more expressive than before

Both enemies and playable characters are and I love how they respond to the context of the situation they are in. I also love the flowers that mimic and respond to what the player may be feeling at different parts of the level.
I think these really are sprites. Not realtime 3D models as in NSMB. But rather pre-rendered models converted into sprites. Like in Donkey Kong Country (1994).
This game feels like they told the Kirby devs to make a Mario game, idk why
Now that you mention it, I just noticed the background on this video reminds me SO much of Kirby's Return to Dreamland in the first world

My generation grew up with New Super Mario Bros. Wii and the many Mario games on the DS... And this is the game the current generation will grow up with! :)

Mario 3 and Mario World (although I was born in 1984 so I've seen them all).
Whats interesting is that there might be multiple variations of this theme depending on which powerup you have, since the doo doo dahs change into some sort of low brass instrument when you get the elephant powerup
Yes! We have also seen that the fire flower makes the music have a tropical/tiki/idk what you would call it sounding instrument
It's definitely a dynamic soundtrack.
It changes depending on what is happening, like additional instruments or even instruments switching around when you do something.

This song has such a relaxing, casual theme to it... And it also gives me 1970's vibes, mostly due to the whole psychedelic feel to the game, and the flower theming too. It's almost like a song made and sung by 70's hippies.

This does a few things I would NOT have expected for the typical formula for how these have been structured in the past. It does a partial repeat at a moment you'd expect it to "rest" for a few more measures, then it lays down without warning and does this totally atypical and somewhat lingering interlude thing with this willowly whistly sound thats was kind of hanging in the background all along and has this unexpected moment to shine.
We have evolved past the need for "ba"s. It is time for the age of "da"s

I find it interesting how different this is to past overworld themes. Like unless you told me, my first guess probably wouldn't have been "Mario".
Well I suppose… Personally I still think it sounds like a natural evolution of the Mario themes of old but it does stand out a lot more than the previous NSMB remixes of the 2010s
While it is very different, the "daa"s and "doo"s immediately scream Mario to me because it really reminds me of New Super Mario Bros 2 which had music full of the "bah"s

This theme has a pleasantly gentle vibe to it. Rather than being bright and boisterous as we have heard from past Mario games, the light tone for this works well in favor of the colorful Flower Kingdom vibe. The guitars are a nice touch. It's a refreshing change of pace for a Mario theme.
I think this track is called Pipe-Rock Plateau, since the world it's being played in is called that.
I think this song is just the general overworld theme.

I feel like this theme is like a mish mash of remixed riffs with the original Mario and Mario 3 overworld themes in a way. If you listen really hard and recalled you will notice them!

@@darrensmith9013 msbwii is great too, obviously not as good as wonder but for 2012 standards its awesome. People really only give it flac because aesthetically, U and nsb2 are very similar. But if you disect all the levels themselves its pretty unique, creative and fun - especially when grabbing your friends and chucking em off a ledge!
In 10 years, this probably will be nostalgic for me, looking back when I was young and thought this was the coolest 2D Mario ever…

Nah. This one is better. Especially at 0:43 has much more flavor to this. The only reason you guys are calling his version better is because this video had a poor quality which it not being exported in stereo format where the audio is crampled to the middle.
