Yes, I use colored electrical tape approximately 1/2" / 12mm wide along the leading edge of the wings, horizontal stabilizer, and vertical stabilizer / rudder. Definitely helps with durability, is easy to apply, and adds very little weight.
That was awesome. Is the Ahi a good plane for a beginner slope flyer? I’m well experienced with R/C planes in general, but I want to start sloping. Also, is this near crystal cove? Looks like a great spot to fly!
The Ahi is an easy to fly aerobatics plane that's pretty durable, but I don't know that it would recommend it to a complete beginner. I think you might be better served by a Weasel or Alula (both are from Dream-Flight). They are flying wings which are very agile and easy to fly, and can do a lot of "building block" aerobatic figures that you can later learn to perfect and expand upon if you get an aerobatics glider like the Ahi. The advantage of the flying wings is in their simplicity, durability and lower cost. Even better would be a plane made from EPP, though those are usually available in kit form and require actual building, as opposed to assembly as in the case of the Ahi. With that said, if you're dead-set on an Ahi, I would think you could learn with it, if you really wanted to. Just be prepared to purchase some replacement parts (available from Dream-Flight) for when the inevitable newbie crashes happen. (Spoiler alert: you keep crashing even when you're an experienced pilot, especially if you fly aerobatics. It's part of the hobby and nothing to be ashamed of or worry about)
surfimp thank you so much for the help!! I’ve been looking into the weasel and alula as well, and I think I’m gonna go with one of those. The alula seems like a more dossile plane and it flies better when the wind isn’t as strong, so I think I’m gonna go with it!
Ahhh, the force is strong within that boy! Congrats!
He's getting so good, so fast!
surfimp the day is coming soon where the two of you are going to be mirroring each other in the sky.
So glad you are posting again. Amazing flying
Thank you! I love to fly, and hope it shows :)
BTW, I have some FPV plans in the works... FPV VTPR is going to be a thing!
Amazing flight
that weasel flier is awesome, the 'ahi guy' isnt too bad either ;~)
I like your style.
A pure plesure to watch :)
Great! - do you tape your leading edges for protection?

Best sloping video I've seen!
Just received mine. What battery do you use?
well done ;))

Hi, would you let me know if you are using Flaperons, and where your CG is? Tks.
Yes am using flaperons and the CG is per the instruction manual.
your flying style is very inspirational. Either that or you are trying to get away from your son who appears intent on taking you out :)
where is it you are flying?
