Hi Nigel, great review. It looks like a great kit. It was nice to see you in the chat at Oz Scalemodeling today. It was a great show. Have a great day. Jeff
Mate great stuff, I believe that you should stay home and rest, And yes Pete will do fine thanks for supporting him, Looks like a great kit and another great review, Well Done, Cheers Jason
Just finishing building this myself. Awesome kit. Went together really well. I too had issues with a seam line on the glazing of the cockpit which comes in two halves, left and right and just didn't want to fit together nicely. I used filler and took care of that. I also struggled to get the tubular cockpit tub aligned properly with the fuselage positioning holes. It kept wanting to twist which made the instrument panel and rudder pedals not square and didn't help with the cockpit glazing seam when the canopy was fitted. Engine detail was good. Watch the alignment when you fit the back of the engine to the front of the engine - the push rods and cam covers I think they are - (part C31). It's possible to get this wrong and then the exhausts and cowlings won't fit so make sure its correctly aligned. The undercarriage bay is superbly detailed and no issues here with fitting. Turret just drops in at the end as a complete unit which is a nice touch. The jig to get the turret frames aligned was a really nice touch. If you do the B version there is a cutout on one of the engine cowlings on both open and closed cooling flaps options so don't get them mixed up! Drilled holes are all for radar appendages in the B version, so no need for any drilling for the A version. I chose the camouflaged scheme with black underside which looks phenomenal when painted up. What a pretty looking aircraft this is.
Hi Nigel as usual very nice review from you 👍👍, if it’s of interest to you the kit has Tropical Filters on the sprue just “ south west “ of the main wheels , so you can build a “ Desert version” from this boxing 🙂🙂
It does look like a nice kit. I recently built the Airfix Defiant which is a similar sort of age and everything went together beautifully- Airfix have really upped their game in the last few years. I'm going to the model show tomorrow- I'll definitely keep an eye out for you this time!
Looks like a terrific kit! Modern Airfix is SO different to the Airfix of my childhood (mid 60s to mid 70s), and I liked it back then too (not too much good competition sadly until Matchbox came along!); however, these new kits they're bringing out are just on a totally different level..!! 🙂 Great review... Thanks! 👍
I've placed an embargo on buying kits until I reduce the stash a bit, but this looks fantastic, so it's added to the wishlist. It's a plane I know diddly-squat about, which is always a good reason to build - learning as I go. Thanks for an interesting subject N. Hope your bumps and bruises are on the mend my friend.
Great review Nigel. Never did see or hear about this aircraft before but it looks great with all its glass. It did looked much smaller then I thought it would me. would love to see you build one.
Great review thanks Nige. That mark on the upper port wing really is a mystery, but as you said easily resolved. See if you can get a good 1/48 Beaufighter then you'll have the backbone of the RAF's early night fighter squadrons represented. Love the kit, it may very well go on the birthday wish list.
I sure hope you build this kit soon , I would Iike to do a build along with you! the airfix 1/24 hellcat was a blast. once you get the primer and paint on it looks fantastic. airfix has really come along way. now if only airfix could do a 1/24 f4u-1a corsair. I think I would have heart attack!
First time I ever saw Airfix kits was in 1971 (age 11) on Minot AFB, ND. Our neighbor at base housing was stationed in previously England and was an avid builder of 1/72 scale WWII aircraft. He would let me come over and drool on his displayed builds lol! Hasagawa, Tamiya, Monogram, and Revell we're the most popular kits back then, Airfix was not at the quality level they are now as I recall. Cheers!
Not bought any of the latter AF stuff because of the dire moulding and QC. Got caught to many times with QC issues. Will keep a eye on reviews and see if this improvenemt quality wise continues before i buy again
Hi, Nigel. I have both this Mk 1F (Fighter)and the Mk 1 (Bomber ) kit. They are both great kits and the Bomber includes a set of markings for a Maylayan-based machine whose pilot won the VC during the retreat to Singapore.. Like you, I do hope that that Airfix do the Mk IV and even the Mk V / Bolingbrook in future. The sprues and parts layout are certainly conducive to that. (Seoerate noses, engine cowlings and nacelles and even the engines) For such an important pre-war & early-wartime RAF type coth the Blenheim and the Fairey Battle have been criminally under-represented by model companies in the past.
This was the first modern Airfix kit I bought and I was very impressed by it. Airfix have really upped their game in the last few years. BTW, you have a 1/72 kit box shown in the thumbnail.
It would be interesting to see you build this as an out-of-the-box model on video. Lovely looking kit, I just can't stand the flat nose Blenheim I much prefer the long nose Blenheim IV. It is a later kit, dates from about 2019
Hi Nigel. It looks like a nice kit. Its a 2018 tooling. So pretty recent. This kit features a green over brown camo on one scheme. Airfix did release another version of this kit in 2020. That 2020 version has 2 schemes featuring brown over brown camo. The 2020 version also uses the bombs that are in the kit. Oh and your video thumbnail features the 1/72 scale Blenheim kit?
I'm glad you liked my model mate. For reference I used the AK Real colour set. One thing I would say is buy a canopy mask set!
Thanks for the tip!
One of my favourite planes older brother.
Same pilot in the spitties. He really gets around. I want this kit.

@@NigelsModellingBench Thanks for subbing my channel Nigel, I really appreciate it. I've been watching you for a long time and love your work. Jeff
there's an amazing story behind this aircraft and the pilot's VC

Popped in to do the thumbs up thingy will watch the full review tonight. Cheers mate.
Great review, looks like a great kit and will have to get me one. Cheers!
Go for it!

I'm a huge fan of the azure blue underside of the Mediterranean scheme so may get the newer tool from 2020 with that scheme as an option.

Another great review, Nige - looks really good... hope you are on the mend, and all the damage that still exists is under that blue plaster! :)

It looks beautiful built Nick
Looks great.
Now they need to do a 1/48 Halifax 😛 Wishful thinking I know! 😕
Great review that kit looks amazing ! thanks for the shout out, Cheers mate 🇭🇲👍

All Blenheim's are a challenge with the glazing. Nice kit None the less.
Have you built this one James?
@@NigelsModellingBench I've built the 1/72nd Mk.IVF, had the the 1/48th one, but sadly sold it on.

@@NigelsModellingBench Just checked my kit. No blemish on the upper wing. Might have been damaged when the box got battered?
Noticed it also thought it was funny

So sorry Nigel been catching up with videos been far too busy with work. Hope you're feeling better. Hope catch up on a Premier 👍
I hope so too
When I 1st saw this kit I thought it was said mk. if as in "what if"
The easy aircraft to keep an eye on your engine's much as the mosquito & lightning.
And the Beaufort and Hs129 in that list I guess

How stupid am I??? There I am spouting on about how lovely the brown on brown scheme was and in front of me is a green on brown scheme.. Doh.
Sounds like a fun quick build, but can you stick with the rules you’ve set yourself and build it like it was 19xx
Beautiful kit and nicely presented - pity it's in the "wrong " scale , 1/32 would be so good
Was that Ozed Scale Modeling???
OZ scale modelling mate
Think the package behind the pilot is the dingy.
What was the name of the company you bought the kit from?
Models For Sale
@@NigelsModellingBench Awsome, thank you
Did you build this kit yet?
No mate...
hi nigel
Just a comment for the algorithm
Interesting aircraft, sadly for the crews it was outdated when WW2 started.
