Nice tips! Just wanted to clarify, the only different dodge is block+up (avoid sweeps) Any other direction (up, left or right) behave the same with the animations just varying. You can use any direction you want (other than up) to avoid any attack that isn't a sweep.
Spatience is an awesome term. When I don't do this, my runs end up being very tense and chaotic, but when I remember to create space and not rush, I snap into a Zen feeling and can be precise. This game does an amazing job rewarding practice and level-headedness. Fantastic video!
Some important additions:. 1. You can press triangle to recover when you get knocked to the ground (good on big guys) 2A. There is parrying (hitting guard/block just before getting hit) and this weakens their structure. There is also deflecting/perfect parrying (hitting guard/block at just the right moment as an attack lands). I don't think every attack can be deflected. Deflection significantly weakens fighter structure. Both deflection and parry are important in sparing bosses 2B. Perfect parrying/deflecting is amazing and wonderful and I kind of knock it in this video. I did this a long long time ago at this point. With deflecting you just need to get really good knowing what attacks can be deflected and then it becomes a very important tool in your defense toolbox. 3. From Daniel M: The only different dodge is block+up (avoid sweeps) Any other direction (up, left or right) behave the same with the animations just varying. You can use any direction you want (other than up) to avoid any attack that isn't a sweep. -- Based on updates and fighting Kuroki now I think there are some sweeping, mid, and high attacks. Sweeps require block up (Lift foot) and high attacks require block low (duck). 4. I actually love deflecting and perfect parrying now, especially for certain fighters and situations. All of Sean's disciples are incredibly easy when you perfect parry at the right time. 5. When knocked back press down + block to stop in your tracks. If you structure is broken I don't think this will work.
I just started this game. I was doing pretty good just parrying everything. I watched your video and went in trying to avoid attacks instead. I'm now getting massacred, haha. I trust you know what you are talking about though, I'll keep practicing.
Thanks for this. It is a good reminder that I need to update my notes (which I did). I did this a while ago and I will say that only blocking is bad, but if you can parry and deflect that is very fun and a great defense. Don't change to dodging exclusively. I think there is a time and place for both.
Man i love this game but i really hate that they tainted takedowns with the glowing mini bosses. I don't understand why they decided to punish you by making some takedowns backfire. It sucks cause takedowns are cool af but i never risk them because its just not worth it! Great guide btw!
Thanks! I'm so glad it helped. Yeah, in the full levels you can get a sense of which fighters usually turn and not perform takedowns on them, but they do sneak up on ya
Did Saun ever got patched? I see people talk about him being so hard but my real first difficulty bump was the museum boss. Tip: map your defense to a face button
I think when this video was made, people struggled because they didn't know the game, myself included. Then people got really good and bosses got patched. Fajar on master and Kuroki phase 1 on any difficulty is tough. Then of course yang is very tough.
I need to understand how to avoid the vertical strike of an average guy with a weapon. Can’t do it. Next one i need to kill the girl before Sean without being touched. I’ve noticed that the ducking automatically works also for left and right avoid but not always!!!
Hell yeah. Great questions. A couple of things. 1. It has been explained to me that avoiding in any direction but up does the same thing, though the animation may be different. So to avoid a verticle attack you should be able to avoid in any direction but up and it's all about timing. That said I feel like I still avoid left or right for vertical attacks. IDK. 2. For attacks I struggle with and fighters I struggle with, I will just hold L1 / block more than try to avoid. 3. The woman before Sean. Okay. so she has a 3 or 4 phase combo that she uses most often. It ends with a straight punch. Even if you hold block the hold time just anticipating that strike and avoid on that one it will open a big vulnerability window. What the hardest thing for me before Sean is when the woman and man are right up on me. So, I try go after the guy first, hit him a couple time with the staff, then focus attack him. If that doesn't knock him out then I'll move around a bit so they don't gang up on me. I'll post a video tonight, too and hit you up.
@@Azeral7 game comparisons feel hard here. Sifu also has the aging mechanic / time loop stuff. This is also a beat em up where weapons are secondary. But in some ways sekiro with more technical combat feels close to what Sifu is. I'm a fan and think it's worth a buy, obv

Great! Thank you for clarifying!

Yes! That's it. That's what its all about. And that this game requires it of us makes it all the more brilliant. Thanks for watching!

Yo you throwing up all the Sifu guides man I'll be sure to watch them on my free time. Are you planning to do boss/level guides for the game as well?
Working on them right now!! Lmk what you'd like to see. Should have fajar, Sean, and Kuroki out in the next day or two.
Thanks for watching!!
Check out my channel for boss guides. 2 are out now. Love feedback!

So wait a minute, do you press L1 when an enemy tries to hit you from behind?
L1 anytime should parry and perfectly timed on some attacks will deflect/perfect parry.
Does that answer your question?
@@TheKozMLG so does L1 work with those enemies that try to attack you from behind(sneaking attack you). Because ik its for parrying
do you need to hold or press to dodge?
Just press it and you should dodge/scoot a lil ways.
So its pretty much sekiro woth more flushed out combat and gameplay
