    Tbf you could say the same about new ICE cars. It's also hard to defend a manual petrol car that heel-toe rev matches for you, flashes a light when to shift, has awful rev hang, pumps fake engine noise from the stereo, has traction
    /stability control you can't fully disable, will pull you back into your lane by itself, and will be beeping at you constantly during hard cornering and flashing the hazards at you in every braking zone on track.
    New cars in general are a joke. In my humble opinion, of course.

      To be fair, not all cars are targeted for the enthusiasts and have to comply with laws and regulations. The average Joe doesn't care about rev-matching, heel and toe nor rev hanging, but using their car as a tool to go places. Car companies struggle to make enthusiast cars due to regulations, like how the Toyota supra and GR86 will be taken off sale in the UK next year as it cannot comply with emission and driver assistance aid regulations (has to have a front Li-DAR sensor for auto-braking -crash avoidance-, requiring a full redesign of front end which isn't financially feasible for Toyota especially just for the UK market)

      @@sickbozzerI agree with you totally and fully understand the reality of the car industry. I just felt the guy in this video was speaking like EVs are the reason cars "don't have a soul" anymore when even a lot of "enthusiast cars" have already been plagued by everything I mentioned above and more for the last 10+ years. Like, a 370Z will rev match for you and that's been on sale since 2009.
      I feel like this clip was more ranting about the loss of enthusiast cars "with a soul" rather than your mum's ford focus kinda thing. He mentions brand heritage and history being damaged by EVs yet BMW have made the 1-series front wheel drive 5 years ago which seems like a bigger loss than some EV crossover Ioniq washing machines replacing ICE Qashqai crossover washing machines on the inside lane of the M25.

      @@wowcraftify Fair enough, I feel the same way. My parents recently got rid of their only manual car, and now we have 2 sodding SUVs (one petrol, auto and one electric) because its financially cheaper to buy an electric SUV than that of a small, manual hatchback (government incentives). It genuinely makes me feel depressed, but luckily I think I've talked my dad into getting a manual car now! EVs have no soul and I don't feel any remorse or sadness when I see one in a poor condition or even (very rarely) abandoned.

    Personally i like some things EVs offer over Petrol/Diesel cars.
    I like that they are quiet, on a normal cars the engine sounds like shit tbh especially diesels. The performance and smoothness they offer is great, no gear changes and if you want to accelerate quickly you have full power instantly. And one thing is like politically is that electricity is pretty easy to make, which possibly means more independence from shitty countries.
    I think most cars will be EVs in the future, but they will coexist with ICE cars. EVs are still pretty early in their development stage and will get better, while ICEs have not changed much for 10 years.

    I'm not exactly a car enthusiast, but I've always had a distaste for modern cars and EVs. The main thing is the overcomplication; nothing is simple, everything's beyond your capabilities to fix. I'm a person who values simplicity and that's what these older cars had going for them.
    I would sooner walk than drive these overly complicated vehicles. One minor issue crops up and that's it! Tow it right back to the manufacturer to replace one of the thousands of computer chips that went awry and made your car undrivable. Screw that!
    Those good old days where you and your uncle fix your grandma's Ford Focus are gone, or they soon will be. It's nothing to me, I don't care, but I'm just not going to buy a modern car. Quite honestly, it's a foolish thing to buy a modern car. Modern cars own you more than you own them, they drive you, it makes me sick from a philosophical perspective.
    I'm still using older cars to get by and I love them. When I get behind the wheel, I'm in control. They don't beep at me, they let me turn wherever I want, they only brake when I press the brakes, I can open up the engine block and see the logic of their mechanisms with my own two eyes. That's how I like it, maybe I'm old school. Someone would surely spit at my feet and say 'get with the times, buddy. Thems days are over!' Like @fairladyzee2152 or the 10 peeps who disliked this video who will surely dislike what I have to say. My opinion is unpopular, let it be. What's popular has been dog water for the longest while now, so I don't care. I'll take being unpopular over being stupid any day of the week.
    Yes, it's likely inevitable, but that doesn't mean I have to like it. Just like the laws of physics are inevitable, but I don't like them. 2+2 is 4 and I resent that, so what? Anyone who resents me for thinking like this is doing the same thing I'm doing, resenting something they have no control over.
    Peace!

    There's nothing you can do about the fact that EV'S will replace ICE cars in the near future. Instead of complaining about how bad they are, enjoy the little time you have left with combustion engine cars. EV'S are simply better for the planet and so they will take over, at the detriment of the car community.

    • @EthanWasHereCS2
      @EthanWasHereCS2  2 месяца назад +2

      There is no way that you've just said that "EV's are simply better for the planet". Please read through some of the statistics and studies done that say EV production, for mining of cobalt which is used to create the batteries and many other materials that need to be mined for the production of these cars are through the roof when it comes to how much CO2 and emissions in general are produced. But I do agree on you with the fact that we must enjoy these combustion engines now instead of complaining about the future of cars. Hopefully we can stand up as a community and fight for it though. Companies are already getting rid of their EV departments anyways which is a good sign.

    • @fairladyzee2152
      @fairladyzee2152 2 месяца назад +3

      @@EthanWasHereCS2 You may be reading the wrong studies then, because governmental EPA's state that over the lifetime of the vehicle, the total emissions associated with manufacturing, charging and driving an EV are typically lower than that of a gasoline car. And when it comes to companies EV departments, Ford has not successfully mass-manufactured a single EV, hence why they are reducing their production capacity, and BMW are investing 650 million Euros to convert their main manufacturing plant to produce EXCLUSIVELY EV's, explaining why they are halting manufacture until 2027. I have nothing against petrol cars, I love them myself, I just think its silly to deny that EV's are a logical step forward for the innovation of motor vehicles.

    EVs are here to stay whether we like it or not. Small EVs are perfect for cities and urban areas, not producing noise and air pollution, but this is not how they're being marketed. They come as crossovers or SUVs that weigh upwards of 2 Tonnes and are no better for the environment due to the resources, refining and manufacturing of the elements that make up a battery. Not to be nit-picky, but companies aren't ditching their EV departments, but rather severely reducing EV production and changing their 'EV switch' goals to be as late as possible, much like what Audi recently did. In the UK alone, the government will fine car companies who's EVs don't make up 25% of all car sales, when the current market share is 16% and decreasing, fining manufacturers £15000 on every car that could've been sold as an EV to make that target.
    It's not just the car companies fault, but environmentalists who don't do their research along with governments.
    Hot take, but I see e-fuels as being a good, mid-to-long term solution to create carbon-neutral cars without needing to create massive amounts of infrastructure or create new cars, whilst making us car enthusiasts happy and make the average customer not make massive changes to their lifestyle.
    From personal experience, my dad bought (leased) a Tesla Model Y 2 years ago, and wants to change back to a diesel next year 🤣

      I think this is the most constructive argument I've seen in this comment section so far, I completely agree with everything you've just said to be completely honest. I've heard that Ford has actually stated, or a spokesperson from Ford themselves, have come out and said that they will be removing their EV's from dealerships and already have across most of America. I might've gotten that part wrong yes I'll admit about Ford completely getting rid of their EV departments. But overall, it's true. EV's as a whole are I think, even worse than your normal petrol or diesel engines. It's a real shame that this is happening to us honestly. I just hope that these e-fuel versions of cars are going to make us car enthusiasts happy.
