I've had the XL for many years, used to play live with it and people were always like wow, that's not a tube amp! A little secret I'll share with you in case you didn't know, on the back, the loop section you have a switch that goes up or down, I found out accidently that if you square it up in the middle position it really opens up the amp. It's almost like a boost - check it out!
A guy has Supreme XL close to me for $120 for head and cab!!! Believe it or not, and yes the amp had some issues and was doing a little research to see if its even worth the hassle to repair. Also, Im sure if a tube screamer, or any other type of decent boost pedal was thrown in front of these amps, they would howl like a deranged werewolf!!!!
I may be getting the XL soon, it sounded great in the store, both my friend and I thought it was a tube amp and were pretty surprised it wasn’t! Also nice rocking!
@@immortalgram I have not! I felt the xl just had so much gain that I didn't even think to try it with an OD. Bet it would sound gnarly with the MT-2 with all knobs at full blast.
Did you add that skull on the XL? Mine just has a "Supreme" logo... But yeah, man... I got a killer deal on the XL and I actually like that amp way more than I thought I would... Definitely a cool one for the collection... 🤘

Have you tried rolling the gain back on the xl and boosting with an overdrive? I tried the SD1 and the 808. To my ears the 808 sounds better.

This amp is also perfect for black metal tones. Especially the early Norwegian stuff.

I did not put it on there hahaha, somebody def thought it was deadly. The amp is phenomenal and esp for a solid state. Basically a XXX solid state.
