This song always makes me want to break things but in the best way possible. This live version gives me the chills every time I watch it, so fucking awesome!
"The first duo (Joe Daniels and Scott Lucas) in the history of the HFStival, these guys from Zion, Illinois impressed the hell out of us at this year's HFSkimo Snow Job." -From the pocket guide handed out at the festival. The inner stage lineup in order: Jimmie's Chicken Shack, The Cardigans, Kula Shaker, Blondie, The Verve Pipe, Luscious Jackson, Local H, Echo & the Bunnymen, Mighty Mighty Bosstones, Jamiroquai, Beck, Prodigy.
Yes they are so underrated . I saw them at the Exit/In here in Nashville in about 97. They were awesome. Met the lead singer. He gave me a pick. They rocked the house. I will never forget that.
Such an off brand group. Bass pickup in the guitar, high-hat floating in orbit for Joe, a left handed drummer. This is why I wish I were born a decade earlier: because bands were making music that had meaning beyond being cool behind it.
they're garbage without Joe, period. California songs was the only song I could tolerate with the new drummer. i think his name is st. Pierre? correct me if im wrong
he left in 2013, they have a new drummer name ryan harding. and they arent garbage, california songs is the least of their best. they make amazing music, with joe or not.
Ah, WHFS... what an awesome radio station. This is from their "HF-estival" they had every year. It was kind of a big deal. I'll never forget how disappointed I was to come back to the area after living away for 5 years and discovering 99.1 turned into a rap station. =(
@Sappy22889 Most of the time its management and their failure in marketing bands that makes this happen. My cousin is a prime example. His old band is called test your reflex. I thought they were gonna blow up with that record. He also wrote the song through the trees for jennifers body and is in the movie. He is making a living but busting his ass to break through. The music business is a mix between, luck, talent, and timing.
@damien s- its at RFK stadium in wash, dc. As someone said already its from hfestival, hfs was a cool Baltimore/dc alt rock station, but that was back in the day..
thanks....yep just discovered it off the album of theirs i just got...so fuckin good...as good as dead....great album...and this song is solid gold live...
I'm so surprised no one really talks about the lyric content. So it seems like it's an attack on punk - specifically h/c punk from the mid 90s (assuming this is when the song was written). He starts by saying punk is dead, and you're next. Then he clearly makes references to minor threat, being straight (edge?). References to "back in the day" could mean that the h/c punk in the 80's was "cool" but not this new stuff. In the 90s We would be talking about popular bands like Strife and Earth Crisis - admittedly some crappy hc punk bands. But by this time, powerviolence has established itself (and continues) as real punk. Maybe he didn't know enough about the genre.
Scott is a very opinionated guy and in a way he is right. punk died in the late 90s and whatever's out right now is recycled regurgitating shiot bro. i grew up in the late 80s to late 90s and i can tell you Scott is telling the truth. The only band thats good is a hippy type band called Tame Impala...check them out if you like Floyd,Cream, and the Beatles. It basically those bands had a baby and Tame Impala is it. i highly recommend them

Hey Joe! I always loved the way you played drums.. no offense to Brian but you made the songs rock I wish I could find a hard hitting drummer around here to jam with
@AgentDuckypants yea, i wonder why he left after just 2 years, somebody said that he opened a children's clothing store with his wife in illinois...?....ummmmm o.k..ha......i seriously doubt it pays as much as being the drummer of a huge band at the time, maybe he didnt care about the money just wanted 2 be around his family.idk.....but yea i love 90's music-Candlebox, STP, Pearl Jam,AIC,Collective Soul,Live, Gin Blossums....etc-just a great era in music
Hey Joe! Much appreciated! i was 12 when i was here. I ranted about your set for years. I don't like comparing you and brian. both of you are great and fun as hell to watch. How's Bruiser?
Lefty and he was killer to watch!! Me being a drummer and watching them live back in 97 was life changing! I only seen em live once and by me saying life changing is no joke! Epic for an aspiring teenage drummer! Joe you were amazing to watch!
Joe Daniels was such an underrated drummer. Pure power.
THIS BAND IS SO UNDERRATED!!!!!!
110% always have been for some reason? Under appreciated as well
Insomniac 💯
Scott is such an underrated guitar player. Met him a few years ago, cool guy
There was time... When bands would rock... But that was back in the day, but that was back in the day...
It's good as dead
They definitely shoulda played at Woodstock 99..Damn!
yeah but that was back in the day
@@strawberrycoughdrops7650 i see what ya did dere
Is that a bit of Led Zeppelin (Heartbreaker) we hear in the beginning?!? Awesome.
I was at this show. Damn they were awesome. Only band that really wanted to rock all damn day. 2 brothers took a brother by surprise.
This is one of the best rock bangers of all time.
This song always makes me want to break things but in the best way possible. This live version gives me the chills every time I watch it, so fucking awesome!
thats the coolest looking drum set up ive ever seen. it looks like a cartoon! i dig it
Damn, Local H is awesome

i missed that one but Jimmies chicken shack was decent and of course local h and jamiroqi was good too. (sic)
Yes they are so underrated . I saw them at the Exit/In here in Nashville in about 97. They were awesome. Met the lead singer. He gave me a pick. They rocked the house. I will never forget that.
local h now is just as good, very very good live band, the new album is great
everything they play live is better than what you hear on the cd.
"back in the day" album "as good as dead"
getting harder and harder to find local H
Damn, I was born that year.
Such an off brand group. Bass pickup in the guitar, high-hat floating in orbit for Joe, a left handed drummer. This is why I wish I were born a decade earlier: because bands were making music that had meaning beyond being cool behind it.
I saw them in an outdoor setting like this once year later in 1998 in New Orleans, they JAMMED
this song is awesome...in fact the whole album was awesome
yooo this band is awesome
Joe is a fucking animal! Damn.
Badass drummer
Powerhouse rawking. Love these guys.
Joe Daniel's had such an influence on my drumming. Local H is one of my favorite bands.
Local H is still making very good rock and roll
.check it i you aint scurrrrrred
they're garbage without Joe, period. California songs was the only song I could tolerate with the new drummer. i think his name is st. Pierre? correct me if im wrong

Wayne Bainbridge you are wrong on so many levels.
This is why I love Local H
Best live band I can think of. =D
And best band recorded too.
Ah, WHFS... what an awesome radio station. This is from their "HF-estival" they had every year. It was kind of a big deal. I'll never forget how disappointed I was to come back to the area after living away for 5 years and discovering 99.1 turned into a rap station. =(
please god get this FULL concert out. somebody, someone, somehow.
don't mess with Scotts water
Such a badass band, still killing it too.
2guys jamming hard. Great talent!!!!!
imo, they play this song better live like this than the recorded song ^^
probably because the album is overproduced. Eddie Veder, High Fiving MFer rule it
@Sappy22889 Most of the time its management and their failure in marketing bands that makes this happen. My cousin is a prime example. His old band is called test your reflex. this is absolutely ferocious, fucking hell
Damn. That drummer is insane. He is so fast it looks like the tape was sped up.
Mad show - giving it 200% the whole way
Local H outperforms any band on any bill they're on...seen it with my own eyes. With only two members at that.
this drummer is so powerful!
Joe Daniels giving his soul
Scott: "back in school yea you were cool"
And I saw them 20 years later in a tiny bar, and he still rocks the fuck out.
Rocking a stadium with a two man line up.
PERFEITA!!!! PURO GRUNGE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! FUCKING!
1:28 👀 nice!!!
SOMEONE GET THIS WHOLE SHOW! the audience is huge
@damien s- its at RFK stadium in wash, dc. As someone said already its from hfestival, hfs was a cool Baltimore/dc alt rock station, but that was back in the day..
OMG Scott Lucas has an Ace Ventura haircut going on! :D
thanks....yep just discovered it off the album of theirs i just got...so fuckin good...as good as dead....great album...and this song is solid gold live...
Two words: holy shit!
Fuck..I don't even know the song but I liked it and the drummer kicks ass

+Wayne Bainbridge Yeah I don't think so. :Like I said, thrash and powerviolence had started by then and are well and alive now.
Bandas como local H deberian estar en lolapalloza
HARD.
Damn, he was playing Whole Lotta Love. That's balls right there.
Joe is/was the most unconventional hardest hitting drummer ever

Hey Joe! Much appreciated! i was 12 when i was here. I ranted about your set for years. I don't like comparing you and brian. both of you are great and fun as hell to watch. How's Bruiser?
I wish there was a movie based after Local H

dillon b. Joe is lefty.
Lefty and he was killer to watch!! Me being a drummer and watching them live back in 97 was life changing! I only seen em live once and by me saying life changing is no joke! Epic for an aspiring teenage drummer! Joe you were amazing to watch!
