Hello, the lyrics of the original version were much longer than we know today. It was shortened in official acts to only the first part of the first verse; the second part of the last verse and "the laurels are eternal" for 2 reasons, the bulk of this version attacks Spain as it is the Hymn of the Wars of Independence, and singing it in its entirety is inhumane, its duration is almost 30 minutes.

No se si ataca a España, lo que si cuenta es como se van desarrollando los hechos de aquella epoca, como sufrian los pueblos por el sometimiento Español, y como iban liberandose, nada mas, el resto queda a criterio de cada uno. Es una tremenda composicion!
@@morfeomatos3439 En la presidencia de Julio Argentino Roca Argentina tenia buenas relaciones con España, y quería seguir de ese modo, en ese momento fue cuando se propuso acortar el himno, y una de las razones es la que mencioné, quedó asentado en el decreto que estableció el acortamiento, no es una interpretación mia, sino historia. Estoy de acuerdo que es una tremenda composición, y también que queda a criterio de cada uno, pero mi mensaje son datos, no opiniones. Por otro lado, es increible ver como a la gente le gusta contradecir corregir o tirar mala onda, pero cuando hay que tirar datos o explicar algo nadie gasta ni 5 minutos de su tiempo.

La letra es maravillosa la original es larga pero te cuenta como muchos países de Latinoamérica junto con argentina se liberaron y con tanta fuerza ...o juremos con gloria a morir ..esa fuerza.

that is only a part of it. the complete version has 110 verses plus the chorus, and it tells the story of the battles we had to fight against Spain to become free. The May revolution was in 1810, then came the independence war, till 1816 when we defeated the spaniards and won our independence.

It's a neoclassical poem and each verse has got 10 metric syllables (Oid-mor-tá-les-el-grí-to-sa-grá-do). The original music is lost, but, if you recite it with the proper accents, it sounds more epic and martial.

my personal recolection in the true meaning of our anthem is how much we wished for freedom. If you analize the lyrics closer you can interpretate the "glory" as freedom, freedom makes us equals to the rest world, we call for the world to recognizes us as argentineans becuase we are free people, our laurels are the freedom we fought for, our glory, will rather be crowned in glory (as free men) or die in it, we won't never be slaved, conquered or colonized again.
This anthem is a deep reflection of our history: en 1806 and 1807 the british invaded us and we kicked them out by ourselves, without help from europe, defeating the mightiest army in the world made us see we could be more than a colony. When napoleon took spain was now or never, we started our war for independece, we proclaimed freedom of womb before even making a declaration of independence, we crossed the highest mountains in the western emisphere to make sure the spaniards wouldn't returned (that's why one of our founding fathers is partially the founding father of both chile and peru). and to finished it all, our motto is: "en union y libertad" "in union and freedom"

Este no es el himno original de nuestra nacion, el original fue cortado para "no ofender" a la corona invasora de España... La version original la canta la banda de metal llamada "TREN LOCO" está en internet con letra y se llama "himno nacional clandestino" del disco "Sangre Sur" saludos
