Who'd have thought that Stephen King, of all people, could write a story so much about hope. Guess surviving a car crash changes your perspective on things.
"....no matter what you're going through, no matter how dark things get in your personal prison, hope is what sets you free". - I needed to hear that today,. I really had forgotten that message. Thank you JOb.
Thanks for another great video! I'm always surprised by how many people don't realize that the title redemption is not Andy's, it's Red's. To redeem is to give value to something that seemingly has none. Red believed that his life had no value, but Andy showed him that hope could change that.
Stephen King's novella "Rita Hayworth and the Shawshank Redemption" is excellent, but I think Frank Darabont created a masterpiece anyone can find hope in. On of my favorite scenes is Andy playing the opera for all the prisoners, though that isn't in the novella, it truly does soar.
RUclips is like Shawshank: most of us here are just using our time to watch little videos to distract ourselves and accept our bleak lives for what they are. We don't dare to hope for quality content because what good will that do? We can reflect on what we've done to get stuck here but we can't turn that into the aspiration of the the good writers that many of us want to become. But, due to Just An Observation's skillful presentations I now feel that there should be more to life than mere entertainment. I want to feel more than just the fear of failure: I want to feel in touch with my humanity and believe that tomorrow could be better. So, I seek out opportunities to write my next script being mindful of the lessons that I have learned here.
I've been feeling a lot like Red lately, thinking if it's better to live with no hope. However, even if after many years hope sets you free, it'll be so worth it. Thanks for this wonderful video. Get busy living or get busy dying.
I'm so glad that you've been putting out a lot of content. Shawshank is my favourite film and I was hoping you would cover it in some way. Hoping more subscribers are coming your way soon
Going to be liking and commenting on all of these to help the algorithm push your channel.I know everyone says it but you’re easily the most underrated channel. Cant wait to say I was here before you blew up!!!
I think I've been at rock bottom in my life for a few months now, and really what I needed was a little hope. I want to be a filmmaker but lately it's gotten harder and harder to believe in myself. I haven't valued myself in a long time. This video reaffirmed to me that I'm only going to fail if I give up...so I won't. I am only limited by me. Thank you for an awesome video and a lot of inspiration, love the channel.
Andy was a true angel! Light in darkness! Red was the middle man the human with fears and doubts, and the warden was the true evil who masks himself as good !
The thesis of the story is perfectly summed up in its final words from Red. "I hope i can make it across the border. I hope to see my friend, and shake his hand. I hope the pacific is as blue as it is in my dreams. I hope."
Lovely video. I assume you've seen Like Stories of Old's essay on Shawshank? It's probably my favorite video on RUclips. This is both a fitting companion piece and beautiful in its own right. You bring fresh insights that I haven't seen mentioned before. Keep it up, and one day I'll be able to say I was watching your videos when you still had time to read all the comments. ;-)
@@JustanObservation keep making the content YOU want, that inspires and motivates YOU. The rest will come in time and even if it didn't the time was still well spent because you did something you felt fulfilled by. It's the moment people start doing things solely because they feel it's what others want that the quality drops. Now I realise the irony that I recently requested a suggestion to you. But that is only if you felt a passion for that suggestion once having looked into it. When the passion isn't there, neither is the magic that makes something worthwhile.
I do find so much character illustration in this film. We all hope we can be Andy. I know I’m not. I am Brooks. Thank you for this beautiful truth. Uncomfortable as it may be.
1:55 There have been an estimated 100 billion people alive on Earth throughout history. Currently about 8 billion of them are alive. This means that technically we are only 92% sure that everyone dies.
Great content....I was looking for channels like these and it was great....it'd be really great if you were willing to add english subtitles to it......useful for non english speakers
To be completely honest I loved the pandemic and found it great being able to stay at home 24/7. Luckily no family or friends have died of covid either. Strangely I feel like I lost nothing.
Although I was really glad these two had met at the end,I always think the ending scene really shouldn't be there and the film should have ended with Red on the bus.
The message could be boiled down to, “Always choose life, no matter how bad it might seem in the present moment. “
One of the best comments I’ve ever read couldn’t agree more
From personal experience, I can say thats the smartest thing to do
No doubt. Live and let die ought to usually be ‘live and let [it] go’
Shawshank Redemption is an abseloute masterpiece, and one of the best movies I have ever seen!

Thanks ;) I haven’t yet (I try not to watch any videos on the same subjects before I make my own to avoid accidentally copying them)... but I will!
This gave me a new perception! Thank you from the bottom of my heart!
This is very good channel!
Fantastic content. Very very under rated channel.
Beautifully conveyed man. You deserve many views . And i HOPE soon your channel will shine like a star someday
Great video. An acknowledgment of Stephen King is in order since he wrote the Novella the movie is based on.
Such a great movie! Gets me every time.
I hope that one day when channel blows up this kind of content wouldn't change
Everything changes but I will hope to be making better and better content- or at least new things that interest me but better editing

thank you. i needed to see this right now
finally someone made video on hope of Shawshank redemption
😂
Andy never let Shawshank break his spirit. Hope is dangerous as Red says because wth hope, someone is capable of anything.
Really impressive
Amazing, as always!
Love this channel! Break it down.
Amazing commentary. Very enjoyable.
Amazing stuff, binge watching your content, your are something special!
My name is Hope and this one resonated with me differently
‘Get busy living or get busy dying’
Sounds like Risky bidness to me, but well worth the benefit when compared to the cost (risky business, 1982).
rewatching this, great video

Great analysis 👍

Easily in my top three movies!
Very very beautiful movie!

Very good
For all intents and purposes this film was considered a "flop". Then VHS and word mouth turned it into the modern classic it is today.
Good job

The first time I watched the Shawshank redemption was on mushrooms. It was immensely powerful
Well, I can't comment on your newest video, so I guess I will have to comment on this one again!
Haha thanks. I didn’t disable the comments youtube did I can’t change it unfortunately
@@JustanObservation yeah you're good, I've seen plenty of videos with child actors where comments aren't disabled. YT confuses me sometimes.
In order to face your difficulties, you shouldn't back up,you should face it
This is just an observation, but this channel is fucking sick!
Thank you!
favourite new chanel. banging conetent
Why are the comments disabled on your latest video?
I know! RUclips did it because there are child actors in the video. I did not choose it and don’t understand it
Make a video on the show Gravity Falls
