I feel like the conversation of the importance of daily practice often includes something like "magic is like a muscle and it doesnt grow if you don't use it." Which is absolutely true, muscles don't grow if you sit there. But its important to remember that even people who work out their physical body usually do it only 3-5 days a week to allow for rest days, or they work out a different muscle group every day, because OVERWORKING your muscles is going to cause injury and set you back in the long run. If practicing every single day causes you burnout and then you fall out of practice for 4-7+ days because you burnt yourself out, you're losing more progress than if you just allowed yourself rest days in the first place. Rest days are PART of the muscle growth process. Rest days are self care and *allowing* yourself to sit down and rest and just enjoy a day can be a practice in spiritual growth all on it's own for people who always feel like the need to go go go all the time no matter how tired they are.

A simple and super easy but powerful way that I Daily Practice is to pray over my food. Hopefully you eat at least once a day, so pray over it.

You can pray to a specific Deity, or to Mother Earth, whatever you feel comfortable with. Ask that they bless your meal by partaking of the first bite so that it will nourish your body and soul; Thank them for bounty of the harvest that they have blessed you with.

Give thanks for any other blessings that might come to mind, and close by saying something along the lines of "These things I pray in your names God and Goddess :::insert those here:::, So Mote It Be!"
I've done this for so long now that I just about can't eat without doing it.

I'm actually half-blind (I have less than 2% eyesight in my left eye), so visualization is really hard for me, because my brain is really bad at remembering how something looks, but what can really help ist to "visualize" how something smells or sounds or feels. Example: I can't really visualize rain, so I "visualize" how rain feels on my skin, or how the air smells after it rained or try to hear how rain sounds to cleanse myself trough that rain during a meditation.

i have aphantasia, so meditation is often a huge struggle for me.
here are some methods i tend to use!
~hold something- a crystal, a stuffed animal, anything that corresponds with your intention for that time. focus on how it feels, focus on the energy it has, and then focus on your own feeling and energy.
~focus on the way you are breathing. this can be uncomfortable for some people, but it tends to help me get into that meditative mindset if i am mindfully breathing, or breathing to a certain tempo or pattern. think about inhaling your intent, and exhaling what you want to banish from yourself (like negativity or anything that doesn't benefit your intent).
~listen to music, asmr, wind, or rain (open a window?) while you sit and take in the noise.
~surround yourself with a mediative feeling. what element is most prevalent in you? for fire, wrap a blanket around you, light a candle, or don a comfort clothing item. for water, take a bath or shower, take care of yourself, or drink something. for air, open a window if it's cold/windy or stick your face in the fridge/freezer for a short period of time. for earth, go outside for a bit (if you are able to!). if you can't, talk to a plant or animal in your home. while doing these things, think about harnessing that element's energy inside of you and how that can serve you and/or your intent.

Sacred napping is a very important part of Pan veneration! (Sorry, you mentioned napping, and that's the first thing that sprang to mind xD.)
Also, if you are looking into deity work/ veneration/ worship, consider one that has a disability themselves. Plenty of pantheons have such deities. They are often overlooked, which is a shame, because if anyone is going to understand your limitations and differences, it's going to be a deity that can share that with you. They're often going to be patient with you in a way other deities might not be. (Shout out to Hephaestus, who reached out to me when I felt like no one loved me, struggled with self-worth issues, and was mocked for my physical appearance. I may not have been able to worship him for personal reasons, but even just reading on his stories and figuring out why he might have reached out to me in the first place really helped me out a lot.)

I really needed this. I have pretty bad ADHD and depression, as well as horrible executive dysfunction. It makes it difficult to remember and actively do anything every day, even something like brushing my teeth. I feel like the only daily practice someone would need is to acknowledge their craft. Even if you can't get out of bed, wash your face, anything. Just saying "Hey, I'm a witch. I like the moon and red jasper." is thinking about your craft, and helps you to not drift away from it. Read a note or two about witchy subject, light a candle, talk to your plants, close your eyes and say something to your spirit guides or dieties aloud. That's keeping in touch with your craft, and acknowledging that part of your life. If that's all you can do that day, that week, that month, it's okay. You are still engaging with your practice, and that's what a daily practice is for.

A tip I have for meditation is to when you're feeling like your mind is going a mile a minute and you can't stop thinking I like to imagine with each exhale that I am letting out all of that energy and when I inhale to bring in peace and concentration. This has really helped me and I've struggled with meditation for a while. Also keep in mind that if you do have disabilities and can't get out of bed remember, you can meditate in bed! Another really good reference for helping with meditation is Exercise 6 Cacoon of Relaxation in Mat Auryn's book Psychic Witch.

I also use speech-to-text to journal digitally on days when writing hurts, audiobooks are awesome, I pre-make cold tea/infusions with ginger for nausea, I keep my meds on my altar so my deities can look after them and so I never forget to greet them every day.

Hey! my name is Kacie and I have a condition called Aphantasia. So I have another method that completely relies on feeling rather than sight. During meditation, I begin by feeling a small ball of energy at the crown chakra. I then feel it run down my spine and separates into all parts of my body and is released from my toes and fingertips, I can feel this happening. by doing this I have grounded and centered myself into the earth and I am ready to begin my mediation. when doing guided meditations they usually ask for you to visualize a specific scene, instead use your other senses- what can you smell, feel, taste and touch. just because you cant use one of your senses doesn't mean you can't use the others.
Hope this helps anyone that needs it. xxxxxx

I have aphantasia! When meditating on rare occasions i will see very vivid imagery through my third eye that I cannot control, but for the most part it is black/fuzzy sometimes there are hues of color that come and go, but i find meditating to be one of my favorite spiritual practices and here is why! Not being able to see actually takes a bit of the pressure off i found, i just need to find meditations that aren’t so visually heavy or find other ways to interpret the visual ques with my other sense. Like if the person guiding the meditation says were on a beach i try to imagine what it smells like, is it cold, what does the sand feel like on my feet, and put together what is happening around me that way. My biggest advice if you are not someone who sees visually in their head would be to not stress it too much if the meditation isn’t going how you expected it to or how you imagined, just try to release your control and take what you can from it. Hope that helps!

I have a really hard time visualizing. Im a really auditory person therefore personally I use sounds or sound effects as a guide. For instance if I am cleansing and putting up wards, as I draw my protection sigil on doors and windows I make a sound effect with my mouth like bricks are being put on each other or sometimes I make a scenario and say it out loud kinda like how youd read a paragraph out loud. It helps me sometimes actually visualize or I can feel the wards come up. I am still at the beginning of my craft so I havent tried astral projection or anything too visual based. I focus more on protection, manifestation and sigil magick for now but I hope this helps someone. You can refer to your other senses and it should be as good as visualizing!

I'm autistic and am easily overwhelmed by having lots of tasks to do in a day. Having a really simple daily practice that I don't have to think about very much is super helpful. What I choose to do is "ring in" energy every morning using my singing bowl, though I'm sure you could also do it with a bell, chimes, or anything that just makes a pleasant sound. I'm excited to do it every morning because I also find the sound very pleasing on a sensory level. To any other autistic witches out there: if you have any sensory stims you can channel those into a daily practice, just by adding an intention.

As far as grounding goes, because I struggle with visualization (Neurodivergent/ADHD), I use a lot of mindfulness habits I learned in therapy! DBT (as opposed to CBT) is super helpful for this, because it's more based in DIALECTICAL behavior instead of COGNITIVE behavior, so it's more based on your connection to the physical world.
A lot of this work is focused in centering and grounding yourself by using your senses and really honing into sensations that we might otherwise overlook. Examples like temperature of the room, how your clothes feel on your skin, whatever you're sitting/laying on, how that feels, your own internal sensations like heart rate, your skin/body temperature, etc.
This has been so incredibly helpful and I'm so thankful for my therapist showing me these options!

    • @thalmorbiznitch4028
      @thalmorbiznitch4028 3 года назад +1

A meditation practice rooted in DBT is focusing on your breathing, and how it feels to do tummy breathes instead of chest breathing (which are scientifically proven to lower stress hormones). Putting your hand on your stomach, and the other one on your chest, and pay attention to which you're using to breathe, and redirect it. Feel your breath literally flow through your body with each one.
It has brought me down from panic attacks. 10/10 would recommend.

With grounding, I do not visualize too often. I focus on feeling everything physically. I feel the floor, push my toes into the ground. I push down on things to feel their realness. I activate all my senses to truly ground myself in the moment. And I open my heart to find my stability.

I have aphantasia and physical/mental disabilities and one of my favorite things on low spoon days is to take a meditation deck i have (or you could make your own or throw topics in a flash card app!) and pull a card that just has a word on it and then put on some kind of music or sound and just focus on the word while i'm laying in bed or sitting on the couch. I just think about the word and what it means and how I can apply it. Sometimes I fall asleep, but since I was focusing on it, my dreams are often based around it and can give me some insight on where to go with it or why that was the card I picked. A quick version is also throwing a bunch of songs that have different meanings to you into a playlist and hitting shuffle and just kind of divining messages from deities/ancestors that way.

Wow! We were just talking about this last night. You don't have to light up the whole show every day to be fulfilled. Simple routines work, and don't have to be perfectly scheduled. Put ideas and actions into simple things like stirring a blessing into your hot tea. Or thanking the food you are cooking and fixing for a meal as a Blessing. Saying a simple morning affirmation when you wake up works just fine.

I love this video because it reminds me that I don't need to be constantly doing something magickal or witchy, and what I do already is more than enough. Thank you for reminding me that I don't need to do big rituals all the time to be a successful practitioner!
Witchcraft and spiritualism are a massive part of my life and takes up a lot of my free time by choice. I have so much mental energy buzzing around that I cannot seem to do enough; I'm the type of person that feels like I need to constantly be doing something productive with my mind. The thing is, I always feel like I struggle with maintaining a daily practice, but I think what I actually struggle with is feeling like I should be doing more than I do, despite doing a lot. I veil, cleanse my aura, wear protective jewelry and crystals, and stir intentions into coffee daily. I research almost constantly, as having audiobooks going or youtube videos running almost consistently, if I'm not working or doing school. I also journal and pull tarot cards almost every day. Its a lot, but since its all so simple and small I forget that what I'm doing is a part of my practice, and I feel like I don't do nearly as much as I should. But, I'm doing more than enough. Thank you for reminding me of that!

i am nearly fully incapable of visualizing and so i’ve had to find ways to work around that whenever i’m doing an activity that usually requires visualization (grounding, meditating, certain spellwork). i find that intent is my best friend in compensating; if i’m required to visualize something but i cannot, i VERY firmly narrate what i should be seeing in my head to myself until i start to believe it. using a popular example of picturing, say, a glowing thread of energy connecting me to something during grounding or otherwise, i instead think With Intent about that. so instead of visualizing the thread, i tell myself stuff like “there is a thread of energy connecting me to [thing]” and i repeat it and put belief behind it until it feels like it’s firmly in place/i genuinely believe that it’s become! i find since it’s still a mental exercise (just narrative thought instead of visual thought), it gets the job done the way i need it to. it’s definitely been a process, especially since i have such bad adhd so i struggle to focus enough to meditate as is, let alone simultaneously put extra energy and attention into essentially thinking something into existence, but once i stopped getting mad or upset at myself for genuinely not being able to do things the way books/people/other resources told me i should be doing them, i was able to grow in a different, yet just as effective, way 🥰

As a pagan witch with a physical disability this can be a challenge and sometimes I need that reminder that taking care of myself is also a sacred act. I like to wear certain jewelery and stir intention into my coffee. Getting back into tarot again, learning runes, and now that I have a deity in my practice I am figuring that out too. I also am working on a BOS/Grimoire. Seems a bit chaotic and alot but I don't do it all at once. I have some many different projects because what I am capable of on any given day depends on my physical ability and headspace that day. Some days reading a book with my deity candles lit is all I can manage that day.

I have to say that with my "daily practice" I don't really have one. I do try to listen to guides as much as possible. That's a practice for me and to learn not to doubt that "gut instinct" or my guides basically telling me what to do. That's something really simple for me. I don't have a lot of time during the day. Most of the time I'm more witchy active at night. It's like when the sun goes down it goes up. I'm not as intuned with everything during the day. It's much easier at night for me to receive messages or anything. I learned that by just learning to pay more attention spiritually every day. Because you will notice when your spirit is more open if you pay attention to your inner self all the time. Notice when you're able to hear your guidance easier.

YES to this! 💚 I don't really do spells anymore, but when I was more into that kind of witchcraft, my *favourite* thing was to put instant espresso and honey in a mug, pour hot water over it, and stir it clockwise while internally chanting "energy, energy, energy". I'm a spoonie and I'm exhausted A LOT; I swear this little spell worked wonders when deadlines loomed over me and I needed it the most.
These days I'm more focused on energy and spirit work. I don't do visualisation meditations like ever, because I struggle with visualisation (my autistic brain's like NOPE lol), so I love the basic meditation courses on Headspace because they focus more on awareness and being in the present moment, connecting with the body, great things for over-thinkers like myself! I've also started to like... whenever I take my dog out to go potty, I'll squat down on the ground next to a random flower in the garden, and try to "listen in" on it, to see if I can pick up any energies or messages from it. So far, the flowers are whispering very quietly, but I think it's a very fun and spoonie-friendly way of tapping into spirit.
I *love* that you mentioned veiling 😭 It's quickly becoming part of my daily practice, too, kind of by accident, and it makes me feel a lot less weird when I see other people doing it as well. I got a scalp rash a couple of months back and started wrapping an ugly bandana around my head to keep myself from picking at it and making it worse. I accidentally veiled every day for a month. Now I feel naked without it, and am waiting for more aesthetically pleasing veils to arrive in the mail.

This was really comforting to me as a baby witch who really struggles with motivation and executive function because of autism, thank you!

For me Personally i suffer a lot with chronic fatigue and my "daily" practice, is kind of exactly that, in that it changes "daily".
At the chore of that work is listening to my mind and body and tuning into my intuition, so if one day that means lots of spell work / divination / setting intention, and the next day i just need to rest and recharge, then so be it.
Resting is just as magical and important as "active" magic, its a balance, its learning to listen to your needs.

Thank you for making it so easy! I've struggled with all the things I need to do and remember and know. You explain clearly how I can take small steps and that they are alright.

I have watched this and through meditation I find it can be anything where doesn't make you think so much and just let your mind go. Like art doing blind art just get something to draw/sketch/paint on and just start going while either reflecting or trying to quiet your mind. Doing your make-up, journaling, talking to yourself, exercising, or even talking to pets or animals. For me talking out loud by myself in a tough situation or something on my mind really helps. You reflect on yourself, get through your situation/helps, and grows a relationship with yourself by trusting yourself. This also increases your intuition because you are trusting yourself. I hope this helps anyone new, rewatchers like myself, or if maybe something I suggested is wrong I would love to hear your opinion(s).
