@@jen43072 I also only really started listening to Taylor's full albums in 2019 😬 I'm 38, so I was juuuuust a bit old when she started and it took me a long time to get beyond the radio hits (some of which I loved, some not so much, I was never a hater or a Lover 😬). I made a mental note of her exes when I started listening back properly to her full earlier albums and the general way she referred to each of them lyrically just so I could work out who she was singing about 😅 Yeah... She was at her thinnest when she was dating Harris 😢 Considering her struggles with anorexia, it kind of gives you a sad idea of how insecure and unhappy she must have been during that time. I've always thought lyrically that she wrote Tolerate It about Harris and High Infidelity about Harris bridging over to Tom Hiddleston. If it's in the tabloids, I ignore it (the drama fiction regarding her love life). If it's in the lyrics, I like to be able to contextualise it to her life where it fits just to be able to appreciate that she carries themes through not only songs on albums... But through albums over a decade+ 😬
So Long London from TTPD is about Joe and the city. Taylor has lived in London quite a bit when her and Joe dated, 6 1/2 years. She loves London boys. Harry, D.J.Calvin Harris, Tom Hiddleston, Matty and Joe.
Definitely Joe. You should listen to this and follow it up with So Long, London afterwards. You’ll pick up on the connections. Example: “Like a Tennessee Stella McCartney on the Heath” in London Boy and then “I left all I knew, you left me at the house by the Heath” in So Long, London. The juxtaposition of these songs is heartbreaking.
Love your reactions! Keep the Taylor ones coming :) I recommend her live Eras performance of "How did it End." Incredibly emotional;' I've never heard the crowd so silent.

I know what you mean Jake. In reference to the sound. That reggae sound. I am born and raised here in SoCal (southern California) and grew up driving up and the down the streets and towns/cities where No Doubt and Sublime used to go around and perform and hang out at. I live down the street from Cal State Fullerton where these bands used to play. My sister works there so you bet your bottom that I HAD to check it out. I grew up listening to these bands and I wanted to be in the presence of where they used to perform. I went during lunch hour which is when live bands come out to perform on campus. Loved it! But also, I love how ska makes me feel. Just positive, fun times ahead. So yes, I know that SoCal "surfer" sound you're talking about. And it isn't just the sound but the cadenced rhyme schemes she's doing with her words that give it that feel and vibe to ska that it could also easily venture into rap. Taylor's got flow for sure. And I've been saying for some time now that Taylor should try going into ska, punk, metal, throw in some r&b in there, melodic rock, grunge etc. She could do it all. She's one of those rare artists that can perform different genres but still be her, Taylor. That would be sick. I so want that rock album from her. Top to bottom of pure rock. I want to hear some heavy basslines, solo guitar riffs, crazy drum rolls in her music. Like PLEASE Taylor. I want to blast that ish everywhere. And if you want to check out other channels who do rock covers of her music, there's Emo VeeJ, Alex Melton and Minority 905 who cover a ton of her music.
