  • The Mazda 3 is a loved car by many. It features a rigid sporty frame all while busting out some great gas mileage. There are mainly two notable issues with the Mazda 3, but they really aren't that bad and in most cases due to user error.
The Mazda 3 from 2010-2013 is an awesome car and this BL series can come in either a sedan or hatchback.

Have had great luck with my 2013 skyactiv with 6 speed manual. No issues since I’ve owned it, put close to 90k miles on it (bought used with 40k miles) and haven’t had to do anything more than replacing basic wear & tear parts like brakes, tires, wipers, and filters. Still running strong with no check lights on my dash. Easily the most reliable car I’ve ever owned and plan on driving it another 90k or more!

I've been wanting a Mazda 3 with Skyactiv engine for the gas mileage since my stupid employer moved their office 30 miles from it's previous location. Before, I was driving 4.5 miles to get to work and didn't have to get on the crowded freeways. Now I'm driving 26 miles on the crowded freeway and the gas mileage along with the price per gallon really sucks.. I've also racked up more miles on my Jeep than I anticipated. Is the gas mileage of the Skyactiv Mazda 3 really what they claim? What's your average mpg?

@@jeepinintexas6215All I know is the 2.5L has horrible gas mileage for a 4 cylinder hatchback and all the online reviews of the Skyactive returns good MPG.

I've owned my 2010 for 4 years now. It's a great car. I live in Canada and have driven this thing across the country twice. Two of those journeys we experienced intense prairie blizzards. It took all of it, with a smile lol.
Its at 220,000 kms currently and have put 100,000kms on it so far.
My biggest gripes with this car are the seats. I find the lower back support kind of digs into your back. It's not horribly uncomfortable, I got used to it pretty fast.
These cars are extremely low to the ground. If you're not careful you'll scrape off of everything.
I have the sedan, but if I were to purchase again I'd opt for the hatchback instead. The hole between where the rear seats fold down and the trunk is only about 20 inches tall so you can't really carry large objects in the sedan. I don't usually move furniture so it's not a massive thing for me, it might be for you though.
The clip in the centre console is brittle. When I bought mine the clip was already broken, so I replaced it. A week after replacing it (with an oem part) it snapped. I didn't replace it again. Not worth it.
The cubby door in the centre console is also fragile. Mine broke
But those are nit picks. These cars are insanely good and mine has impressed me immensely. It has never left me stranded on the road. The fuel economy is great. Get one that has the factory option Bluetooth.

Hello I live in Ontario. I’m in the market to buy a second gen Mazda3 with either the 2 L or 2.5 L mzr/Duratec engine. If it’s still a good idea to buy these cars in 2024? A part of me feels that the non-skyactiv engines are not gonna be reliable.

@@torontoguy8043i live in southern Ontario and have a 2010 Mazda 3 hatch and it's been amazing. She's taken me anywhere and everywhere I've needed to go. Only issue I've had was an exhaust leak. Engine runs beautifully. It's all stock. Only thing is I had to replace my belt. My girlfriend has a 2017 Mazda3 with the skyactiv and I still prefer to drive mine. Obviously it's just opinion and me getting lucky with this car. I've seen some complaints but I'd say about 75% of reviews praise this car like it's a god lol. I definitely do too. It's extremely fun to drive. If you can find a good condition reasonable price I'd say you won't be disappointed.

just letting everyone know now that the 2.5 liter in the base cars are stronger and more reliable than the mazda speed 2.3 liter people have started to do hybrid motors of the two or just took the 2.5 block and everything else 2.3l it’s a huge bang for you’re buck since getting the speed motor itself is very expensive why not build a better version for a fraction of the price also some have been just turn ping these 2.5s and making close to 250whp on stock internals don’t get a speed get a base three and transfer over parts from the speed to ur base much cheaper than buying a speed i’m soon to take on the project of putting a 2.5l mzr motor in a mazda mx6 my favorite vehicle ever it’s looks are awesome it’s just down on power i got all my ducks inline and i’m going to be making videos of the whole swap on my channel stay tuned bois

I had a lot of faults with the Mazda 3 I bought, at 175000ks the vehicle had problems with low oil pressure, manifold chatter, and it seemed to go through almost a litre of oil a month. I thought the vehicle had blow, considering the plugs aways fouled. A lot of parts showed signs of corrosion which made vehicle inspection day a nightmare.

m from germany, driving a Mazda 3 BL 2010 with an Natural aspirated 1.6 L engine with 105 HP.
This car has 207000 km right now, and all i had to change are brakes, oil and drivetrain stop buffers, because of my eibach 30mm springs. And i did a valve adjustment at 150000 km, which normally is recommended every 100000-150000 km. This car moves and moves and moves. Can recommend, if you need a car , that just drives and doesnt need that much attention except of oil change and brakes. If you keep this car Stock, it will work forever.

@@uschizymekHi! I'm actually going to import 2011 Mazda 3 1.6 Sedan from Leipzig next week. It's totally stock from one owner and has 68.000km on it. What do you mean by drivetrain buffers? What shocks do you have with the Eibachs? Do you like the ride, is it stiff? I'm also thinking about the Eibachs either with Bilstein B4 or Sachs... Thanks!

    • @uschizymek
      @uschizymek 8 месяцев назад

@@joelmakela2964 above the drivetrain springs, there are Stop Buffers, which dampen your Hits on your Drive train while driving on non-flat streets/surfaces.
Just eibach springs ist basically enough to Drive this Car little Bit more sporty. IT lowers your Car, gives you a better Feeling while driving at Corners and feels a little Bit more stiff.

…have purchased my 2010 Mazda 3 S Sport Hatchback from my next door neighbor in Atherton CA in 2011. It has been my go to drive around the Bay Area and racked some 60K miles on it. She has been very reliable and affordable. Aside from basic oil change and maintenance the most done was the rear shocks. I continue to enjoy driving her around, that’s without any mods.
