*meanwhile I'm a preteen in the USA being taught our nation's dance (square dance) in gym class* ...I know n understand the roots of square dance n all the cultures it comes from but i wish I came from a more ancient country, one with a dance n culture entirely of its own...wtf, this was a treat to watch, absolutely beautiful
There is NO national dance in United States just regional cultural dance you can go out and learn anything you want from Irish dance, to folcklorico, and any dance through the 20s, 30s, 50s, 60s. You're in a nation with thousands of historically rich cultures just because your school offers one doesn't mean there isn't more in America. My school didn't offer any type of dance my folkclorico dance lessons were private paid.

Square dance is NOT the dance of this nation, I suggest looking at traditional native American dance, from literally any tribe, that's far more American than square dancing
