I just finished this book, and I was not prepared for how much I would adore it. Edwin Courcey has my heart. I felt his character so deeply. And I completely agree with how you feel about high fantasy. It’s far too complicated to keep my interest. I love a “low” fantasy, like this. I put in my pre-order for the sequel as soon as I finished it!
I apologize if you’ve answered this already! But how explicit do the romance scenes get? I got this is a subscription box and it sounds interesting but I’m not a huge fan of spice! So would it be easy to skip over? Or it there a lot of it? And is there any explicit violence? Thanks so much!
There's not a huge amount of violence and it's not particularly graphic, most of the fights are with magic. As to the romance scenes... they are quite lengthy and in detail! There are two, you can skip the first one, the second one does have a little bit of plot impact but all you need to know is that it involves a spell that changes someone's heartbeat. Apart from that they should be fairly skippable - I hope that helps!

Pretty sure Freya Marske invented the mortifying ordeal of being known.

Haha thank you! :D
I'm planning on reading this for pride month 🏳️🌈

Absolutely! Edwin and Robin’s relationship from start to finish was just *chef’s kiss*
