For the record, it is totally unfair that the judge didnt order the bailiffs to give him a pacifier to help him through this tough court process.

It's the opposite. The state wanted secrecy; Brooks wanted publicity. The judge apparently wanted publicity - to prevent an issue for appeal - so she decided to "side with" Brooks, because his inarticulate position agreed with what she had in mind in the first place.

At first I understood why the judge was giving him leniency, allowing him to be disrespectful. She didn't want to give him any reason to be able to call a mistrial. Dorow was thorough with his mental health assessments in the sentencing. She gave a lot of diligence to make sure the trial was completed with every opportunity for fairness.

I have see 4 year olds not get that theatrical when told no. Plus the fact that she basically told him then that his delay tactics were never going to be allowed in her court was a sweet moment also. Agree - she's fantastic! Allowing him just enough latitude to paint himself into a corner from which he cannot escape while also ensuring the proceedings are not stalled any more than absolutely necessary, and giving him very little room for appeal later on, if any at all.

In his own words, this is a public trial. His face should be shown as well as the victims who will be testifying. His mask should be removed. If he has "covid" let him be in a seperate room until he tests negative.

Funny how he could hear her the entire time she was saying her determination is he would not need medical attention. But then when she asked him about his legal objection he all of a sudden couldn't hear her.

@@kclayA111 and she’s doing it quite well. At a time when many public servants don’t. It is refreshing to see a judge and prosecution team handle a very delicate and potential volatile legal situation at trial professionally , appropriately and with grace.
The job that includes a responsibility to the community and victims as well. Many victims. Victims that have as many rights as this defendant.
A very injured community. So many times people rush to complain when a public servant is out of place. But rarely speak up when they are handling a difficult situation with such professionalism .
Especially with a defendant like this one. Whose behavior, btw, stands out like no other seen in this nation. At least not that I have seen. Behavior with potential to cause an expensive mistrial if not handled carefully and mindfully based on precedence, established state laws.
Collectively speaking, I must concur with the original comment. Must respect to this judge for her patience and oversight in this most difficult situation.

@@CarlosLopez-iy6jr oh he can appeal her decisions , if he can get just one overturned he can get a mistrial and a new trial . which would be why she is being so careful to make sure she makes a record of every decision and her reasoning behind it. very little chance he will succeed when and if he tries, he will likely need several things overturned as the appeals court could find a decision wrong but also say that it would not have affected the outcome of this trial. but more than one could do the trick for him. as careful as she is being i dont see it happening though.

As we continued to watch the court proceedings we will see just how much he truly recognizes the judges rulings. It's crazy to come back to watch the beginning of the trial after seeing the rest of the trial and the way he unjustifiedly questioned her at every turn
His closing statement was laughable
He said he couldn’t hear her and tried to act like it, but as soon as she said (at the same voice level) that he was being muted again, he started reacting, showing he could hear the entire time. He also threw another tantrum when she said there was no blood on his finger, also at the same voice level, so I’d imagine that can be used as proof for any appeal attempts.
I can't believe how professional and patient this judge is.

For most people in today's world this would be one of the most horrific things they've ever witnessed especially when it was not an accident. Yet he has to look at Brooks in the eye and be grilled by him. It is no doubt disgusting but it's a formality that is unavoidable. If brooks had intelligence he would use a real attorney. If he had compassion he wouldn't put the victims through this, but then he wouldn't have drove his SUZ into the crowd in the first place.

It’s a very interesting trial to watch as he truly is a very intelligent psychopath who has relied his whole life on manipulation and street smarts. He is so calculated and smart but also emotionally volatile and immature. Terrifying but fascinating.

@@areality40 I noticed that, too, sometimes in the same sentence. He was continuously saying "I don't understand", and then saying "You don't have to explain anything to me". He truly was like a 3 or 4 year old mentally at times, and then very clever in his manipulation. The worst for me was during the initial interrogation with the detectives, when they told him that some people were badly hurt, and he said "Like my arm", and then laughed and said "Oh, I was just making a joke". There was something very evil in that laugh.

It’s interesting that in this video he understands that all of these proceedings are public yet when the Reddit post was brought up he was convinced that it had to be credible because there was no other way for someone to know the details in the post unless they were physically in court.

If he’s a sovereign, he believes no law has control over him. I find it curious that he always talks about his constitutional rights. The constitution has no power over him. No laws have any power over him. So how does he think he has any constitutional rights?

It goes right over Darrell's head that when judge Darrow remarks on his "good points" she's not flattering him, her intention is to underscore his competence.
One of the things I appreciate going back and watching these early videos is that all of his lies and nonsense and attempted obstruction failed. The jury did the right thing and he was held accountable.

I feel sorry for the deputies who have to listen to him in the other courtroom. They don’t have a way to mute him without physical violence.
This man is completely sane. He is just evil and a monster in every sense of the word. He can act emotional in front of the jury. He can pretend he isn’t the accused as he wants to represent “himself”. He has proven he is sane just by the very questions he has asked during the trial. Maybe we should all thank him for asking such good questions to the witnesses.

This man walked into court on a daily basis and he would dig his hole a little deeper with every question he would ask the victims. I think he’s a great lawyer. He’s also a very good witness. Best witness for a prosecution team that I’ve ever seen 😂

It's despicable and demonic this not a normal thinking human being. I'm getting upset concerning the Families of the victims they are in so much pain mentally and physically this could have been any of our Family member's. My Prayers continue to go out to the family and victims.

Judge Dorow did an amazing job dealing with this person and his unbelievable rudeness the way he continued intrupting Judge Dorow and not obeying the laws in the court room. Judge Dorow went above and beyond during this trial🙌
