What a great follow-up interview with Mick! During a period when the trend was for guitarists to play as fast as possible, sweep arpeggios, tap, and dive-bomb, Mick was carving out his identity as a guitarist with great tone, great riffs, and memorable solos that had balls and great feel! Mick seems like a well-grounded, cool guy. Thanks for the great interview Jason and Mick.

He talked to Marq the morning of the Whiskey concert and said Marq "suggested I go with him". So, Marq wanted to play the concert, but it was "monetary influenced, 99%" (It wasn't because Marq lives and breathes music and wanted to fulfill their obligation to the fans even though Lonnie flaked out?)
Sorry guys, Marq ain't perfect but he's busted his ass for years to keep the band alive. None of the others have.

There's 3 here in Houston that are pretty good & that I 'am not affiliated w/in any way except for being a fan. A new band here to listen to is called Night Cobra, a very good Heavy band, another is The Killer Hearts, a Hard Rock/Glam band & The Guillotines, old school punk rock all 3 members coming from other bands like: The Pagans, Grave 45 & Ritchie Ramone. Give them all a listen. You might dig them all. Keep the Rock Roll 'in.

So amazing to finally have been on Sunset Strip and super glad the experience was not tainted by the acoustic/nonsense pivot. BTW - if you ever find yourself on the strip, an absolute must is the Rainbow. I am 15 years old and love 80s rock and been at many of these shows like you mentioned towards the end of the interview! I am very influenced by it in my own music. I am a little disappointed in this interview because I feel Marq was thrown under a bus. There were definitely somethings left out which would have had people being more understanding. Marq is an amazing musician and cares about his fans. He did not want to sabotage this, and I think it is so wrong to give that impression. I was lucky to learn from Marq who taught me so much. I was shocked on the history Marq had in music and all the knowledge he passed on. He has been so good to me! Some things just didn't seem to add up in this interview. Marq talked to me about his bandmates like they were his brothers. I am very hurt to see how things ended here. :(

    Checking in from Detroit
I am so disappointed to hear this horrible news
I would like to know, what would cause Jimmy to want to quit
And what caused management to quit?
    Things aren't adding up here

Bro, I was a kid when Bullet boys came out on MTV. I think they kind of Rock and they are kind of funny, I was happy to see them back but sad to see them break up

I saw the Bullet Boys early 2004 ?? in Santa Fe, NM at the Paramount. Last minute show.
Really bad. I think there were 5 or so people there. I left after 4 songs. That’s $5 bucks a song…………. They had to start - ‘Smooth Up’ over…………. Hahahaha.

I always liked Mick’s playing. Very bluesy, but also edgy.

Deeply disappointed. Big big Bulletboys fan, them getting back together felt like 1988 again. Ah well, you can't always get what you want.

They were decent back in the day, but I think they believe they were a lot bigger than they actually were.

I guess im a bit slow so help me out here, they broke up again because lonnie couldnt make the gig and the other guys are upset because marq played it anyway?

I remember back then how I thought there was some nice melodic guitar work from this band. Then, when they opened for Cinderella and Winger, I was so bummed that the first thing Marq Torien did when they came out was to flip off the crowd. It was kind of pointless.

Bulletboys...I love you guys man. Not to sound cocky, but I know your entire catalog front to back. I may not be 10 ft tall with long blonde hair...but I would slay it jammin with the great Mick🤘🤘. I wouldn't be M.I.A. either. I know Lonnie's bass lines and his tone like the back of my hand.

I don't get it.. I understand there is a bad history with Marq but he wanted to go on with the show. That is professionalism. Lonnie missed the gig and the band should have played the show. I don't see why Lonnie isn't the one to be blamed on that show situation.

I'm late to the party, but it sounds like when 2 of 3 said 'no' to the acoustic gig, Marq pulled rank and words were exchanged harsh enough to rip open old wounds. Realizing this wasn't going to be a democracy, and with one unreliable member to contend with, it seems like the reunion got kneecapped. Once management came to the conclusion that this whole venture was too risky to invest in, maybe Jimmy and Mick decided that they didn't want this to be their life for the next year. Just my $.02.
      Cheers!

I totally agree with Mick on this....that was a mistake to "save the show". People understand missed flights, life, etc. The whole thing is disappointing. I saw every 80's band you can imagine, but I had never seen Bulletboys and even was considering a flight to PA for the March 2022. Obviously won't now.

I like Mick and I have no doubt that Marq is problematic, but it seems like drama exists wherever he tries to get something rockin'. The first Hot Summers run imploded. The Lies, Deceit & Treachery band (which seemed to have promise) imploded shortly after the band went on to FULFILL a gig that their singer (Current Hot Summers singer) was unable to attend. Now it's back to Hot Summers. Is Mick difficult to work with? I mean, when is the last time he released a record, since that children's lullaby CD he did 15 years ago? And why did BulletBoys management quit before the Whisky gig? No hate intended. I am also the father to a child on the Spectrum and admire his intent to raise awareness on the disability.

Mick has the bad luck to be in bands with unreliable people, which happens all the time in the music business.

I have nothing nice to say about Marq. In fact, I’ve never heard a good word said about the guy’s personality or mindset/logic.
