Some smaller businesses also don't have an IT person on staff, relying on either a managed IT service (a good option) or a computer-literate employee from another depatment (not really the best option usually, but that's one way to get into IT).
At my company, it’s just my manager and i…lol And it was my manager alone since last july…pretty crazy We pretty much have to keep track of 5 locations. Obviously my location onsite is more important than the others, but i still have to help out at the others if needed
@@EastCharmer how many users? Hmmm Well we have a warehouse here, but those people use their computers less frequently, but inside the offices there’s about 25 people Not sure on the other locations
@@EastCharmerIt's a lot of work and lonely sometimes being solo IT, but depending on the company you can make CTO-like decisions as a relatively low level tech. Of course you really have to know what you're doing and learn quickly to make sure they're the right decisions, and how to fix it when you screw something up!
Same here, the company I work for is much bigger and famous, We have 3 branches in North America. about 400 employees including remote employees. It is just my insecure manager and I. I am burnout, tired, underpaid, and under-appreciated. The job market is tough too, I have a newborn baby, and I have to tolerate it for some time.
@@AGHAFR Oof, IT work with a newborn baby is no picnic for sure. My daughter is over a year now and I'm still trying to find time for everything (or some days, anything). I keep thinking of the sign in Homer Simpson's office, "do it for her."
