I've mentioned these commands many times, but wanted to make a very quick reference video for them. sfc /scannow DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth
Thank you Joe! I ran both of these processes, and it seems they have cleared the "dead bird icon" problem I've been having with the Vivaldi browser. Much appreciated!
Actually it fixed a lot of problems I've been having with my computer. The worst one was my Casio Disc Title Printer quit working and I had disconnected it and was about to throw it away. I gave it another chance after running these processes, and it's working like new! I'm very happy about that. However the dead bird icons are back on Vivaldi. I loved that browser, but have had to shut it down.
Restore health is the 3rd of 3 dism commands you want to run 1st is scan health, looks for issues 2nd is check health, show you the summary of the scan 3rd is restore health
THANK YOU for this I used both and found my pc needed repairs on BOTH commands i think it works best with older pcs since they’ve gone through more windows updates n such great vid and thanks again! :)
Randomly scrolling at 3am got me to do this on my pc it said I had some corrupt files and it was able fix them , then I ran the scan command again and said everything was fine ! Thanks :)
Those are for indian tech support. It's when you don't know what you are doing. You might as well advice to "update to lasted version" or "re-image your drive". Dism is an amazing cmd. It can mount .wim file, export all drivers of a system in a folder and execute many powershell cmd. It can also save your butt with a non-bootable system (although nothing close to linux's chroot). Sfc I haven't found much yet but that might just be me. Imo the most useful are 'cd' and maybe 'del' / 'rd' tied with copy / xcopy.
I'm an Systems Engineer and I haven't needed to use these commands in years except recently recommending sfc /scannow for a Head of IT due to BSODs. I use "defrag /x" a lot more nowadays on SSDs and NVMe drives as this is important.
Both commands failed, Sfc said found severe corruption but unable to repair, Dian froze at 67.2 percent every time I tried and then said error no source files found
But, dont do it like this, like you said, the files may often be corrupted, so its better to clean up the image first, and then, running the check on to fix anything corrupted in your system files. This way you dont corrupt your system further, and then try with a more corrupted system to fix it. You don’t want to corrupt more files then already were.
Dammit Joe, you should do more of this.(Oh no! I'm one of those now :-{ ) I miss your April Fool's stuff but for everything there is a season yadda yadda. Between your RUclips APP for spanking spammers and tips like this I'd say the Patron Saint of RUclips is ThioJoe. There, I said it: St. ThioJoe.
It's wild how windows users now paying money to change that shitty start menu. Also I have ads in start menu, what should I do? Real ads, official fresh image, 0 installed software

This works great but I wouldn't recommend using it on old build of windows 10 (assuming you're still using old build) or laptop that has modification done by OEM partner. (out of box)

SFC & DISM are great when the system is bootable. When it's not working _sometimes_ they can fix stuff but it's very difficult.
You should always run the DISM command first. Just to prevent the repair failure from the get go. Microsoft suggests running them in this order.
So do the 2nd command first then the first one?
@@CantTreadOnMe right. DISM first, then SFC

Joe who?
Joe mama
You want to run DISM first, then you know SFC is using a valid WIM image.
I usually do the SFC command before any big windows build updates
If your harddisk is corrupted, you can use /chkdsk C: /f (takes only 1-4 minutes
or /r (can take upto 23 hours for 1 TB HDD)
The wide world of Linux is waiting for you bro.
Where the idea of a corrupt file is completely unknown.
