I am starting 2nd grade this year, and I have a CRAZY slant, so I am so excited to find these standards-rich content-free activities. I love that you can use them with whatever. Awesome!
Thank you for sharing your strategies and wisdom gleaned from your years of teaching. I have loved early education for the last 12 years and have recently finished a Bachelor's and credentialing for elementary so I am excited to learn from so many amazing elementary teachers. I love your strategy of using the foam dice. I covered a small box in light colored paper and then packaging tape so I could write new sight words on the sides each week with a sharpie (comes off with a magic eraser). I also recently learned about whisper phones and made a bunch for the preschool rooms I support with PVC pipes from Home Depot. The preschoolers have not been as excited as I was about them, I wonder if older kids would be more into them. Thank you again. Have a beautiful day!
I've been looking at your videos for about a year or so and I must admit they're so interesting. Thank you for sharing your wealth of knowledge on Guided Reading. I'm learning so much!
HI! Thank you so much for sharing all your knowledge!!!!! I am moving from K to 2nd grade and your videos have been so helpful. I want to purchase your guided reading units but I was wondering if you had them in lower guided reading levels? I will be at a school with a lot of low students and coming off the at home learning I am thinking I may need to start around level D or E ?? Thank you thank you! Jana

Thank you for sharing your knowledge. :)
Hey there.. thank you so much.... I am sooo happy to hear that you are enjoying my videos : ) Right now the only place to pick up my Reading is Thinking bulletin board is in my GRTW course, you can find out all about that here: www.guidedreadingthatworks.com Hope this helps!
Great video! I always love your activities... second grade is so fun...I'm teaching first grade, and so it's a bit more on a slower pace... barely writing and reading....so my questions are: how much time do you give them to finish each tab or activity strategy? How many times do you meet with them a week...?? And also, what stories do you use? Is it the level reading books? Thank you so much!! Bless! 🙏💕
Hey there, thank you so much for your message... I totally understand... for my early readers, if they don't finish the entire activity... it can be morning work the next day and they can finish it when they go to work on writing as well... I meet with ALL of my groups every single day, usually about 15-20 min each group... yes, I used my stories (the leveled books I have) for my small groups, sometimes chapter books for my fluent readers... hope this helps a bit... : )
Question: How do you decide which of the folders to use? Is "reading detective" whole group? and the flip flap small group? or do you switch it up based on the story?
Hey there Jessica, it really depends on what we are reading and what the focus is for that particular book... then I will pick what works best for that book and group : )
Anna, do you mark these? How do you assess how well the children have learned and are able to use these skills independently? I'm thinking ahead to report cards.
Hey there Erin... thank you so much for your comment, in my classroom I would assess 3 times per year for everything...fluency, comprehension, decoding.... but I also did a weekly benchmark test every friday that aligns with our reading series... hope that helps a bit...
Do you have any products for Social Studies my district just adopted myWorld Interactive. I teach 2nd grade. I am looking for focus wall stuff, and can't seem to find much. Your ideas and products seem like a great idea. Thank you!
