I was an Xbox 360 owner throughout last generation and loved it, had no regrets. Then I bought a ps3 and played through the whole uncharted franchise and was blown away, but I honestly didn't think it was possible to top that, especially because the "the last of us" was looking to be a survival horror game trying to capitalize on the zombie craze (in my head, based on previews.) Long story short I don't think there is a single game ever, that gets a 10/10 from me in virtually every category (graphics, sound, voice acting, story, gameplay, pacing etc.) I don't say this lightly. The Last of Us is the closest game to perfection, and I can't possibly imagine saying that about any other game.. Past, present or foreseeable future. Thank you Naughty Dog, you guys are a huge reason I won't ever STOP playing video games. I will already always support any project you guys take on

As for stealth, I hate stealth in games, oddly enough I felt it was simple, straight forward and rewarding. The game isn't a brawler, so I don't necessarily feel it needs some deep counter-dodge mechanics. Everything you say is true from a certain perspective. But if you look at it for what it was, not for what it's not.. You might appreciate it a bit more. But if you feel it's completely overrated, I respect that. Metal Gear and Zelda are examples of games I just can't get into. I understand the whole world disagrees.. But to each their own
+Steven Dalouche fun fact for TLoU, they had a counter-dodge mechanic for about majority of the project. Then about 4 months before release they scrapped it because it just didnt feel right for the game. Imagine how much easier the infected would be if you could dodge or block when they lunge at you. Also Ellie being invisible to enemy NPCs during stealth sections was intentional mainly just because it just made the game stressful rather than intense if that makes any sense to you. GDC '14
Tedulous that's interesting.. I know they struggled with alot of decisions that sound simple like.. Should getting into to cover be a natural system or a button command like gears.. It's really easy to see what's v the v game is not.. But what it is, is a very solid well thought out game graphics, sounds, control etc.
I love Naughty Dog. I feel like we would have a lot more exceptional games if more studios could adopt ND's work ethics and structure, especially their willingness to listen all their employees' opinions when it comes to creative and technical decisions. The part of The Last of Us where you kill the doctor and pick up Ellie was originally just a cutscene until one employee suggested that playing through it would make the experience stronger.
I totally agree with what Wil says at the end. When I realized I was close to finishing Uncharted 3, I took a weeklong break before going back to it because I was dreading it so much. When I was Ellie after escaping the hospital, I set the controller down for a half hour and made food cause I knew it had to be the end and I needed time to absorb what had just happened. These guys are absolutely brilliant.

One of the coolest things ever about naughty dog is that if you buy a PS4 you can play Crash, Crash 2, Crash 3, Jak and Daxter, Jak II, Jak III, Jak X: Combat Racing, Uncharted, Uncharted 2, Uncharted 3, Uncharted 4, the Last of Us, and the upcoming Uncharted the Lost Legacy and the Last of Us II. (to be fair the crash trilogy is remade by vicarious visions and activision but the level design is still all the same)

He is asking questions just fine, a few hiccups doesn't make anyone awful at what they do. The one thing he really messed up on is where he referred to the fungus from The Last of Us as a virus.

Just opened up this video and the Bungie video at the same time, and noticed that there are a lot more dislikes on the Bungie video than the Naughty Dog one. Also that comments are disabled for the Bungie video. I couldn't help but laugh. Clearly public opinion of Bungie isn't too high these days (and yes, I'm fully aware of why).
I genuinely felt sorry for the devs when they said they don't get to experience the game we do. They put so much work and effort into the process but yet don't get to enjoy it the way we do. Having said that, they are very rich so I don't feel that bad for them lol #lastofus2

The last of us takes place after uncharted 3 and in the same universe. But, does that mean Nathan Drake is dead? I don't remember they said something about it
honestly , I do not see much problem of unstable fps ( 40 ~ 55 ) , many game consoles that say 60 fps are actually variable. GOW 3 (PS3), COD (PS3) BF4(PS4) some racers etc 30 locked with motion blur, low input lag (like U2 and not like U1 and U3) is good too, sub 30 is unacceptable. I wish a option from ND.
TAE4892 It's Naughty Dog bro. They will optimize their games like their own kids. There is no way it will be sub 30fps. Plus, the Multiplayer mode is 60fps.

They are definitely right about the emotional connection of the characters. There is only one other game that made me feel so emotionally exhausted by the end: Final Fantasy X.

Can't wait for their new game.Not talking here about Uncharted 4 (which i too cannot wait for) or TLoU, but something new.With TLoU these guys showed us amazing potential that can bring many new titles to us - hopefully they are not going to be doing sequels too long and do something fresh again.

honestly , I do not see much problem of unstable fps ( 40 ~ 55 ) , many game consoles that say 60 fps are actually variable. GOW 3 (PS3), COD (PS3) BF4(PS4) some racers etc
30 locked with motion blur, low input lag (like U2 and not like U1 and U3) is good too, sub 30 is unacceptable. I wish a option from ND.
TAE4892 It's Naughty Dog bro. They will optimize their games like their own kids. There is no way it will be sub 30fps. Plus, the Multiplayer mode is 60fps.
