Hope you counted the skeletons and you are not lying to us.
I kept count. It was 10million. Very exaggerated number smh
I’m judging you for saying that
Grubby would never.
@@RethaxianGrubby Would & Could never
A billion is an impossibly large number. Grubby was using an hyperbole here.
That was one of the coolest WC3 games I've watched in a long time. Gotta love those skeleton hordes.
pure defense of Hyjaal looking game
My god. That guy put up such an amazing fight. What a fun game to watch. Maybe one of my favorites. I also love how Grubby had to explain the viability of chims at the start of the game, when they ended up being the nail in the coffin for his opponent.
He could have targeted the archer stack more aggressively. DH is hard to kill, and the NSW was more vulnerable to attacks. With the Spirit Touch nerf, he should have been aggressively seeking to get his necs killed (to get more mana via new necs) in order to generate corpses and get replacements with partial mana to spam the skeletons out.
Judging the situation, when he had two bases, a standing necrowagon army + infrastructure to replace the necrowagon army, he could very well have finished off a normal NE with pressure, but hey, he was facing Grubby. Possibly lost his nerve there.
@@Instr Grubby was extremely good at microing his archers out of hero range when they had mana, and shoving his DH and Naga in their face when they didn't. UD had to play a fine line of keeping his heros alive because Naga Sea witch could slow them at any moment and put them in fear of death. Lets not forget he only had level 1 Coil and Frost Nova for most of the game as well, not enough to one shot archers. They both played extremely well but Grubbys micro was on a world class level here. Very difficult game for the UD to have a chance here against such a strong opponent
I remember having a 2v2 once where our opponent massed Necros and I got PotM to level 6. When we went at it in a final battle type of scenario, he had the meatwagons and necros unleashing a crazy amount of skelies. At that same time I triggered Starfall. It was the craziest light show I'd seen and my frames dropped to like 5fps when it happened, lol. Mind you this was back in like 2003 and I had an AMD Athlon 800mhz cpu with an unknown graphics card built onto the motherboard, lol. Thankfully, we won that match and it was a very fun replay to watch once I upgraded my PC.
You still have the replay?
@@leleiiiiii Man, I wish. I've lost all things Warcraft 3 related over the years. I had officially uninstalled it in like 2010 as it was my go to game every day since it came out. Once I uninstalled and went through numerous PC builds, I lost a lot of stuff I never backed up (such as my replays).
I once watched match I think WtiiWarcraft, a WC3 youtuber, it was FFA or 4v4 and someone activated starfall at level 6 in massive battle. I think POTM gained 2 or 3 levels in couple of seconds. It was crazy
lol I’ve always been a noob at war3 but I used to always play night elf and I loved PotM because no matter how many units would inevitably show up at my base, I had a ton of upgraded moon-wells on auto-heal, massive amount of tier 3 archers, and lovely lovely star fall /trueshot aura combo 😂
Sometimes I’d even win because it would be such a compete rout that I could counterattack immediately before their hero was even revived & they were defenseless 😅
This particular game made me connect with a childhood friend with who we used to play WC3 24/7 back in 2003-2011. Thanks for the collateral good you do to our small community.
Obligatory: Thanks grubby for this series. Always a fun watch. Felt like I've learnt so much about WC3 without even playing it :D
why right obligatory? it's not obligatory, it's a choice!
This is like a fucking campaign mission. Grubby when you get to playing undead I hope you can pull off this strat a few times.
I can't imagine the fun warden would've had here
Lvl 3 Knives deleting Skellies 😂
Mana burn and wisp mana drain were critical though, letting coils and novas onto archers was certain defeat
What a game. Endless waves. Patience rewarded with victory. Diggin the night elf game play
I like how Grubby rooted ancient of war during the rush!
Not wasting another wisp while simultaneously preventing new ziggurats and buffs by taking space
Wow, what an amazing game. It's very interesting to see both players adapting to use the situation with the resources they have. And of course always cool to see not standard builds, especially when both get to the most expensive units 😄😄
love the switch army from both side.
The undead rushes Grubby
Grubby: So I started defendin my self in the enemy base :DDD
No Glaive Throwers for the push? Seems that a couple of these would have helped deal with Undead towers.
Man, I wish we had some kind of heavy anti-ground air unit for Night Elves. OH WAIT
I've always wondered why Dreadlord + necros wasn't a thing against night elf. Dreadlord would instantly clear wisps with swarm, so NE would have to rely on dryads for dispel, and they'd run out of mana very quickly. Although, now that immolation is good, seems like the opportunity has been lost.
@SomeRandomWordsHere_MrMr
Counter with mana potions and so on.
UD player would have been well-served by frenzied ghouls to eat through the NE's archers, and those were in fact the weak link.
crazy game, great micro, worthy opponent
gg!
This is the first time I saw an unholy aura rush, first time I saw a melee game where one side remakes most of their base at an expo (as opposed to just giving up), and first time I saw a serious attempt at necro wagon followed by wyrms! Dude here was both a dedicated and creative fighter! The only thing that could make it better would be if the final clash led to all heroes getting ults!
Lore accurate undead plague
What a cool game! Great response by the UD when was losing main base and then brought a mass army of skeles, necros and wagons. Really enjoyed watching!
Campaign mission vibes
I remember NecroWagon being the bane of my existance when playing WC3 back in the day.
Grubbys insane micro abusing Moonwells and slowly growing hero XP advantage off killing skelies was a sight to behold
I was thinking immolation would've been like a hot knife through skeleton butter but that mana burn really helped keep the coil + nova nuke at bay. Shame we didn't get to see the metamorphosis in full action
That first attack with the ancient of war was insane. Must be so frustrating to deal with.
And the counter attack with the skellies, really cool.
can someone tell me where the billions of skeletons were? or at least a lot of them? timestamp?
UPDATE: for anyone wonderinf, roughly 30:15 has a bunch of skeletons. at least thats something
SKELETONS!? That has to be something out of Jayborino's nightmares.
Illidan and Naga archer. lore accurate match
They couldnt handle the whisps kamikaze atacks
Hey Grubby, just wanted to point out an error. It says this is Warcraft III: Reforged but I'm pretty sure I just watched They Are Billions gameplay
i'm glad i forgot title while watching....was happily surprised at the first appearance of skele army
Good pressure by grubby however the undead should've used disease cloud earlier it'd have been more useful i think..
Also strategic use of Cripple would have really put a crimp in Night Elf heroes and Chimaeras.
fun to look at just how much value he got from those squishy archers, especially at the first half of the game. Supported by heroes ofc
Wow, this game was amazing!
swarm host flashbacks
exp makes it a much more balanced and interesting exchange and is ultimately what allowed grubby to win. Swarm host units are truly free, whereas skeletons still forfeit xp which adds up over time
You know Grubby is having a good match when he must focus and can't talk
the only thing im preaching for over 20 years with 17000 necro games and near zero losses against ne; necro > ne. the only thing i know wayyyyy better then grubby. also: ud did not ex it perfect. lich is key. but he was pretty good. funfact. u dont need statues that much.
so basicly. if u are not top50 progamer u cant win against my necro. and im a 60% player. i made many belivers who would bevile it. also chims is the best counter... fd dont work. u can outplay them 90% of the time.
@@nahirigathering1392
Yeah, you can replace the stats with suicide necs (i.e, deliberately get the necs killed to make way for more necs with greater mana pools0.
You can always counter the chims btw with cripple + gargs, but end of the day, UD T2 is a question of getting economic superiority. Necs just seal the deal.
Props to UD, played really well. Unfortunately DH 6 is gg no matter what
Not necessarily, but opponent has to have high level heroes as well to counter.
That was intense!
That was intense !! Grubby's opponent executed right idea on the right time.
Now I wonder how could he develope his strategy ??
Such a fun game to watch. Thanks, I need my daily dose of Grubby.
I was like "why won´t he build huntresses with glaive upgrade.." then saw chims. building and was like "oh... thats much better"
Mirror image got buffed. That's why people use it now.
Very entertaining, gg wp to both!
Grubby, where are dryads? XD Dont they have destroying summoned units spell? :D
i dont think, that would change anything since he could only dispell like 3 or sum units per dryads before the necros summs 50 more
They only have 2-3 single target abolishes at high mana and weak to siege. In low numbers they don't do anything vs necrowagon and Grubby had no lores built and low money at the time.
Grubby was used to making moonwells at this base. Would be more efficient if he built by the enemy's base. No more need to transpose units back to the base to heal.
I counted all the skeletons. Twice. And my final answer is : a lot.
I have a question Mr. Engineer. MsC. Genius @Grubby why do you started ancient of war vs an easy camp instead of a middle camp? [REAL QUESTION]
That was crazy, I thought it was over off the rush
Units killed: 320
Pretty insane
Dude that was an amazing game Grubbster !!
Must have been one of the most epic match this year.
Epic War Battle!!! As expected, its over once Demon Hunter gets to Lvl. 6.
Splash of Metamorphosis plus Splash of Lightning Chimaera. Plus Support Trueshot Aura!
cool game. well played! i really enjoyed it! thank you grubby
Necro strategy was IMBA in years when number of skeletons was not limited. The screen become full of them and they do mass damage to everything and you practically can't stop it. But Blizzard fix this with limit of skeletons that can be summoned, if you try to rise more skeletons, the older skeletons just disappear. I often beat 2 players at 2v2 when my teammate leave. But this was so many years ago :)
As far as i remember you could Counter mass skellis with staff of Negation in the Shop , priests or Whisps , But mainly with the staff , i guess it was in the Shop back than for exactly that reason
@@syableman6294 the count of skeletons that I made at this version was huge and dispellers die fast. The statues also gie more HP and mana in this patch. This was before more than 15 years.
Back then the biggest damage would be done to the opponent's framerate
@@Addsomehappy mostly at his army :)
@@tehnodruma ok i was talking aout roc times. i was there 3000years ago:)
This guy is cluckin Night King. What a game! GG 👏
the most most fun games against necro wagon. shame about no GG, he played v well. love seeing races being played to how they were intended. SIIIIICK KEEP THESE COMING
It's was a crazy game men! Thank you very much 😁😁😁
Why would you not build any Glaive Throwers, Grubby?
El Classico Night Elves vs Undead
Nerzhul and Cenarius are proud watching this video
WOW! Awesome game to watch! I'm surprised DM didn't have immolation?
Hey mister Grubby, (or whoever knows) I have 2 questions about 8:50
- Which spells in the game cancels the TP, does humans MK stun or Tauren stuns, cancels it? (Myabe silence?)
-How could your TP without clicking the actual map? What shortcut (sorceress) is this?
What an absolutely insane game! WP!
Loving this series ❤️❤️
That was one of the most epic games yet!
Great game!
also no faeiry dragon to counter magic?
This was awesome. I ve been wondering the entire time what is he waiting to produce aerial units or counter aerial untis. This was predictable. His first Wyrm came so late and he didn’t remake any crypt fiends.
Grubby why specifically did opo leave? Did his gold mine collapse?
Enemy had expo earlier, so his mine collapses as first :d
ah....i remember my first game in wc3 and going night elves.
the moment that arrow was released from the archers.
honestly the sound fx was underwhelming but endearing nonetheless.
this was over 20 years ago.
Cue in, Achilles theme, from that y2k era movie.
I always thought the acoloyte/peasent(etc) were there exploring your creeping pattern but also to try not to only deny last hit on the mob, but cant it also 1 shot the item it drops so it dissapears for you aswell?
Items kinda have a hidden healthpool. It takes a few hits for a hero to destroy it, i Imagine a few more from a worker
@@KaptainKokosnoed yeah I believe the healt pool is like 70?
Hoping that one day Melon does "Eat All Their Trees" challenge.
He's already attempted it.
Hope to see another game between you two
Skeletons are my favorite strategy. I would like to see you use it some Grubby 😃
Can someone explain to me how this game makes sense from a balance perspective? My noob eyes just see Grubby sweating for his dear life while the other guy keeps summoning skeletons with not a care in the world.
demon hunter ulti seems op because the opponent just instantly quited when DH got lvl6
Skeletons have counters like AoE and dispel damage. They are absolutely disgusting when you aren’t prepared to counter them, but they also give XP so if you can kill them they will push you ahead actually. Grubby was able to use wisp detonate to keep them under control until he could get chimaera which have AoE damage. Then Grubby’s heroes were much better and were able to just win it.
It's not just that skeletons melt when area dispel hits the field, but that massed skeletons dying in droves equals tons of XP. At game end, Grubby had 1 lvl 6 and 2 lvl 5 heroes, whereas his opponent had 2 lvl 4s. That's a massive difference, since it translates to extremely strong ultimates being available for Grubby much faster.
it's not really without a care, it was 2 base income vs single base income the entire game and ud barely managed to get out onto the map. when you factor in levels and gold remaining UD was dead lost for well over half the game. Yes you still have to pass the execution test but that's sort of normal in RTS games.
You can put the game into a winning state within a few minutes but you still have to execute for the rest of the game to win, it just means that if you respond correctly, you will win.
it may look like ud could push but in as the ud gets farther from their base they have less corpses, there's more wisps closer to NE base and with moonwells and defenders advantage... I mean you can look at when ud tried to push at the end with the strongest version of their army, they just can't get anything done.
You have to remember that the UD had twice Grubbys income for most of the game. Any match up with any strategies would involve a bit of desperation in that situation.
It also shows how much exp necrowagon gives away, that Grubby had more heroes and still got them higher levels than the UD. If you don't overrun the opponent fast enough, any of those 3 heroes lvl 6 abilities would drastically effect the undead ability to stay in the game, starfall especially.
And this UD really did play very well, it can be hard to notice in the sheer hordes of undead, but he micros his skeletons to focus down and finish priority targets pretty routinely, budgeted his necromancer mana well, and played a strong defensive game throughout. He denied grubby exp from as many skeletons as possible, an impressive number even
Curious if NE are the worst against mass skeletons since they have more limited mass dispel. Good game either way. Such nostalgia. Thanks for the continued content.
Warden 's lvl 3 Knives
how sad... the moment you get memorphosis he rage quits...
Thanks!
Epic fight! Commends to the enemy. Maybe he should try to add the sleep cc of dreadlord? Anyway great Rival and awesome battle.
Tough to say. UD was at an exp disadvantage with just how many skeletons have to be sacrificed on the enemy, and with how hard it is to take even a single archer off Grubby.
DL third splits that exp even further. But the ability to prevent those mana burn dives might have got some much needed coilnovas freed up
@@ambion19 yep when I played dota 1 and wow arenas I lernt that cc's are awesome.
Zounds of Skeletons
wonder what the count of arrows launched was
I like how NE can tp their hero back and heal them with moon wells, hope it doesn't ruin some other matchup 😊
what a show, omg, even got goosebumps when the CHIMS arriveddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddd!
What a match!
Thank you Grubby but these skeletons still don't have faces
So here is a dumb question from someone who didn't play this game for ages...
Are you playing reforged in order to play on bnet matchmaking, or is this the old one?
I totally skipped the reforged after the reviews so I don't know how it looks.
You can only play wc3 on the "reforged" client. But you can switch the visuals in the options to be non-reforged/classic. It's still the reforged build but just the old graphics.
was thinking how come naga did not do fork lightning earlier ? or maybe switching with some faries with flare to help, or 1-2 bears for healing only, and 1-2 MGs.
He didn’t have any lores and was low on gold at that point
well he rushed and dont have an expo so its actually a budget spent for the whole army built up
He spent all his money on an early PoTM and T3 Archer upgrades. He literally didn't have any money left before his 2nd expo was up and running.
get em Grub
Finally! A skeleton army
insane game
havent played in ages - but wouldnt it have been more useful to switch in to dryads and get rid of the archers at some point?
Dispel should have killed the summons easily ?
There's never enough dryads to dispel them all, one by one youd watch your army exhaust all its mana, and tax your moonwells. Factor in the shorter range and unarmoured typing against skeletal mages piercing damage and wagons siege, it's just not worth it
Necro summon is far more mana efficient than dryads. They also take extra damage from Meat Wagons and Skely Mages. You can already see in this game the UD is purposefully chasing all the Talons around with them.
hey grubby, wouldnt it be the best strategy for any nelf-player to get as early as possible moonwells till you have 80 food avaible since it is the only way of healing?
Except you'll have no upgrades, late tech, and fewer units to defend the wells with. Pretty sure Grubby only got the extra wells early as a precaution during the rush, he expected to lose one or two and didn't, ending up with surplus
Amazing Game!
Very classic wc3 game :)
Too bad he didn't say gg wp after such a cool game. So much spite.
Could anyone tell me why some none of late game units getting used in tryhard games? Like frost wyverns, mg's, taurens?
I'm pretty sure we saw some Chimeras this game.
Great game one of the best NEvsUD ever :D
Incredible levels of misplay by the UD player; once they had two bases up and a necrowagon infrastructure, they should have been attack-moving with all their money into either the NE main or the NE expo.
UD could also have focused a lot on the NE archer stack, which was vulnerable to skelly attacks, and made a lot of mistakes, but tbh, end of the day, it's just Grubby trolling some newbies.
It was also the correct strategic play on the part of the UD, given that, considering how heavily the UD player was outskilled by Grubby, necrowagon cheese was their best shot at victory.
You can also see how amateurish the UD was, because UD by standard walls in their mine (and sometimes walls in their base) using the high collision size from ziggurats and UD buildings.
Given the DH + archer army, by the way, it would also have been viable to go ghoul garg and try to tech to t3 (for frenzy and orb) before bringing in the necs (and using ghoul corpses instead of wagon corpses for skelly fodder).
Nice thumb! lol
Aaah, there it is! Loved this game A LOT!!!
