Galaxy Book3 Ultra user here. I just sold mine off to a guy today. While I loved the thing, and absolutely *loved* the Galaxy ecosystem software, the laptop itself was just NOT worth the $3,000 I spent on it. I'll admit -- I've yet to see another laptop with a display even _remotely_ touching the Galaxy Book's 3K OLED. Other than that, however, there are cheaper laptops with more powerful GPUs, with better speakers, with tougher build quality, and with better battery life.
This was really helpful, thanks dude. I've got an M1 Max MBP 14 right now, and it's great, but I have an S24 Ultra and a Tab S9 Ultra, so I've been thinking about getting one of these - but it kinda sounds like I should stick with the MacBook. TBH, this comment was a more useful factor in the decision than the video was.
@MikeStevens Honestly, I'd have kept the laptop if I could, but the key deciding factor for me was simply the battery life. It was atrocious. Barely three hours SOT, and that's on Quiet mode. The hardware is all there. It's a 16" laptop that's lighter, smaller, and thinner than an equivalent MacBook Pro, with *much* more powerful GPU power, and simply _the_ best display I've ever seen on a laptop. All that means nothing though, when I pull my laptop out at the Starbucks and find it a dead brick. Apple sold me on Apple Silicon's battery life. I'll swap back to Windows the second an equivalent comes out.
@@Blinx777 For one, the 2024 ROG Zephyrus G16 is better in *every single way* than the Galaxy Book4 Ultra at a slightly cheaper price. Thinner and lighter, more GPU power, bigger batteries, more ports, more powerful CPU options; and so on.

Wait, what? A Samsung "PRO" laptop comes with "S pen" and can bend "360 degrees," but a Samsung, literally "Ultra" laptop cannot Then, This Samsung Ultra is a Fake Ultra. It's like Imagine you get an S pen Support with Samsung Tab S9 plus but not with Samsung Tab S9 "Ultra" 🤣W
No, there’s two separate lines. First is Galaxy Book, Book Pro, and Book Ultra. And second is the Galaxy Book 360 and Pro 360. You’d need an Ultra 360 if you wanted what you’re looking for. And I guess the people who want a video editing/gaming machine wouldn’t care as much about the 2-in-1 functionality. Like, you wouldn’t complain that the S20 Ultra didn’t have an S Pen, since that’s what the Note 20 Ultra is for. The S and Note series are different, just like how the Book and Book 360 series are different

OEMs and Intel have an incestous relationship fostered over many years, so who knows what deals are done. It means AMD do not get a look in. Thankfully MS has backed WOA so ARM chips look like thye may have a chance to prosper. I think even Windows OEMs are fed up with Intel these days!

What prevents me to buying this laptop is that Samsung is trying to be Apple. Premium price for less what we get. Because of the cooling system you can't use fully the processor and gpu. The cooling system is too small to able use fully everything what the laptop could be capable.
Absolutely what I'd do, too. I bought a MacBook Pro just because it was so glaringly obvious that ARM is the future of computers. If X Elite comes close or beats Apple Silicon, I'd switch back in a heartbeat.
The Samsung chips (G, U and H) are still under powered to my taste, moreso at 2000 $ plus price tag. It is not justified, even with the Samsung ecosystem. I do have a Samsung Flex first gen (I7 16Go Iris plus) and I did pay over 2000 $ (CAD) for it. It is a great machine, but sincerely not worth the price.

I’m a big fan of Samsung and thought a lot went into the Book3 line and the “ecosystem” as a whole. They have one of the most powerful tablets and a viable folding phone, and they all integrate so well together. It was gimmicky a couple years ago, but in the world of “ecosystems”, Samsung has become a serious contender. Apple is great, but a little overrated, and lacking in innovation. I would really like a 2-in-1 Ultra model.
I agree. USBC/Thunderbolt is universal and it is dumb to waste a port on ancient HDMI. The EU has requested laptop makers to move away from proprietary ports like HDMI, so they will eventually cease.
It’s funny because Samsung is very competitive with Apple on every device. Phones are arguably better, buds are arguably better, pads are probably worse but they’re very close. If the laptop can rival a Mac then there is a very solid case.
Samsung also installs a lot of useless stuff on its flagship phones, like 2 keyboards, programs for messaging, and so on. So, it's not surprising that there's also garbage on the laptop
I would have said that a couple years ago, but the Book 3 line showed that they were becoming serious contenders, as far as premium work laptops are concerned. I wouldn’t pay a premium price for their lower end models, but I think those ones are priced reasonably. Samsung also has great trade-in deals.

Then, This Samsung Ultra is a Fake Ultra. What is the meaning of Ultra if it comes with a catch or a Drawback or with less features then it's Predecessors Pro Laptops. It's like
Imagine you get an S pen Support with Samsung Tab S9 plus but not with Samsung Tab S9 "Ultra" 🤣W
When you say it like that, it does sound pretty crazy
I agree with your statements lol
No, there’s two separate lines. First is Galaxy Book, Book Pro, and Book Ultra. And second is the Galaxy Book 360 and Pro 360. You’d need an Ultra 360 if you wanted what you’re looking for. And I guess the people who want a video editing/gaming machine wouldn’t care as much about the 2-in-1 functionality. Like, you wouldn’t complain that the S20 Ultra didn’t have an S Pen, since that’s what the Note 20 Ultra is for. The S and Note series are different, just like how the Book and Book 360 series are different
@@IceBlueLugia They Released s20 ultra and then Note 20 ultra and then realised that an ultra means, can do it all device, has all the features device but s20 didn't have all the features unlike note 20 ultra which indeed had all the features which is why the true ultra, the note ultra got merged with fake ultra the s ultra and thus become a s ultra with all available features and capacities thus a true ultra
I guess you are not getting the definition of the ultra, which means can do it all because if has it all
by your 2 line logic they can create an another fake ultra where one line of ultra will have high end cpu's only like samsung book cpu ultra where it will have all ultra 9 processor while an another lineup of samsung gpu ultra where it will have nvidia 4090 gpu's, did you see here how ultrs name has become useless if we have to keep the prefix of cpu ultra and gpu ultra
the job of the word ultra is to say, ther is no need to think about does this device has all this features or not in his name or in this specifications
a prefix ultra to a device says it all that it has all the features available and so it has it all and can do it all
if the prefix ultra need to have a one more prefix of 360 ultra according to you, then my friend you don't know the meaning of the word ultra 🤦♂️🤣
@@Manikanta.RapoluYou wrote out all this bullshit based on what you assumed the Ultra means. You provided no source or anything that Ultra means “do it all” lol. You have zero evidence to believe that Ultra means that, yet the S, Note, and Book naming schemes all say otherwise; you aren’t Samsung, your idea of what Ultra means is meaningless. Your rant about a CPU and GPU Ultra is just hilarious lol, that’s never been a distinction between types of Ultras. The Note line was killed to make room for the folds as their alternate flagship and because it was generally redundant. Not because Ultra means “do it all” or whatever you imagined
There are even rumors about a Fold 6 Ultra. I guess the S24 Ultra will be a fake Ultra then lol
Bro where is the gaming review. It has a dedicated graphics and that's a very big selling point
I wonder if the Smarthing and Dex work like android.
Let's be honest, at that price range, it's better to go for a 16" LG Gram. Though I don't understand why LG stick with Intel CPUs. Same for Samsung.
OEMs and Intel have an incestous relationship fostered over many years, so who knows what deals are done. It means AMD do not get a look in. Thankfully MS has backed WOA so ARM chips look like thye may have a chance to prosper. I think even Windows OEMs are fed up with Intel these days!
The SKUs they have are so strange, for some reason if you get the 1TB 16in Book4 Pro, you cant get a ram upgrade to 64 or even 32gigs, makes no sense
I also struggling whether buy this one or not cause I also got zlip5,watch and ear buds 2, but considering I have change my main phone to iphone 15 pro max and apple already announce that mac also got similar features that could mirror your iphone so...
Might be just brought Asus g14 for for portable option and mac for creator work,,, not sure, and some suggest Lenovo legion , so confuse...
Also can the McAfee be uninstall
Battery life?
Definietly a nice laptop.... But the price?🤔
I was with you and all set to purchase this until you started talking bloatware..thanks for pointing that out ill be going with the macbook air 15 inch m3 because of this
What prevents me to buying this laptop is that Samsung is trying to be Apple. Premium price for less what we get. Because of the cooling system you can't use fully the processor and gpu. The cooling system is too small to able use fully everything what the laptop could be capable.
The razer blade offers more performance
@@Granny_Gaming I agree👍
@alicard2236 now if you want a laptop that's not a gaming laptop Asuses pro art series offers the same specs at a lower price
They won't even sell it in Europe 😒
Am gonna wait to see what happens with x-elite chips
Absolutely what I'd do, too. I bought a MacBook Pro just because it was so glaringly obvious that ARM is the future of computers. If X Elite comes close or beats Apple Silicon, I'd switch back in a heartbeat.
@@skyscallsoon whole world will see when Intel and AMD will launch their new chips in computex 2024.

Nice review nice laptop
Burn in?
The Samsung chips (G, U and H) are still under powered to my taste, moreso at 2000 $ plus price tag. It is not justified, even with the Samsung ecosystem. I do have a Samsung Flex first gen (I7 16Go Iris plus) and I did pay over 2000 $ (CAD) for it. It is a great machine, but sincerely not worth the price.
Good review overall, but odd you didnt touch the gaming capabilities.
I think its one of the main reason someone would get this computer.
Love numpad❤
The book 4 pro 16 inch has better multicore score of 12600 what the heck is this here??!!!
you are handsome 😃😃
i have a 12700H and my geekbench 6.3.0 on average on single score is 2562 and average multi score is 12830. how are the scores on the Samsung lower than mine despite being 2 generations newer??

I’m a big fan of Samsung and thought a lot went into the Book3 line and the “ecosystem” as a whole. They have one of the most powerful tablets and a viable folding phone, and they all integrate so well together.
It was gimmicky a couple years ago, but in the world of “ecosystems”, Samsung has become a serious contender. Apple is great, but a little overrated, and lacking in innovation. I would really like a 2-in-1 Ultra model.
Unreasonably expensive
Whats the purpose of a hdmi plug if you have dual thunderbolt ? Beats me
It’s so you don’t need an adapter to connect to a projector.
Why do you look for 4K displays when not even 5 % of us care about it ? Another thing that beats me apart from the snobism of it, of course.
It is me again and you know what I am asking for
Gift would like to get iphones15pm
So much money for a laptop that looks like an old crappy chromebook
Samsung also installs a lot of useless stuff on its flagship phones, like 2 keyboards, programs for messaging, and so on. So, it's not surprising that there's also garbage on the laptop
samsung has very poor record when it comes to their laptops longevity..
Never buy a laptop from a washing machine and TV manufacturer 😂
I would have said that a couple years ago, but the Book 3 line showed that they were becoming serious contenders, as far as premium work laptops are concerned. I wouldn’t pay a premium price for their lower end models, but I think those ones are priced reasonably. Samsung also has great trade-in deals.
My Book Pro 1 is still running really well today, never had a problem with it...
@@adequatequality Well that washing machine and TV manufacturer also makes phones, tablets, tanks, ships, hospitals, roads, the fucking bhurj khalifa, military guns, etc

It literally takes less than 5 minutes to uninstall McAfee.. This is a non issue.
Samsung is just wasting money doing these laptops. They obviously don't have the software engineering support they need to execute them properly. Had a book2 360, it had so much bloatware from Samsung yet no advantages. My screen spontaneously cracked and I had constant graphics failure. If you care about drawing just get an S9 ultra because it's 10 times better than drawing on these.
With that said I'm a Samsung fanboy and these laptops were a bummer. Samsung pulled out of the market before for the same reason they couldn't get the software right.
McAfee Bloatware going ham.
But, I am certain that your issues aren't from Samsung themselves. Well unless you dissprove me. Samsung's build quality is usually one of the best and same goes for their laptops. Either you were buying from the local Samsung store which didn't handle the laptop with care, second hand seller which might have done the damage, or you done the damage yourself
@@ImJustSomeoneNamedLucas I bought it directly from Samsung. My issues were common and I even sent it in twice for repair. I've had zero issues with other Samsung products: s23 ultra, tab s9 ultra, tab s8 ultra, s6 lite, pro5 watch, s21, zflip4, watch4. I can't blame Windows either. I moved on to a legion Laptop and it was smooth as butter.
@@TechAfterThoughts Shit Samsung issues in their quality control then
Samsung's nice. But thhis thing is comparable to an HP Spectre and the Spectre is $700 cheaper.
Yeah I traded in a spectre for this. They are not comparable. Avoid HP like a plague. Plus if you have a samsung phone and tablet, it's a no brainer
