I find it odd that the same people who believe the Warriors were contenders at the start of the season after they had played 10 games now say they are not, even though the Warriors have the same Roster and are playing even better than they did at the start of the season? Yes, they had a terrible time for the majority of the first half, but look to be back on track, so how can you dismiss them so easily?
Unless Klay turns back the clock there's no way this warriors team is a contender, they're too small and have only guy that can get his shot off consistently off the dribble. It's a smoke screen. Just to get the Lakers distracted. To sew the seeds of doubt in the Lakers locker room. If you're Golden State, playing in the tough western conference, seeing the Lakers finally put together a decent stretch of games, while the Warriors are struggling, they are going to take every little opportunity that they can in order to get the Lakers out of their way.

I’m good with my bobbleheads. There’s no DWade bobblehead I really like except one from 2013. That’s the one that looks closest to his face. But I don’t have enough space on my shelf for any more. I will get a jersey of MJ later this week, so that should be checked off soon. I’m really not into NBA jerseys. I’m only getting one for MJ because I have one for Kawhi.
Used to have a Bird jersey but don’t plan to ever get one again. I’m in a Lakertown. Not the best idea. Getting a Lou Williams and Paul George jersey would be overkill since I already have Kawhi and I only like the 2017 City Edition blue jerseys. I’m good with just having bobbleheads of them.
I decided not to get a Penny or Shaq Orlando jersey. I’m more into football jerseys than basketball. I find basketball jerseys like a thong for your torso. The only thing I might get is a black DWade jersey and that’s still a maybe. The Barkley Suns jersey was given to me by my brother and it’s great.
Rookie (1992-1993) Shaq is my favorite NBA rookie of all-time. Even the name Shaquille O’Neal sounds cool to hear and say. I started collecting basketball cards maybe late 1991 to early 1992. Basically, Larry Johnson’s rookie season. The Mutombo rookie cards from Upper Deck used to be priced at $12 from Beckett. I used to go to The Batting Cage out in Glendale, CA to get my cards.
When Shaq entered the league, he was the first superstar I had ever seen in the NBA. I remember watching that lottery and that draft in 1992. He had a lot of hype and anticipation before entering the NBA and generally lived up to it. He came into the league next to Alonzo Mourning. Don’t fake the funk on a nasty dunk! I owned the Shaq Attaq 1s Blue Azure. Rookie Shaq used to dunk about 5x per game.
Shaq was the first rookie since MJ to be an all-star *starter* as a rookie. LeBron wasn’t an all-star during his rookie season. His memorable rookie game to me was against Phoenix in 1993 when he brought the basket down and delayed the game for a good 45 minutes. Televised on NBC. His dunk in New Jersey was more awesome but I didn’t see that on live TV like the one against Phoenix. True, he’s not the most skilled. He only played bully ball. But he’s the most fun to be around next to Magic, Chuck, and Boban.
I find Blue Chips (1994) to be a very underrated basketball movie. I didn’t think Shaq or Penny acted that great in it similar to Ray Allen in He’s Got Game (1998), but I thought Nick Nolte killed it. My favorite Shaq song is “(I Know I Got) Skillz”, his appearance on Fu-Schnicken’s “What’s Up Doc (Can We Rock)?”, and the DJ Quik produced track, “The Way It’s Goin’ Down”. Favorite gif of him is when he dunked on Chris Dudley.
I don’t get why Shaq gets dissed so much as a rapper? He hits bars harder than most current rappers. I’d honestly take him over Skip Bayless’ pals in Lil Wayne and Nelly. Kobe had a rap song with Tyra Banks and that was awful. Kobe was not exactly a great rapper but it’s Shaq who gets mocked for it. Shaq’s diss track towards Dame Dolla was great. Dame can only get out of the second round once.
Orlando Shaq remains my favorite version of Shaq. His best years were with the Lakers. But my favorite is Orlando and then Miami. I hate the Lakers, that’s why. I collected basketball cards from about 1991-1995. Then I got into horse racing by 1996, or technically, Dec 26, 1995. So when the draft class of 1996 came out, I didn’t really follow them like 1992-1995.
So happy to see Shaq next to Penny and showing each other love. People don’t realize how great Penny was going to be had he not get injured. He could’ve been better than Kobe! Shaq said this last year. Penny’s game was nice. He was 90s Magic Johnson. His passes were smooth. Shaq said Penny was Kobe before Kobe. I say Penny was more LeBron before LeBron.
Had Shaq and Penny stuck together and Penny never got injured, I believe they would’ve won chips together. They were a better match than Shaq and Kobe because Penny was a pass first guy. He was always looking to pass first to Shaq. Penny was 6’7. I saw him do work on MJ. Kobe blasted Penny for 38 in 1999 (their second meeting) but Penny held his own and this was already after he got injured in 1997.
Take 1995 Orlando Magic vs. 2000 Los Angeles Lakers and I would probably still take the Lakers because 2000 Shaq was bigger, heavier, and stronger than 1995 Shaq. C’mon, 1995 Shaq got swept by a 6th seed. And 2000 Kobe would outscore 1995 Penny. But I think Penny could’ve won more rings with Shaq instead of the 3 that Shaq and Kobe won together. Penny would’ve had a lesser ego to have his own team. There would’ve been less feuds.
If I can hang out with any NBA player, dead or alive, past or current, it would be Shaq and then maybe Wilt. Jordan is my favorite player but he’s not someone I would want to hang out. He’s from a different generation than me. I’m like Charissa Thompson where I don’t want to meet my heroes. I’d rather hang out with Kobe, DWade, or LeBron since I’m closer to age with them. We grew up enjoying similar things from pop culture.
There’s a lot of things I have in common with LeBron. We share similar tastes in things we like. We’re Dec babies. We both write with our left but do most things with our right. We enjoy similar sitcoms and movies. His favorite players are MJ and Penny and same with me. He picked the Niners to beat the Cowboys and was correct. And since I don’t idolize Shaq or LeBron as much as MJ, it would be easier to meet them. I’d have less expectations. I don’t look at them as God like I do for MJ.
I know Shaq can be sensitive. He has a fragile ego. He hates criticism of himself. He left Penny, Kobe, and DWade all on bad terms. He got jealous of Penny because he was getting all the endorsements. He got fat and lazy in LA and feuded with Kobe. He had a photoshop of DWade’s head on a female body. He boned Gilbert Arenas’ chick. He can be a jackass and bully. But he’s also the most fun-loving. He’s the guy you want on your side in any street brawl.
Shaq recently released a dub step album as he also works as a DJ. You see him participating in mosh pits in concerts. He’s been a police officer. He’s kinda like a renaissance man. He wants to be good in a lot of areas. He’s a national treasure. Appreciate the guy while he’s still with us.

His kids go to school there. He moved there to do movies after he retires. The move is to stay but try and force the Lakers to trade those picks and get him another championship.
