My parents watched the filming of the scene in which Marilyn Monroe asks Tony Curtis (as "Shell Oil Junior") which yacht is his. According the them, there were actually no ships in the water; the ocean beyond the waves was apparently matted in later. Tony Curtis was not present in that part of shooting. Monroe was speaking to either a script off-camera or a stand-in. I consider this scene between Monroe and Curtis to be one of the funniest in US cinema history. Monroe, despite all her troubles making the film, did a wonderful job, particularly with this scene. Curtis, with his Cary Grant impression, was great as well.
Thanks for sharing. I was there in 82. My friend was attending SDSU. There wasn't any net or YT back then, so all I could do was enjoy the Hotel Del, and take in history.
i lived in san diego when this movie was filmed, spent alot of time on cornado by the hotel and saw parts of this movie being filmed and marilyn monroe was there, i was 8 years old and can still see her on the beach.
I love this seeing Marilyn Manroe and how pretty she was and I was in San Diego and we wondered around that hotel it was really fun being in the beach and seeing all the sights and sounds. Some Like It Hot! Marilyn Manroe best movie and those days 1959 people had class back then!
I went here on my honeymoon...so beautiful! I miss it terribly...esp right now, we are experiencing a blizzard where I am living. Can't wait to go back...
When I visited San Diego for the first time last year, I made a special trip to the Hotel del Coronado partly because of its appearance in "Some Like It Hot".
Great! I really enjoyed this. Thank you for all the work you have done. This must have taken a chunk out of your time, but the result is totally brilliant.
Your videos are all genius. Can you do a video about Rain Man filming locations including St Anne’s Convent, 1000 Saint Anne Drive, Melbourne, aka Wallbrook? Thank you.
I want to go back to that era and never wanna come back ... I’m blown away how great they were
MET MARILYN IN 1961..SWEET LADY
Must've been a great memory! Do tell more please

❤️❤️❤️❤️
I always thought the hotel had been demolished decades ago.
Nice
They should make the movie 'Some like it hot' in color. It would've been better in color. I still like it in black & white.
I stayed at this hotel when I visited the US
Adoro esa. Peli. Por Marilyn el hotel mi favorito
Nobody is perfect!

Hotel del Coronado san Diego, California. 1998,2002.

I would have taken some of that see sand home. Marilyn monroe once walked on it
shame ther wasnt more scenes
😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍
None of the interiors were actually filmed at the hotel (its way too dark in there).
I think, the lobby of the hotel in the movie was rebuilt on a soundstage, as usual
Have u done any other locations which marylin monroe filmed
Ca ferait moins de vues mais un avant apres de rabbi jakob ou camping....les rendonneurs serait cool...
It looked better back then
billy davis jr
