You are totally fine with a traslator for tourism. People there are generally cooperative and patient with foreigners questions even if you bring up traslators to talk with them.
I cried so much in Europe right now while seeing my hometown in your video😭 I am from this village! and we used to have some foreign tourists (because of the famous mountain Huangshan aka "yellow mountain"😂). But these years I think fewer and fewer foreingers visit china, and even fewer will visit my city -- foreigners just have too many choices other than a small historical village 😂 I came across your channel by accident, and didn't expect you to visit Hongcun and Tunxi Old Street at all. I really appreciate your work, and i will watch them from time to time whenever I feel nostalgia😢 In my heart Huangshan city is really a nice place of interest, very clean and beautiful, with well preserved history and unique natural views. But most native people don't know English tbh, and it's a quite backwards city in China haha. Thus, the transportation system there is complex and old fashion. I was even shocked seeing you made your way to explore it without knowing Mandarin. You are among the best🫡
@bkn4408 I'm currently doing my master, and I guess I'm not going back home soon 😂, but I can't foresee what will happen in 5-10 years. I have no preference between staying abroad and going back home😋
The fruit you bought is the Chinese date. Taste like apple. Does not really matter if it is green or red. It is commonly dried to be used in herbal soup and tea.
As a nepali, I can assume that when she said "shi(10), it got translated to "si(4)".it's similar like hindi saat(7) and sath(60), the Chinese would also get confuse😆😆😆
The elder sister said 10 yuan, but perhaps due to dialect issues, she pronounced it more like 4 yuan, so the translator also thought it was 4 yuan, not intentionally overcharging. Sometimes, errors may occur due to inaccurate pronunciation and translation software issues
I am more interested in watching the old Chinese civilisation than the new developed one . Because the new one is quite similar to western world. But the old civilisation connects me more to the Chinese people . ❤
In China, the poorest rural people have already fully used electricity and the internet, as well as clean tap water and most of the natural gas Electricity, internet, tap water, and natural gas are not considered unique to Western civilization, but should be shared by all humanity
I'm also interested in rural and traditional life of china rather than city 🏙️, because old China gives me a very very different vibes, someday if possible definitely try to visit rural China, not city... ☺️
Correction:-- That Chinese Woman Said Shi yuan and (Shi) means Ten yuan and that Cross Symbol also means 10 yuan but in translation her pronunciation was a bit weak she said (si) yuan which means 4
Agree. The seller didn’t rip off the buyer. On the fridge magnet's display board is written 10 yuan on the top. Seller spoke clearly and perfectly in Mandarin and repeatedly made the cross symbol meaning 10 with her fingers. The adjacent black board has prices in yuan for her other merchandise for sale. He didn’t even bother to learn the numbers 1 to 10 but relied completely on his phone’s voice translator to English but is obviously not perfect. In India, there are 320 languages - how did he get by in his native India?
AK, you visit under the retention of ancient cultural heritage of ancient villages, 6:50 is gave true in rural China in reality. Another on the issue of the lake water quality, this is actually a village wastewater treatment center. Depend on the plants' natural filtering system, you can see the water plant, is for the sake of life wastewater treatment plant, tend to have more than three layers of filtering
The Chinese words 10 and 4, pronounced very similarly, were not pronounced very well by the woman, so your machine mistranslated it and translated it as 4 yuan. But you didn't notice the price of 10 yuan written on the wall, so she didn't lie to you.😇
I used to bring my students from art school to Hong village every year to draw and paint. Four and ten is very similar in pronunciation. And she used finger to show you it's ten. the cross is ten. However she didn't realize that the cross means ten is because that's China character of ten.

Does not matter if you don't get the correct pronunciation, but you should try to pronounce it as accurately as possible. Cheers and happy traveling. Zai Jian.
The village visited has a history of several hundred years, which was intentionally preserved by the Chinese government because these old houses will be preserved as a heritage of historical and cultural heritage.

The lady didn't scam you , the (十 )means 10 yuan you can Google it , in Chinese "si" means 4 & "shi" means 10 . I think the translator was confused between "si" & "shi"
The board clearly shows 10.

You are totally fine with a traslator for tourism. People there are generally cooperative and patient with foreigners questions even if you bring up traslators to talk with them.
@@GormenInglistechar IncrediBLE. 21 languages,?!
I cried so much in Europe right now while seeing my hometown in your video😭 I am from this village! and we used to have some foreign tourists (because of the famous mountain Huangshan aka "yellow mountain"😂). But these years I think fewer and fewer foreingers visit china, and even fewer will visit my city -- foreigners just have too many choices other than a small historical village 😂
I came across your channel by accident, and didn't expect you to visit Hongcun and Tunxi Old Street at all.
You know or understand Hindi
@Superman-sx7sl unfortunately i don't understand🥹 but he added English subtitles😁

As a nepali, I can assume that when she said "shi(10), it got translated to "si(4)".it's similar like hindi saat(7) and sath(60), the Chinese would also get confuse😆😆😆

The womon show her two fingers like the acrose, it means ten in Chinese word.

As a Nepali? 😂 What a joke 😂😂😂
Ma timilai maan parauchu
The elder sister said 10 yuan, but perhaps due to dialect issues, she pronounced it more like 4 yuan, so the translator also thought it was 4 yuan, not intentionally overcharging. Sometimes, errors may occur due to inaccurate pronunciation and translation software issues
To put it bluntly, it's the blogger's translation software
10 is shi,4 is si, it's the inaccuracy of translation,the lady did tell it's shi yuan each.10 each,not 4
There is a pricing 10 on the board in fact
I am more interested in watching the old Chinese civilisation than the new developed one . Because the new one is quite similar to western world. But the old civilisation connects me more to the Chinese people . ❤
In China, the poorest rural people have already fully used electricity and the internet, as well as clean tap water and most of the natural gas
Electricity, internet, tap water, and natural gas are not considered unique to Western civilization, but should be shared by all humanity
Definitely!!
I'm also interested in rural and traditional life of china rather than city 🏙️, because old China gives me a very very different vibes, someday if possible definitely try to visit rural China, not city... ☺️

Correction:--
That Chinese Woman Said Shi yuan and (Shi) means Ten yuan and that Cross Symbol also means 10 yuan but in translation her pronunciation was a bit weak she said (si) yuan which means 4
Yes, 10 yuan "shi" and 4 yuan "si", as long as the slightest accent, even the Chinese themselves can not tell the difference
I love china more than India🇮🇳😅

Wow nice place brother ❤❤❤❤
The Chinese words 10 and 4, pronounced very similarly, were not pronounced very well by the woman, so your machine mistranslated it and translated it as 4 yuan. But you didn't notice the price of 10 yuan written on the wall, so she didn't lie to you.😇
@Clover Welcome to Malaysia, Malaysia Chinese speak English, Malay, Mandarin, Cantonese, Fujian, Hakka and more......

The village visited has a history of several hundred years, which was intentionally preserved by the Chinese government because these old houses will be preserved as a heritage of historical and cultural heritage.
