And a fine example that the American experiment has failed and turned into exactly what it was started over in the first place. You don’t have justice in America you have a corrupt DOJ , an elitist system that means if you have money or are useful to those with money you can dodge justice. This is the sort of thing you hear of in India and other places where corruption is rife. America is exactly the same when you have elected officials openly dodging justice.

@@facilitator1031 As a knee-jerk reaction, I would agree with the statement that this wasn't murder, but upon a closer look, that theory loses strength. If I'm not mistaken, the first words out of his mouth on the 911 call were that he was the Attorney General, so he was already seeking preferential treatment and a potential cover-up. Then an officer arrived on-scene and supposedly, the officer and this AG walked up and down the road, trying to find out what he hit. Considering the fact that the decedent's glasses were on this guy's car seat (and it's reasonable to assume the officer on-scene saw them that night, not at a later date), it's obvious that this guy hit a person and it's absolutely astounding that the officer on the scene lent this guy a car to drive home instead of arresting him on the spot.
So, being alerted to glasses (which were not his) sitting on his car seat, he then knew that he hit a person, not an animal. At that point, one could suspect that he stopped searching for the person because he wanted/intended for that person to die so there wouldn't be any witness to the crime (the intent thereby "upgrading" the crime to murder).
To be clear, none of us know exactly what happened and none of us know what was going through his mind that night, but when shown the facts, it is not clear that it wasn't murder. I would agree that it sounds like the initial action (hitting the person with his car) wasn't murder, but his behavior afterward, and thus taking the entire event as a whole, certainly could be viewed as murder, in my opinion.
They're Republicans. I see a "You scratch my back, I scratch yours" deal in the near future.
The AG murders someone, drives home and has to pay a fine?!? Hard to say which is worse the Gov or AG.
They're both corrupt and should be kicked out of office. Ravnsborg should be re-tried for the traffic charge as it's obvious he lied to the police.

I don't know anything about this. Am I understanding you correctly? He said he hit something, didn't know what it was & they found the victim's glasses inside his car, and the victim on the side of the road?
Most people who hit an _animal_ stop and either help it in some way or feel horrible about a genuine accident if they've killed something that jumped out of nowhere. Jeez, I've braked for birds.
Even if it was genuinely an unavoidable accident, the implications of those details make it incredibly difficult to believe he's not guilty of some sort of crime. What a horrific way to treat any person.
(Edit: not to minimise hitting/ killing an animal, or even suggest we are superior... we don't necessarily act like it; but it's not a crime, & **normal** people apparently feel more guilt over that.)

Every time I read about this high level of corruption going unpunished, I always think back to the black woman who was sent to prison for 5 YEARS for filling in an election ballot which was never counted. She had asked if it was the right thing to do in her situation and was told "fill it in and if it isn't OK we won't count it". Time to get rid of the filth taking advantage of the position of trust they have been given.

I grew up in here the Deep South, but half of my family is from the upper Midwest. I'm very much accustomed to horrible southern politicians, but one reason I've considered retiring to IA or MN for part of the year is the regional ethos that marries ethical executive behavior with an avoidance of ideological extremism. However, I'm becoming pessimistic.
