I'm sure that 3 signs in 2:49 come from Hong Kong as the language of the Chinese words are Cantonese. The Chinese words actually had nothing to do with potato but saying someone is potato in Cantonese means that the person is kinda dumb, oblivious or idiot (potato sounds similar to idiot I think).
The direct translation of the top sign is saying that "I treat you like how precious the pearl is so don't you treat me like salty waterweed (草 mean grass) (It just means don't treat me like a nobody) ." (寳 rhymes with 草 )
The middle one is" When looking (at you) from afar, (you) look beautiful/good-looking like came from a painting/drawing. When looking (at you) closely, (you) look like a pork chop (Hong Kong people like to use pork chop, or simply pork or pig to describe someone is ugly)". (畫 and 排 also rhyme)
Although the Chinese words in the bottom sign was covered for a bit, I can still somehow know the words as I heard that terms. It means "Big head but no brain, even with big brain, the brain contains/grows full of grass (not sure about the 7th word as I have heard both version, but the meanings are still the same)." (腦 rhymes with 草 )
The meanings are similar but they don't use the same objects as the translation. Hong Kong people also like to use rhyming words for their popular slang sentences although they are quite old-fashioned now.
