Great to see this again, I was sitting at the top of the hill and this was my favourite track as from the hill you could see so much and this track was known as a fender bender track because of the tight racing and even tighter track :) I still have some pics of many of these drivers and never missed a national meeting at this track while I lived in Sydney
Car 33 was Mike Burgmann’s Commodore that he was killed in later in the year at Bathurst. Coincidentally the Jaguar sitting behind him on the grid was the same car and driver that he was attempting to pass when he had his accident.
After the rebuild and total upgrade of the Volvo prior to We;;ington 86 by then reigning ETCC Champion Thomas Lindstrom the Volvo had the latest Volvo motorsport pistons vlaves, intercooler fully adjustable fornt suspension, roll cage and uprights and was a significantly btter car than 85 This is why the 240T won 3 of the first four races Thomas also reprofiled the impellor John Amundsen former tactacian MPM
Contrary to what you've previously been told....the 1325kg and 400hp was for the Group A Commodore in 1986. Dick Johnson's Mustang only had about 365hp on tap.
Don't think I have ever seen a TV coverage miss so many important passes. Bailey with the Les Small engined Commodore was the start of Brock's HDT downfall, never understood why he stayed with their engine builder for many more years to come when first Small's engines, then others just blew them away down the straights, especially Bathurst, both up and down the hill. Who can forget Grice just blowing past Brock down Conrod in the Chickadee Commodore this same year, 1986, must have had 30 or 40 more horsepower than Brock's..
Goosebumps all over!
Volvo vs Skyline. and the flying brick wins! Who would have thought =P

@21Wook75 Vaguely remembering the green Stang, it is about 1325kg and approx 400hp. Not much, but she was the sweetest handling car of 'em all..
