  • A project video: what can you do with an old smart phone? In this case my old Samsung Galaxy S2.
Well, it has a bunch of sensors including "gyroscopes" that are actually accelerometers.
So I turned it into a cheap (saw blade) inclinometer. Doing this with the Galaxy was fairly easy because the phone has a flat back; at least, it's flat in all the places that matter (so why the video still takes 12 minutes is a bit of a mystery).
I did try using an even older phone - an HTC - but that had a rounded back. However, if yours has a curved back and you're interested in what I tried, leave a comment and I'll do a supplementary on the HTC.
SAFETY NOTE: if you have cross-cut (or any other kind of) table saw sled, not only should you paint the blade areas red, and have a blade box or a double trailing fence, but you should also have push handles in a safe place, and consider adding something painful so you can't push on a red area! Doh!

I wasted my money on a Wix digital angle tool. 😄

Ah well, perhaps two opinions as to what the angle might be are better than one.

Nice video. Maybe you should choose a different title for your video. It does not reflect the real subject and will not get as many views as it should.
