- Oxford Mathematics Public Lectures: Graham Farmelo - The Universe Speaks in Numbers
An old-fashioned tale of romance and estrangement, Graham Farmelo's Oxford Mathematics Public Lecture charts the 350-year relationship between Mathematics and Physics and its prospects for the future. Might things be less dramatic in future? Might they just have to be 'going steady' for a while?

I don't recall a single equation or number in his entire talk. He didn't present one word of evidence that the universe speaks to us in numbers, only quotes from great minds that it does. The single biggest omission was Noether's theorem, which was so instrumental in helping Einstein with recinciling Relativity and Quantum Mechanics. To this day it remains the clearest expression of Mathematics as the language of Nature, and the key attribute is symmetry.
Thanks for sharing this wonderful lecture!
My son 13 years old really appreciated it!

4:01 - "As you know, all predictions about the future science like the future of British politics are completely worthless, but it is entertaining nonetheless"
Well, at least we knew about Theresa May's resignation.
