    Another great video Steve. These short and to the point videos are easy to follow without becoming boring.
    I would definitely say that shots 2 and 3 are the easier ones to try first because they have more room for error.

    Thanks for the tutorial vid on this shot.. I always land on the wrong side of the blue... and sort of know a bit what to do.. but I always end up hitting the white too hard and kiss one of the bulk colour.. and was hoping hitting hard will give me a better chance of coming back up to one of the loose red.. I’ll be practicing this shot when I next go in next.. thank you

    Great video as always thanks Mate! Look forward to practicing this. I have an on or off switch approach with side for some reason, so this has highlighted that you don't need to be playing at extremes of the cue ball

    Once again very informative Steve, and I like the idea of showing exactly where to strike the cue ball by showing an image of the cue ball on the right with a red dot. It would be nice to also show exactly where the cue ball strikes the object ball. I.e. If your using side to try and pot the blue ball and take the cue ball up between the Brown and Green, where should the cue ball strike the object, is it half ball, quarter ball, three quarter ball.

  • @musicbro8225
    @musicbro8225 6 лет назад

    I played this shot today and said before I shot "lets see if I make it between brown and green". Well I successfully made it between brown and yellow instead but the right hand side was perfect for avoiding the yellow... 50% success rate i guess you could say haha. Thanks for the good video.
    I think more on side and judging angles of cue ball trajectory would be useful for me.

    Hi, thanks for all your amazing video's, very informative,
    would it be possible for you to explain, or demonstrate in a video, the effects of throw on the object ball, on half ball, and quarter ball shots,
    just how much throw is there, do you have to aim different if you use top spin or back spin, or use stun shots, does the object ball throw more at low speed
    thanks, keep up the good work :)

    Hi Steve, can you explain how your aim for the blue/ the angle of the shot on the blue changes when you apply side on this kind of shot?

    • @BartonSnooker
      @BartonSnooker  5 лет назад

      Hello!
      Yes, you will need to adjust your aiming to judge for the effect of 'Throw' & 'Swerve' on the cue-ball.
      I will make a video discussing this in the very near future.
      For now, I would say take the baulk colours off the table, and just practice potting the blue and coming off the baulk cushion with side. If you miss a few shots, stay down on the shot and pay attention to where the blue ball goes. That way you can work out for each shot, whether you need to aim thicker or thinner.

    Another good video! 3.24 in i notice and looks like that you are watching the white! This habit of watching the white ball would quite possibly mean missing the pot!!

    • @BartonSnooker
      @BartonSnooker  6 лет назад +1

      Hi. Thanks again for watching 🙂
      Once the object ball has hit the pocket, there is no problem with watching where the white is going afterwards. As long as you keep your eyes on the object ball until it hits the pocket, that is fine. If you watch any top professional, they all watch the white ball after the object ball has been potted.

    Always found shots 2 and 4 quite difficult as the right hand side pushes the cue ball away from the blue when struck hard. Shot 3 though, I can play on auto pilot, just seems to suit my game

  • @mikepalmablue
    @mikepalmablue 6 лет назад

    Great Vid, good camera and where to strike cue ball images too !!
    one question when you are putting the side on do you have to allow on line of aim of the shot and aim a little thicker as the white will go of the straight on shots 2/3

    • @BartonSnooker
      @BartonSnooker  6 лет назад

      Yes that's right. You always need to change the line of aim when using side. This will depend on the pace of the shot, how your cue and tip reacts. So set a few up and see how you get on 🙂

    When you are referring to side when you say a little or lots of are you referring to hitting extremities of cue ball or with more power or a combination.?

    The final line on shot 2 seems alot more reliable than shot 1. but the amount of side makes the shot harder. Which would you genuinely recommend?

    • @BartonSnooker
      @BartonSnooker  4 года назад +1

      I would play shot 2. You'd need to be a good standard player that's confident using that side spin, but it's a much more reliable way of getting on the red. I wouldn't expect to get position from the first shot very often, whereas I would back myself to get the pot most times AND get good position with shot 2.

    Question: I'm a weekend but serious player and have improved my game massively by watching various coaching videos. I've been struggling to make a century. Every weekend I'm making 50plus breaks. This weekend i made 70, 55, 64 and 59, but just can't get over the line. I don't think it's nerves. A couple of times, I was almost there until i get a smoker or a kick. So frustrating! Any ideas? (My highest is 84)

    • @jenchen5916
      @jenchen5916 6 лет назад

      Gypsy Soul if you are stopped by kicks then that s bad luck, but it should not be the main reason if you are constantly denied of a century. Usually after makes big breaks close to a centuries the remaining reds on the table require more precise post io all play as there are not much margin for error or no insurance to pot other reds, so increase accuracy of white ball control is a must. Also, the last few reds left could be in very awkward positions, eg, close to side cushion, requires rest play or requires precise cannon of a colour, so practise rest shot and cannon of a colour is critical. Also at early stage of break building try avoid cannon reds onto the cushion or if you have to canon, do it in a way that reds will bounce back off the cushion far enough so you can have an easier pot later in the break. Lastly, practise consistency during you normal routine to stabilise your concentration. Eg, try potting 300 balls in one go, or 100 blacks on a single spin, all these are not hard to do if only 10 or 20, but as you go deeper you ll find easy shots become harder as concentration level will go down.

    It is great video, these kind of shot involve side spin in different amount. And playing with sidespin is not easy task, it leads to missing pot, it happens quite often with me.
    Please make comprehensive video answering
    1. How to aim when playing with side spin.
    2. What is technical difference between playing with centre ball striking and off centre striking
    3. Is there change in grip,
    4. What is Dynamics of back swing, follow through, delivery of cue, distance between cue ball object ball, amount of side spin, aiming while executing shot with sidespin, keeping the cue weight, cloth, environmental condition constant.
    These questions came in my mind while attempting to play sidespin. Success rate is not satisfactory.

    I thought a stun shot sends the cue ball 90 degrees from the path of the object ball. By that logic, shouldnt a stun shot send the cue ball towards the brown?

    Sir I've got a small problem.. It seems funny but it affects my cue action... Have you ever shaved in the morning and tried to play snooker.... I mean whenever i try to cue, it feels very ichy and uncomfortable to cue... When cue grace on the chin.. Is it me or it happens with every one 😂😂😂😂

  • @healthiswealth8153

    i would never play the first shot as there is more to go wrong (hitting it too hard, catching the green no real margin of error). Always where possible like you say, is to play the white onto the line towards the next ball you're playing for as you will mostly be in position even if you don't get the pace exactly right unlike the first shot
