ITS SIMPLE WERE TAXED ON BUYING THE FUEL & TAXED TO BURN THE FUEL taxed on buying the vehicle then taxed to to drive on the roads our tax dollars paid for

And how can Landstar know which route you chose to drive in order to calculate your IFTA payment (or refund)? Are the trailers fitted with trackers?

It’s like a Peter to pay Paul system that you’re trying to get us to see. I understand the intent. Or I’m just too dense and more than likely overthinking it. Anyways, I appreciate the video because you’re trying to get us to be smart about where we get our fuel and to understand the way we see the “prices.” Over time money is money and anything we can add to our bottom end is always a great thing to plan for. Sorry for the confusion. Basically you should buy the cheapest gas after fuel tax and Landstar discount. Because fuel tax is based on the miles you drive each state.
Your tax burden is based on miles drives through each state but how much you pay into that tax burden is based on gallons bought. Correct? Which is why its better to buy fuel in higher taxed states to cover a larger portion of your overall tax burden across many states.
@clutchitup9861 you gonna pay the tax when you drive through the state ANYWAYS. So.. I wonder if it’s not better to get the best (base) fuel cost… minus fuel tax and WITH Landstar discount. Cause I’m gonna pay the tax regardless. Might as well try to get the fuel cheaper. 🤷🏾♀️

I'm planning on getting back in the seat next month now that the kids are all grown up with the plan of having my truck within 2.5 years. Didn't have all the electronics back then, so I'm learning stuff ahead of time.

I love your videos but I am NOT understanding ANYTHING you are talking about about the IFTA. I’ve been driving 15 years and been an owner op for 4 years and I have absolutely NO IDEA what your calculations are saying or meaning or what!!!!!!! Am completely lost!
@@truckingandfixing Not everyone is leased to landstar. I can’t see the real cost of fuel like you can. I tried to find an app but to no avail. I’m still not sure either. You videos are good but this one has more questions than answers for me.
The fuel tax is built into pump price. You can look up each states ifta tax rates for what number to subtract from pump price. If your company has discounts then factor that in as well. If fuels $2 and fuel tax is .35 cents in that one state, pump price should be $2.35. Make sense?

Landstar uses ELD to calculate your miles on each state. Yes that different state IFTA tax play a part in the calculation.

I prefer to pay the California tax instead of buying that 20% dirty bio diesel in their state.

You don’t need to remember the miles for each states. ELD keep track of them.

most of the app TA, pilot, loves etc..will tell you the fuel blend is in each location.

Good info thanks and a quick question, how do you like your forever sharp steering wheel so far? Is it comfortable? Cause looks really good for sure
The spokes is somewhat uncomfortable, other than that, it stays clean easier than the factory steering wheel. But I still would recommend it.
Can I just buy fuel based on the miles I run in a state, divided by my miles per gallon in each state to keep it simple?
