At about four minutes, he drops into the Welsh accent, to my ear one of the most beautiful in the English speaking world, to read my favorite passage in the poem. What a gift.
Some people have a voice that's meant to read Poetry - Richard Burton is one of them! Listen to Robert Donat reading his favourite Poems - wonderful too!
@@clydegatell7015 Well, sure! You're right about that. But Richard Burton with a New York accent, ala Willy Loman? I mean...I don't disagree, I just can't picture it. Then again, I think Richard Burton should have played Dr. Who, so I'm a bit mental.
@@IronFoot-n1qHis accents were always excellent and authentic and his personal travails would’ve provided character guidance to create his own Willie which would’ve impressed Miller!
It is cold here. And the Sun puts in only a reluctant glance for about 7 hours, failing to challenge the grey clouds. It is a grim, sad, lost place. We are led astray by small-minded, tiny-souled pompous clowns, who celebrate their power to inflict pain, destruction, death on their innocent superiors. Even on the blameless children, fresh from creation and unblemished by any malice, full of the huge glory which bore them. The small-souled creeps who rule us into chaos are lost in their smallness. But the much bigger place still gives life. Children are still glowing enough to even enloy cold. Here is the great Richard Burton giving his rich voice to Dylan Thomas's Child's Christmas in Wales: ruclips.net/video/SDdEvkQf9ko/видео.html

A Merry Christmas to all this day. ...òne of my favorite traditions this. Well done Mr. Burton. Well done indeed.
Blessed with a magnificent voice.❤
Beautifully done. Also appropriate that he's standing at a bar
When Richard Burton spoke..............you would listen.
A great actor reading a great poet.

Richard Burton could read the alphabet and make it fascinating.
Sublime.
The only other voice capable of speaking the words of Dylan Thomas beside Thomas himself was fellow Welshman, Burton.
And at times, the Pontrhydyfen accent comes ringing through amidst the clarion-ring of an authentic context.
Lovely comment
Dickie Jenkins our Greatest Actor!!! Would that we could’ve seen him as Lear, Willie Loman or all the great roles he never graced!!!!
Willy Loman? Richard Burton? Hmmm......not so sure.
@@IronFoot-n1qHis scope and versatility and imagination was unparalleled

making it alive without electricity
So nice; a respite from the current barbarism. In today's world people just want to blow things up or insult you.
I'm sorry. Dylan does it so much better.
I tend to agree but Burton is still simply marvellous.
