@furiouslycollecting I agree, I've seen the best and worst possible outcomes for RLC members! Usually 9/10 times you can blame the shipping company, but in this case, because of that warped protector, I had to put the blame on Mattel. Yeah, while it's unfortunate, it's still an awesome piece to have in the collection. There may also be some changes to it in the future so keep an eye out for that. 👀
The corner of mine was straight up bent Not just flared damage. But straight up bent. Idk how it was even possible for the corner to bend as much as it did in the protector unless it was put in the protector bent
I agree with you..whether your preference was to open or keep it boxed the model and packaging should appear mint and the model near perfect (aka not a loose hood)...and especially if it's a premium model which it was. 👍 Kinder glad really I've never signed up to rlc club/membership etc cause I can bet I'd of been disappointed...I just get the odd rlc on ebay for a decent price if it's one I really like and isn't worth absolute silly money like the CandyStriper Gasser lol.
@Giltord did you not see me open the car? I'm picky because I paid 35 dollars for a car that should come mint from the factory, and Mattel clearly didn't deliver that. Quality products shouldn't be hit or miss when you spend 30+ dollars on a premium adjacent car. 🤣 It like spending 20k on a Prius, and all the tires come flat. 🤣 it's more-so the principal, rather than the resell value. I've stated in other comments, that my entire collection will go to my son, and if he decides to sell them one day, he COULD get more money for a mint car, rather than a damaged one. Throughout the years, I started stepping back from Hotwheels little by little and became open minded with other premium brands but I would collect some Hotwheels depending on the casting but the majority of diecast vehicles I collect are from other premium brands.
I appreciate the kind words! Hotwheels will always have place in my heart, I collected as a kid, got back into it when I had my son, now he loves them. He loves the fact I make "hotwheels videos" too. 😂 It wasn't until a year ago until I started getting into the higher end brands, so it's always good to have some variety. It also helps that hotwheels do so many castings that can be customized too. That was the whole reason I started this channel, but so many people said to do reviews, unboxing and stuff. This is like one of the first true unboxing/review I've done on the channel and people HATE it. 😂 All because I called out some bad QC issues. I don't resell, never have, never will. I'll always collect hotwheels and use this channel to showcase the good AND BAD sides of collecting. I'm glad you enjoyed the video, and thank you for the feedback and sharing thay with me! I still get Hotwheels for him as well because it would always remind me as a kid growing up playing with them in the front yard with my sound effects or in the house if it was raining. I remember taking a bunch of them with me to my grandmothers house and I would get yelled because I would play with them on the table next to her flowers and she would be like “On the floor lol 😂 I’m glad my son plays with them because I rather him play with toys and reading books then those smartphones or tablets.

I have not gotten into painting yet, mainly because I only buy cars that I thoroughly enjoy all the way. For example, the BMW Wagon, I love the blue one, but the red version coming out I'll probably leave on the pegs. Not a huge fan, maybe tampo deleted it'll look nice though. I digress, I know most people use the citrus gel paint remover. Not entirely sure the brand or how long to let it sit, but that product seems to be widely used and fairly efficient. Hope that helps! My card was equally as bad as yours in different places. I opened it because no value in a messed up card. My car has two paint bumps on the roof. Only looks good from the side. Your car looks good so you gotta be happy about that. But to be fair everyone has flaws. Diecast are so mass produced that I do not believe anyone will ever score a 10 on grading. Always a scuff or an uneven something or other. I just need to quit looking at them close up 😂😂😂

Its only a 25-30 USD a piece and its the same with every brands out there there are always a chance to get a bad ones. Its not 100 usd lost. You lost 30 usd. People just bloating the resale value
@valconir1619 That's why I said it's a potential loss of $100, because it COULD be sold for that price. Not that I WOULD sell it. I don't buy stuff to just sell off. But the prices of these RLC Skylines always go up with time. We've seen it in the past. My collection will be passed down to my son eventually, and if he ever wanted to get rid of them, (after enjoying them for a bit) he could make a good chunk of money. Mainly, this is all based on principle, if Mattel is going to charge $30+ for what is essentially a $6 premium, and not even have a limited production run, (making the car much less valuable) you still following bud? Then maybe Mattel ought to put more time and effort into their QC issues and shipping and handling so they DONT end up with disappointed customers. Don't you agree big guy? I mean, I have plenty of dinged up cards, so no, it doesn't bother me much. I open ALOT of my stuff up. But to the collectors that are looking for quality products, in mint factory condition, this video goes to show that maybe Mattel doesn't offer what they're looking for. I collect for the cards and the diecast and I want both to be in mint condition. If that bothers you then maybe you're far too sensitive for this hobby and should find something else. Like sewing or painting by numbers... You're definitely not a gate keeper of hot wheels collecting so stop acting like it...

I get the sentiment of your original comment, it isn't a big deal at all, it's just content. People make it deeper than it should be. Just curious, which paint stripper do you use? and how long do you usually let it set? Also, do you use self tapping screws to close up your customs?
