For all those wonder how to use the Pads to change the sequence: Go to the "preferences", "general tab" and scroll until "program change". You can now send PC to change sequences (or tracks/programs if you want). However, I do not know how he does this in the video since he seems to seamlessly be able to use Prog Change to change the Tracks but then later to change the Sequences without editing the prefs... curious
Can you pinpoint where he does that on this video?

No sound! The template loads with Midi input enabled, once you disable the Mini input then the sound works.
For those that don't know where that is, in the lower left hand corner where there is an "i", scroll over with your mouse pointer to each one, the first one is "Pad Channel", then "Program Channel" then "MIDI Channel" which looks like a horizontal bar graph icon. You want to turn of anything highlighted in red either the M or the S, then you should start hearing sound. I had to go through and do this for each track.
This tutorial sucks only because the file does not load as stated. It loads the entire project already populated with the tracks and notes. Fix your demo!

I can't even get the template file to load - keeps saying the Mini Grand and Hybrid plugins fail to load? They are licenses and activated, but now nothing even plays when I open the file...

I keep getting a project missing files error. I'm on a p.c. and I dragged the progressions asset folder into the program, mpc beats, progression folder.
So simple to execute when you have all the arrangement.
But for me it takes a year to create the arr. LOL

Just figured it out! (Preferences) then (midi/sync) at the bottom change "program change" to (sequence). Should change the program change button to use sequence instead of changing the track!
Hello. I have made your tutorial. Finally, when I press the PROG CHANGE button and try to perform the song sequence, I find this problem: When I press the PADs, only the Midi position changes but not the sequence. What do I need to do to make this work? Thanks

Your question seems a little too generic. Let me ask are you trying to listen to what you’ve recorded on the pads? Or are you trying to change sequences by using the MIDI controller?
@@kepheramanjet3244 He is asking about the place in the tutorial at 9:34 ("Now let's trigger sequence 2"). For me tapping Pad 2 just switches the track to 2, instead of the sequence. In the tutorial it actually switches to Sequence 2. If I disable PROG CHANGE - then it just play the note assigned to the drum pad for Pad 2. What are we missing here?
Found the answer in comments "Go to Edit. Preferences. Select General. Then under Program Change select Sequence instead of Track."
Sorry to ask for help here. I didn't find any other way. A problem with AKAI MPK MINI MK3. The problem is related to the sensitivity of the keys. I have to make an effort to press the keys to hear the sound normally. The sensitivity is very low. How can I fix this problem? How do I increase the sensitivity, or set the velocity range. It is a pity that immediately after the purchase I have to look for solutions to problems. Thanks.

@@AkaiProVideo I have the same issue.. submitted ticket by selecting Mini MPK, as there is no choice in the list for MPK 3.. no response to the ticket.. and no email or ticket# to follow up.. also not able to join the Akai forum as it is by invite.. totally stuck with assistance.. pls help.. should we use "Full Level" option always?? In all the demos, the pads and keys do not seem to be so hard.. replaced the unit with another one thinking of hardware issue.. new one has the same problem too.. what am I missing? Appreciate your inputs.. thanks..

how to you get the sequences to line up to create a full song which you can export as a full track?
There's no output once i load the project... seems to be an issue or bug with the software or my settings... not sure...is there some setting... that Im not aware of...cos without the project theres output...once i Load it... the keys can be seen getting pressed...but no output

I know this is from forever ago, but if you are on a M1 or M2 mac, that is the problem. You have to run MPC Beats using Rosetta.
Great Video. I have an AKAI MK2. Unfortunately, it doesn't work the same way with the track mute as in the video, for me it only changes the tracks and not the sequence. What am I doing wrong?

Um not really, but I also haven't had the chance to really play with it. I've been working and dealing with some other stuff.
Track = is like a part of piece of a song (ie drums, Melody, synths, vocals etc) its basically like an element or component of what makes up the whole song.
Sequence = a portion of the song, that repeats. Depending on the style of the music, you're making itll be like an 4, 8, 16, 32, 64 Bars in length. Most commonly used are 4, 8, & 16 bars. And then it'll repeat, once again depending on the style of music, (ie Top 40, Pop, Hip Hop, aka commercial music). The longer sections (32 & 64 and higher length Bar loops / sequences) are usually found in more House, Electro, EDM, Trance, or more long & drawn-out progressive music.
Program (from my understanding) = basically like settings that are saved in order for them to be recalled at a later time. For example if you had a 'Program' that is set up for you to play melodies with specific parameters and automations, it's kinda like what the controller does for a specific game, but in this case it's related to music hopefully that'll be somewhat of a helpful explanation.
Lmk if that helped explain it, if not ill try to explain it another way.

@@carlos_mann wow thanks for the detailed explanation, I was playing with it right now and all of a sudden I don't know what I did or what happened but whenever I press the pads on the machine or in the computer they don't record anything if I want to put a beat I have to double click on the bars. If I press the pads they make the sound and they light up but they don't get recorded on the events I already unplugged it and plug it back in and went crazy looking at what the heck happened and nothing

Assets are compatible with Windows too.. just installed it in Windows 10 and working.. but couple of things to be taken care...
1. note that the library location given for Progressions is OSX specific.. in my Windows 10, the default folder for Progressions is located in C:/Program Files/Akai Pro/MPC Beats/ Progressions..
2. also the template file has tracks muted in the mixer.. so we won't hear any sound unless we manually unmute them first.. Ctrl+2 to open track view and click the red M button on all Midi tracks to unmute them..

Files missing and lots of errors, this tutorial is completely outdated and not working.
This was an amazingly simple explanation of how this works. Other companies could only hope to make such an effective video.

So do you typically make 4-measure beats (or however many)? Is that the point of triggering the other parts of the song instead of laying full tracks like in a DAW? I have this setup and would like to make the most of it. Trying new stuff. Thx!😌

How does it change the sequence when you are playing it? For me it just changes the Track and doesn't trigger the next sequence.

The MPK mini 3 is for the MPC beats (computer eco system) Hardly anything is mapped to the MPC live 2. Keys work and pads are not set like the MPC. Rotary encoders/program changes/ bpm and arp are not mapped to the MPC flagship line. No tutorials on how to do it if it is possible and an opportunity wasted to please the flagship MPC users. So disappointing!
Andy can the akai midi mix work with MPC Beats Software, it should be able to, I would like to use it for the mixer section!

Okay from reading the comments I came to the conclusion that this is a shit tutorial. Sorry presenter don't wanna be harsh but it's a video for beginners and I'm not even a beginner but I can't get anything to work like it does in your video.

How is it not? They're basically the same app, one with more assets than teh other.
@@pliniogoiania beats seems to be optimized for the beats they may have written the midi mapping in that version but when I tried to do the same functions on the regular software it didn't work as smooth.

no transport buttons?? you need to click stop, play and record with the mouse?? seriously? also that piano roll view need to be adjusted all the time?? couldn’t you have something like follow notes? so it would adjust automatically? lastly would’ve been too much to have a “shift” function to copy/duplicate a patten? I don’t get why you wouldn’t go there and have a champion entry key controller, you would’ve killed it, It’s so strange.

I’ve downloaded the packs and when I try to drag it into the software it tells me I’m missing sounds. How do I fix this

he makes it look so easy and then when i try it i cant get noise to come out. i looked up so many videos and i cant find one that explains how i can use it meaning getting the sound to come out. im rlly stressed rn lol
You may want to go to Edit>Preferences within the MPC Beats DAW, select the MIDI/SYNC tab, then make sure your Mini is listed under Input Ports. If it isn't then you may have to disconnect and reconnect your Mini from your computer.
Go to the Mixer and you will notice that the channels are muted. Once you unmute them you will get sound. They really need to redo this tutorial things like this will make someone wanna give up.
Once you get the input sound working , I recommend the free trial of Melodics , it's challenge based lessons that really help. Don't get frustrated because all these software are so versatile it takes some time learning out all the features. It just takes practice and once you really learn the software including your DAW ( Ableton , FL Studio ect.. ) the reward is amazing when you get creative and produce better and better. 🎧🎼🔥👌🎶 Love from Texas 💖

Anyone else having mad trouble with the folder if using a windows system? it would be cool if you had a quick 1minute video on how it works to set up template ive followed prompts but not working still.

When I load the template, I miss the plugins: Grand Piano and Hybrid :( so I miss a lot of the music in the Template :(

Is it just me? I cant get the plugins that you get with the Akai to work. Fail to load. I have activated them and used all the software and accounts possible. They work seperately but not in the MPC Beats :O
I've worked with different DAW's sense cool edit Pro and MPC Beats is by far one of the most dynamic creations. I hate the way Akai uses coke head rushed explanations to show case how talented the presenter is. I would prefer an actual lesson were I can see and understand what is exactly going on. It is hard for us students to build a relationship with something new when the instructor is rushing past everything like a coke head maniac.
It come with it's own sound kits when u plug it in MPC Beats. You can the see the kits?

Broo first when u select prog change and then u press any pad then the tracks gets changed but in the end when u were pressing the pads the sequences were changing how did u do that i wanna know that ...pls can anybody explain this to me

Same issue here...been poking around with options and no luck so far. Having to manually select the dropdown to switch between sequences until I can figure this out.

Copy sequence, Track mute, record track mutes. Copy sequence, more mutes, then enter song mode. Drag and drop in order for the arrangement. Export.

I don't really get what is happening around 10:50. Suddenly the song is gone (no more bars on the grid view) and the guys is showing the tracks... But how is this done? To me nothing's happening when I am hitting the pads after adding the xpc file...?? Could someone help?

Is there a way to use the MPC beats upper Q links with the 8 knobs? It just works with the bottom 8, and bank A/B works only for the pads.

you need to fix either the program or the video this is absolutely terrible. When you load these only half of them come with sound and they come muted like I do not know how to fix this

This is terribly explained. It's completely useless for beginners. I' am college professor at IT university teaching Intro to computer programming. If I were to explain anything like this to beginners, I would be fired next semester.
@@Robiant I got one of these for Christmas and I've never tried making music before. The explanations he's done are extremely helpful to me (someone who has no prior experience with this stuff) in putting together music, how to change tracks easily and even explaining some of the buttons and knobs that I had no idea what they did.
