I have read Malice and can confirm Gwynne is an amazing fantasy writer. His characters are deep and well developed, and his battle scenes are some of the best that I've ever read. That being said, I feel like I need to warn potential readers that it doesn't shy away from the violence that accompanies battle. It's gross, it's gory, and it's real. Side note: I have Braiding Sweetgrass on my tbr and can't wait to get to it!
I agree GoT is worth it. I have devoured every book so far... and starving, like so many others for that next book... I purchased every season... yes, even season 8. I just received the 1st season of House of the Dragon... still starving for scraps of that world! Wait Malice will fill that void!? Okay... I'm opening the box again, and removing the plastic wrapping... yep. If I finish Manda Scott's Boudica:Dreaming the Hound(not talked about enough), and Peirce Brown's Dark Age(Red Rising Saga.. worth the hype Imho) before the end of June I'm starting Malice... I won't put it off until fall! I feel I need this story in my life, ASAP. Between your high praise and The Brothers Gwynne ... mostly the way William has talked about his Papa Gwynne's books from time to time. And well written battle scenes? Animal companions? John Gwynne is known to enjoy viking re-enactment events! They say, "Write what you know." 📖😌📚 **feels at peace with book choices**📚📚

@@unclarable thank you! After I hit send I was worried that one was a bit much! 😅 🤣😂
I spent years unable to form a single thought that wasn't related to game of thrones, so maybe I do need to read Malice.
nothing can beat it but dang it comes pretty close 🥲 ps how have we not been fangirling over GoT together??
@@unclarable right, we need to fangirl immediately
A series worth the hype for me is the Green Bone Saga by Fonda Lee. I love that trilogy so much!!
ooooo ive been putting that one off but it might be time 👀
The secret history by Donna Tartt is really bad on so many levels.
I am going to be reading Legends and Lattes soon! I am so excited to read it!
YAY!! i can’t wait to hear your thoughts on it!!
