- The state-owned enterprise last posted a profit in 2004. Ever since then its finances have been going on a downward spiral. In February last year, SAPO was placed under provisional liquidation. Following litigation by creditors, including landlords to whom the Post Office had failed to pay. In December last year, creditors Of SAPO voted and approved its business rescue plan. The plan sought to close 420 branches nationally and retrench 6 000 workers. In March this year the plan was put in motion leading to over 4 000 workers losing their jobs.

I worked for the post office for 42 years i retired on the end of august 2022 it took 6 months to get my one third because the post offi was deducting pension contribution money but not transffering it to sanlam as from march 2020
Technology made Post Offices obsolete, I think. You don't need to post a mail, you can just send it electronically with an email address, it's instant and way cheaper.

Both government and workers collapsed SAPO. Around 2021 I have tried to send a parcel to EC Matatiele till today the parcel hasn't reached destination.

The post office took 2 months to deliver a parcel from Durban to Emalahleni. The funny part was that the parcel passed through Emalahleni to Nelspruit then back again. You guys dont deserve anything you were not doing anything at post office. Your service was so disgusting.
