Develop some rear and side visibility... for a playful car like this it is a must. No amount of tech replaces being able to see. What is so hard to understand??
Doesn’t the Polestar 2 get less range with a bigger battery compared to the Model 3? If “better made” means your efficiency is calculated as gallons per mile then more power to you.
I think Tesla would be more reliable just because they have been doing it for so long and over the air updates are by far better than any car. The interior and design look nice.
Do you know if Polestar is working on getting a supercharging network or teaming up with someone? I feel like the supercharger will keep Tesla in front but I am interested in the Polestar.
Polestar have the PodPoint network, which if you are anywhere outside of North America it is more abundant than the supercharger network, although slower.
This looks like a very well put-together car, but I'm having trouble justfiying how they are going to attract buyers from the ICE market with their pricing due to the car being a "master of none". Most EVs at these price points give you something "extra" to justify why you're buying that instead of something like a BMW or Mercedes. Telsa throws technlogy and absurd acceleration at you to justify their price point, albeit with some sub-par fit and finish, to give you a car that beats out everything else in those specific areas. This makes sense because, when competing at the price segment of luxury and performance vehicles, customers expect luxury and performance. IMO Polestar should have either leaned a little bit further into luxury or a little further into performance, since where it sits right now it just doesn't seem like an attractive option for buyers who can afford it unless they are already dead-set on buying an electric vehicle. As it stands right now, I feel like they'd need to bring it all the way down to $40k or even $30k to truly be able to offer a driving experience comperable to its price point to comperable ICE vehicles. Because, as nice as this car is, I don't see how someone who is on the fence about EVs would ever choose this car over something like a M340i which is faster, nicer, cheaper, and more familiar to them.
There is a 25% tariff on the cars so if we can get the tariff removed then it would drop the price dramatically. A decked out performance spec Polestar II has a roughly $700 lease payment, too, which doesn't seem too bad for what you are getting.
They dont even have a running production line yet, the only thing you have to judge/drive is a prototype. Tons of those at every car show, they aren't for sale either.
@@astronmr20 Shame really. Both Volvo and Saab were iconic quirky safety focused Swedish brands which got run into the ground by American automakers (Ford and GM), but they never lost their scandanavian flair. Ford was nice enough to sell Volvo off, and Geely was smart enough to give them a bunch of money but otherwise stay largely hand off, and now Volvo/Polestar has an entire new lineup of great looking cars. Saab came out with the beautiful 9-5 and a really nice looking 9-3 which never got built because GM just closed them down. The last gen 9-5 was unveiled 10 years ago and still looks more modern than most luxury mid sized sedans on the market. Such a shame Saab was unceremoniously shut down like that.
I thought Geely owns Volvo Cars 100% like Tata owns JLR. Also I find the Polestar 2 interior just a notch below Volvo interiors. Also the center console felt unnecessarily wide and made of cheap feeling plastic. Also is it super noisy inside or need a better microphone?
15:47 and then you’re gonna gloss over the fact that there’s another one that happens to be on the same road?... 😁 Matt: limited super secret testing Matt (later): ‘Oh theres another one!’ La di da Lol
Model 3 Performance owner, and I’m not worried about the Polestar 2. Comparing the specs side by side, and the M3P is significantly faster, brakes better, better handling, has more interior room, longer range, weighs less, better charging infrastructure, even has a better drag coefficient. Everything here is also copied, down to the three steering modes and OTA updates. Model 3 still has a 5 star crash rating, and I still don’t get how journalist think the minimalist airy interior is “unfinished”. Don’t see why a person would spend the same money on a lifted crossover sedan with worse performance in pretty much all categories.
If the model 3 is the BEST EV in the market, how come it's not the only one people are buying? Either people are stupid or they just simply don't like it. And as for three steering modes, Volvo's had that option already over 20 years ago. Who's copying who? Same can be said about the three point seat belt...
Robert Blackford Have you owned one or driven one for a long time? I’m a big car enthusiast. Had a saleen while I had my Model 3 Performance, but I never had a complaint about the interior or center screen. It works well for the car, IMO.

Now this is the Polestar 2 I’ve been waiting for. Couple questions: 1) You started at 80% - what was your charge when you pulled over to read the last bit of specs? 2) Can the radio be set to make is sound like you’re driving a TIE Fighter?
The car looks great, but I wanted to see it bounce Matt's head of the head rest, and it didn't appear to. They should rework the throttle control for 'sport' mode; if you floor it, it should go to 100%, not ask if you are sure for the first few seconds.
I really hope they do a full ev polestar 1. That car is so sexy, but it's so complicated mechanically lol
You could say it is Polestar 6...
Looks like a modern Saab 900 (first gen). I love it!
Yep, true, they both have round rims.
Me too! Needs a sunshade, if enough people say it Polestar will do it come on people.
I've never been the first person to watch a video. Feels like an achievement haha, but all joking aside I absolutely love this channel. I'm currently specing out a Alfa Romeo Giulia Quadrifoglio because of this channel. I can't wait until I receive it!!!
Nice man! Get the warranty for it if it doesn’t come with it. When it expires, run!!! 😂😂 good luck brother
congratulations for buying a ticking time bomb
@@3ms4ever The warranty is without question lol better safe than sorry.
@@zeezy21 if it blows it blows the car is only like $75,000. I can make that back in 1 month. I'm buying it for the pure bliss of performance, not reliability, that's what my economy cars are for 🤷🏾♂️
Darren Spells that’s is totally a fair point, what other cars do you have?
Haven't you heard boys? Tesla is not a Car company. It's a tech company!
They make tech stuff... like erm... Stuff that make the stock go up. That's all it matters, right?
Your troll skills need an upgrade pimpy Didnt you get the onair software update? Oh that was supposed to be on the 5G network right?
This is one of my favorite cars at the moment. And its EV, which is even better
Yeah, I am so excited. I plan on looking for a new vehicle around 2025 and am so stoked for improvements.
And it's a Volvo even better times 2.
Looks way better than any 4 door Tesla in my opinion.
why do all these companies think that Electric sports cars is what the general population wants... NO we want an electric car that has a range of 500+! and that has the ability to perform fast charging.... and not having to wait an hour + for a full charge.... no one is going to be going 0-60 in 3-4 seconds all the time... can you imagine how much tires you have to go through!
It is going to take 7:42 for me to get to the Malibu Kitchen 😂 Thanks Google 🤦♂️
This thing has a nicer engine note than the F8 from the other week.
ALL cars have some wind buffeting, put the passenger side window down about 1-2 inches and it goes way.
Audio keeps changing or it's just me ?
I absolutely would drive this every day
Only with a sunshade
*Tesla fanboys typing...*
From your friends at Rev Media
Ahahahahah
That´s one thihng that you don´t understand, Tesla is pushing all automakers to electric and ditch the ICE.
But obvious you didn´t.
Just look the meeting of VW CEO with Elon driven an ID.3.
general65644 Don’t worry, I was just kidding☺️
@@general65644 lmao this is the exact thing we mean about Tesla fanboys. Y'all think you're brilliant and only you see the light. You're just a part of Elon's cult. There's still zero guarantee electric is the true way forward, hence VAG spending BILLIONS on Hydrogen research and development. Even if it is, Teslas aren't all that great and neither is Elon. It's the car for the Joneses.
@@greatcolor Hydrogen don t make me laugh.
First you known that hydrogen is gonna power a electric battery. Second VAG group pull the plug on hydrogen the only car company that is on hydrogen is Toyota, even Kia and Hyunday pull the plug because of the Tesla sales in Korea skyrocket.
And for the last to produce Hydrogen is too expensive and the storage even worst, but if you prefer to pay to big company go ahead.
Electric is perfect solution with solar panels, so i prefer to keep my money in my pocket.
P.S i love electric cars i got in my mind next year to buy one. Polestar Or Skoda Enyaq depending in my country how much The grid expand. If the grid stay the same is a no brainer Model 3.
Don't get me wrong, it looks cool and probably drives great but this is going to be a reliability nightmare and getting parts an even bigger, more pricey nightmare being a Swedish car made in China.
Wait, you mean EVs don't have to look like my big toe after a long walk?
This is interesting 🤔
Real shame it's made in China. Thrilled to see non Tesla EVs, but that takes it off my list immediately
Develop some rear and side visibility... for a playful car like this it is a must. No amount of tech replaces being able to see. What is so hard to understand??
Thanks, Matt. My Home mini gave me great directions to the Malibu Kitchen lol
The interior in terms of layout and design looks better than the Polestar 1.
More modern. Then again, the xc90/s90 inspired Polestar 1 interior dates back now 5 years. A new Volvo xc90 interior debuts in the 2022 xc90.
Victor Hugo The Polestar 1 has the same interior as a $50,000 Volvo with some carbon and aluminium trim added.
What’s that clunking that I keep hearing? Is it from the car? I kept hearing the same noise throughout the video. Example at 11:25
It's his hard camera bag/suitcase in the trunk sliding around
That was Matts journalist integrity that broke lose sometime during the Joe Rogan podcast recently
Pretty sure it’s the sound of his tyres driving over the markers in the centre of the road.
True but some Volvo/Saab lovers like me may buy this car if it eventually comes with a sunshade.
Neither do VWs, Mercedes, BMWS, Audis or Hondas EVS
Hows the paint? Honestly that is the main thing holding me back from tesla, lol
Cars and bids for auto tempest?
They dont even have a running production line yet, the only thing you have to judge/drive is a prototype. Tons of those at every car show, they aren't for sale either.
They are for sale here in the uk.
Auto tempest is the shit. Of only they could add facebook marketplace and it would be complete
Looks like a lifted Scion tC.
Love it
Looks like spiritual successor to SAAB.
@deadend it's beautiful
@deadend yeah, idk high cars but I hate SUVs
I wonder why they decided to keep the full center console while most other EVs are not, since there's no need.
Does it have a better sound system? Doubt it
Matt- buying into electrification? When will he learn to turn off traction control and smoke those tires?
Only old Volvos with teenage drivers can smoke tires.
Should have bought the Saab brand and called it that - looks like one...
SAAB also sort of has their 9-3's still being made as electric cars through NEVS. Which is also a Chinese-owned company in Sweden.
I actually cried when Saab closed, best car brand ever. I'm a Volvo guy now maybe future Polestar owner. I like the hatchback but no sunshade YET.
Because most of the Saab engineers and designers now work for Volvo :)
Thanks, my Google Home just gave me directions to The Malibu Kitchen. Apparently it's a 39 hour drive.
Actually, it'd be better to compare it to a Model Y
Guess what, sold my Model 3 Performance a couple of weeks ago, and ordered a Polestar 2
How much charge did you use on that little run??
matt actually triggered my google home
So much entertainment in the comments before I even watch the video🍿😂
Never watched a video with so many ads
2?
You said it has Volvo safety when comparing to the Tesla 3 however I understand the Tesla has the best score on safety ever.
There is no "best score" in safety. It's a star rating and many cars have 5 stars.
Volvo should be rated at 6 star.
No updates on the Garage?
So the starting price is $20k higher starting?
15:47 and then you’re gonna gloss over the fact that there’s another one that happens to be on the same road?... 😁
Matt: limited super secret testing
Matt (later): ‘Oh theres another one!’ La di da
Lol
It's probably his friend Bob.
Robert Blackford What a bitter person. Enjoy your Honda Civic.
Great review, thanks👍 Polestar 2 looks beautiful 🙂🇸🇪
Now listen to the one where he drives the Cayman 987 and tell me which you’d rather have sat on your driveway.
Allllllllrighty then there's the torque....so I see you wanna be a turbo, polestar two! 😂
The torque lag is probably intended to feel like a turbo, I'm sold. 😎

Or if you look at it on a lease or pcp, which most people do nowadays. You can get a standard range model 3 with the equivalent colour and enhanced autopilot for £450 a month. The polestar is £465 a month and you get more range, a nicer cabin, and it’s safer and more reliable.
The polestar also does have autonomous capability.
I wonder if any Uighurs were “used” to manufacture and assemble these in China. It’s a huge ethical dilemma.
My Google assistant gave me directions to the Malibu kitchen. It will only take 6 hours and 37 minutes to get there.
Reminds me of the AMC Eagle.
I have to find ‘Funky Fresh Road’ on the map 11:01
Even if I were in the market for an electric car, I’m not about to buy one from ChiCom in 2020.
CHYNA NUMBA WON
I buy based on quality, not where things are made. China manufactures some of the best and worst products in the world, as does USA, as does Australia, etc.
I would buy a Polestar 2 instead of a Model 3 provided it’s not much more than a Model 3 once Australian pricing is released.
Dejan Subaric I’m not talking about quality. I’m talking about not wanting to support a totalitarian communist state that has has caused millions of deaths and incalculable economic damage around the world, at best due to criminal negligence and at worst the release of a biological weapon. Screw Volvo, screw any subrands that their Chinese overlords might spin off of it, and screw any attempts to enter our market with their own home-grown shitboxes.
@@TBustah You do understand that everything you said about China applies to USA as well other than being communist 😂😂😂 go 'merica
Stefan Grubesic A: We’ve spread a disease around the world? When? We shut down the entire world’s economy? When? We’re totalitarian? Since when? And don’t say “Trump”. Love him or hate him, if that’s your idea of totalitarianism, then you should be thankful that you don’t know half of what China has been up to over the last seventy years or so. We’re not the ones forcing women to have abortions at gun point, putting religious minorities in camps and forcing their sterilization, or banning cartoon characters because people compare them to our politicians.
B: Even if it were all true, whataboutism is a logical fallacy. Whatever my country has done in the past or is doing in the present (and I concede that our history isn’t without shame, NO country’s is), it doesn’t change the fact that China is currently screwing the word over or that they allowed this mess to happen. I want no part in funding it.
If it is not a Volvo and they have full Reign to design the vehicle any which way they want, why does it look exactly like a Volvo?
Read Zechariah 12:10 Because it looks great lol
Because Volvos look great.
Why compare a hot hatch to a compact city car?
A '78 Yugo is a better built Tesla 3.
saab is back
Salty Tesla dislikes...my Mom's civic has better quality control than a Model 3
Well sure. Your mom's civic probably has hit tons of puddles and its bumpers are still attached to the car. Can't say that about the model 3. Tesla has built like half a million of them and still a few brand new ones will drive in the rain, the bumper will fill up with cover and fall right off! Tesla is like Apple, they've got their customer base so brainwashed that they don't even feel the need to fix these fit and finish issues.
@@tren133 Yeah, I like Elon but Tesla has the "soyboy" customer base like Apple does.
