When I first started looking into Conquest I immediately passed over the Nords, thinking it was just another Viking faction. Videos like these are definitely making me rethink my initial take. Great video and I also appreciate you adding in reasons to not play the faction.
They're the one faction I wish would get reworked. Their lore and play style don't mesh well. A horde army from a land barren and harsh that don't value their lives when a unit dying is probably an entire villages male population. Just seems strange. Almost all the Nords players I know love their models just not their rules.
Thats a take I didnt realize I agree with so much. I do like how they have leaned more into the harsh frozen north angle with the rules but yeah it feels too throw away for the standard troops. Fits almost a more supernatural freefolk to me. The rules are better now but do feel lacking. Not sure what I would change but so far they seem to underperform to me.
I can't say I agree on the lore side. Like, the basic Nords troops aren't full-blown warriors, they're basically a smash-and-grab crew that operates under the protection of more powerful warriors. It makes sense that they're going to be a bit worse than comparable armies with more "professional" soldiers.

Really enjoying your Conquest series looking at different races. Thanks for taking the time to share your thoughts and ideas
Thanks. Glad you enjoyed it. Always listening too for what people would like to hear discussions on.
