Damn the Pass disrespect is crazy in this video but I feel you, felt it was definitely competitive. The content of his rounds were POTENT..A BODYBAG!?!
Great review Jay. I just got home from being at the event in person and I have to say the Elijah battle is worth a couple of re-watches. I’d love to see a breakdown of that battle because I walked out giving it to Elijah 2-1. In the building, John John, second round had people going nuts. And like you, I was super frustrated about the difference in time for ROC and K. Overall, I can definitely say it is the event of the year.
feel like I saw the Twork and Pass battle way different to all the recaps I'm seeing, I had Pass taking the battle just off having no dead space every round. Twork def had all the best haymakers, but the setups felt like they meandered too much to me, like he spent 4 bars saying basically the same thing as a set up to the conjoined twins bar, which was fire, but I thought he could've gotten there way quicker. Every round, I felt like a good chunk could've been edited out without losing any impact from his moments. Also kinda saw the BC thing coming when he said 'scam likely' but it def was funny and a good trap for someone who likes to respond to his opponents when they're rapping Also felt like K in the second was the clearest round to me on first watch - still an edge, but the other two felt razor-thin to me, esp since the round differential was so big. I thought the Ken stuff was rough too, esp since Roc used a couple that Ward had said in I think basically the same way, and Roc had some OBC in the first and second which, when you're rapping that long, does grate on me because I'm anyway getting tired as the round keeps going. That said, I typically don't like Roc's style too much and I really liked him in this one, thought he broke up the constant punching well enough to keep the material from feeling stale, although I still wish he'd at least group the punches that focus on specific themes, because otherwise it feels like he's just saying the same shit every round. I do agree, though, I think this doesn't quite make BOTY for me - esp over Lux v Nitty - but the moments in it and the context around it do elevate it a lot
@@Nihaas K vs Roc one of the more debatable I’ve ever had to call. Thoughts Ks 3rd was actually his clearest round but imo the 2nd is preferential, and I will always not like how Roc took this time gauging approach, but both 2nds were them nearly at their peak. I’ve appreciated it more on the rewatch as a battle however I think the storyline is doing a lot of carrying in terms of ppl saying it’s classic. As for Twork vs Pass. I can’t see how anyone could not see that as a 30. I respect Pass pure rapping ability and non wasting of syllables, but in terms of attacking your opponent Twork was out punching, performing, angling. Had the room flipped on Pass and beats him on paper. It was a 70-80% Twork, but that simply was all it took
@@jsmoreviews4140 yea I realize I just have the 'wrong' opinion for Pass v Twork, def can't argue when I agree that Twork had all the peaks of the battle. But I rewatched it and I still see it the same, felt like Pass was fire all the way through - actually better on rewatch, because I was catching more of the wordplay he snuck in - and Twork had too many dry spots in his setups that made me tune out. Just have to hold that ig Def need to rewatch K v Roc, glad to hear it's coming off better with more viewings, but it does feel like a massive time commitment. You were def right about not needing to worry about 90s for it lmao
Damnit Mr. Chuckles 😢JSmo if you do any follow up videos, can you offer a brief comment about all the URL advertising on a KOTD PPV? It's probably as simple as KOTD selling ad space to URL, but I already see the conspiracies bubbling 😂
Twork explained it about battling on RBE. He said he would only battle on RBE, if they put a URL logo on the screen. KOTD uses URL talent I.e. Sikh, Twork, etc... so URL and KOTD came up with a partnership. I was at the Stay Forever, and that was the case as well. Some of the Stay Forever battles dropped on the URL app before it hit RUclips.
@@acpjr KOTD and URL bridge has been as strong as ever. KOTD battles that have URL talent have premiered on the app first for a week or 2 before hitting YT. And they’ve been promoting each others events for the last couple. I’m sure there’s business details within that but they’ve been on good terms for a min now
JMo you look like a young version of the old man from the movie Up 😂 #salute
Dope recap bro
