A talented fellow from a talented family. I was at Harvard in 1962-3 with his brother Serge. They were like musical royalty.

Soon after we moved to San Francisco from Kolkata, India in 1968, we moved to a home in San Fran where, yes, this is true, Ivan Tcherepnin became our tenant in the upper unit, with his wife and daughter, whom I babysat. I believe he was at Stanford U then. At one time, his father legendary composer Alexander T. and wife (IT's mom) came to dinner in our lower level unit home and they suggested we keep look out for his son a newcomer to the US. At the time, we had no idea of their role in the western music world...and didn't pay much attention. My brother did take some piano lessons from Ivan T. upstairs but bro didn't like playing the modern composers at that young age so stopped the lessons...my dear late bro liked Mozart, however. I still play classical violin (though as amateur in orchestras of SF bay area) and now loving the 20th century composers, dead and some living, and lately Stravinsky choral music. My parents, bro, and and Ivan T now in another orbit..blessings to all and the musical memories!
